Bobby Brown got more than close with Janet. He was having a passionate affair with her for several months. He fell in love with her but she didn't feel the same for him. It was all sexual for her. Her father didn't let her date full black men.
I don’t believe the story about her dad though. He never seemed to have any say on any of his kids relationships. Especially Janet’s, if it was up to him she definitely wouldn’t have get married not once but twice. Shit he didn’t like his kids with anyone according to them. I guess he thought marriage was a distraction. I heard he didn’t even like Dee Dee, Rene or James none of his kids significant others. He seemed to tolerate Hazel because of her dad but that was it.
