I've lived in Carson City for over 8 years now and I really like it here as far as the small town feel goes. The crime rate wasn't mentioned in this video and I don't know what it is but it seems relatively low overall. My neighbors can leave things such as bicycles out in the front yard overnight, sometimes several overnights and nobody steals them. Also, I see very little graffiti here which is really nice. Those things said, I personally feel the winters here are a bit harsher than was stated. Finally, if ONE thing were to get me to move away from here, it would definitely be the frequent high winds. They are very irritating and can be destructive.
Great info, thank you Mark!!
Just depends where you live in Carson
@@desertgrowndank7256
What areas of carson city have less wind? I'm thinking of moving in March
Thank you for info
What a fucking girl
Born and raised in So Calif. Move to CC in 1976. Left CC twice, for various reasons; one stint in Tulsa OK and another in So. Indiana, but came back HOME to CC. I think this is THE BEST place to live. Regarding the wind, that was one thing that was the most dificult to get used to, but I barely notice it now, 47 years later LOL Winter 2022/2023 was harsh, but not normal. I love being near Lake Tahoe. I love the sunny blue skies and clean/dry air. (I HATE humidity) đ I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather live.
Yup , I love Carson ..đ
About how many days a year is there "smoke" from the wildfires? Thanks
@@kthippie6004 Hi, not sure if you meant to ask the content creator this question; I just watched their video and am by no means an expert on such matters, but I'll tell you what I know about the smoke from wildfires in CC. It all depends on the size of the fires and where they're located, but for example, the Rim Fire in Yosemite CA in 2013, which is a few hundred miles from CC, it was VERY smoky all summer. There have been several fires in Northern CA to our west in the past recent years that caused a great deal of smoky issues. You can probably do a web search for more in-depth info on No Calif fires. Hope this helps.
@@vivianlawrence778 Thank you, this was very helpful.
I'm from Oakland and I live in Tulsa now looking to moved to that area Carson. Or trucker CA
Carson City Weather Report:

yep basicly
I escaped from The California Communist Party (CCP) three years ago and moved to Lyon County. As an introvert, I absolutely love living out here. No one bothers you, yet most people are friendly.
Ahhh Commiefornia, don't bring your communism to Nevada.
This might be my sign. I'm also an introvert and looking to get away from nosy azz ppl and out of these horrible long depressing Wisconsin winters.
How is the water supply? The internet ok? Nearest hospital?
Great video, very informative! Another pro from what I've been learning about is the hiking and biking trails around Carson City.
Thank you!! Yes, that video is in the pipeline and will be coming soon.
You guys need to give more details like cost of housing, more on summers and winters. What are water rates, cost of utilities, low taxes?
I'm from back east (Pennsylvania) but have traveled extensively when I worked. I have been to Carson City several times and am now 90 but have always thought of living in the Carson City area. Don't think I will make it this time around but if I have a next time on this earth, Carson City is my choice.

Love it!!!!!
Good info. We're considering retiring to the Reno/ Carson City area in the next year or so.
It's a great spot. Reach out when you do. We'd love to help.
Reno basically connects to carson city and garnervile minden. Tahoe just up the hill. I live close to these towns. Northern nevada is a great place to live. We have everything here. Every town is about 15 mins away from each other. Reno is a large city in a small valley but its grown in every direction and is big enough
Agreed Jamie!!
A lot of the intro shots were Lake Tahoe. Carson isnt far at all, but its not accurate to use Lake Tahoe photos.
Looking forward to relocating to Carson City this coming Spring. I will rent until my health insurance business takes off.
Once it takes off, give us a shout Michael. We'd love to help!!
I lived in CC in the mid 70s. Also in Gardenerville and New Washoe City. Went back for the first time last year. Much nicer in the 70s.
That is for sure!!!
America was 100x better in the 70's.
Which cities would you recommend around Reno/Carson for the younger crowd?
For the younger crowd I would definitely recommend Reno over Carson City. Reach out and we can discuss in depth, but I highly recommend the Idlewild area. It's right on the Truckee River, far enough from downtown, but a short walk.
Regarding the weather : When you say its hot we are a dessert-- is it anything compared to Las Vegas 105-115??
Definitely not as hot as Las Vegas. We might hit triple digits a couple days out of the year.
Love it. Heatwaves in summer and cold snaps in the winter with snow. Minden Gardnerville are colder and snowyer
This recent snow has been fun :)
Iâd love to live in an area like that!
How is the availability of general contractors and/or tradesmen to rehab a home?
Great question Rebecca. We definitely have a couple GC's that we've worked with in the past, but due to demand, they are pretty booked out.
Another great and informative video Joe. One question. How is Carson City for those looking for a 55+ community/home development? This could be with single family or townhome, as long as amenities are ample for the community. Thanks.
We have lived in Carson for 5 years and before that we were in the Gardnerville Ranchos since 2007. One thing I have noticed is there are so many 55+ communities and apartments/townhouses. We are trying to move into a bigger place and every listing that matches our criteria and in our price range is 55+ đ
@@SandeJune Thank you so much for the reply and info. I'll do some research into 55+ in Carson City. In the meantime, are there any that stick out to you as a really good 55+ community? Thanks again.
I guess it is all relative.
The winds here in Colorado this season have been upwards of 100 mph and blowing over semi-trucks.
It was -15 at one point and in some cases we get blizzards that make it impossible to travel.
You literally canât see the house across the street.
But there is something to that small town vibe that nothing else can compare to, especially now days.
Thats for sure. We've also seen some crazier winds than what we're used to. Not 100mph, but 40-60.
Rent seems astronomical there in Carson -- I currently live in the Denver area and never thought I'd see higher rent than this outside of CA. Is it feasible to live in Reno and commute to Carson during the winter? Is the Reno/Carson area friendly to tiny homes (on wheels)?
exactly and a slow economy.
ive seen a few
There are definitely some different options. Shoot us an email and we can discuss in depth.
Reno / Carson area were more affordable than CA a long time ago but not so much anymore. I was born in Reno. Family moved to CA Bay Area when I was young. Now I'm almost priced out of both. Rents are not lower in Reno / Carson, and most of the rentals there are really ugly.
Where I live (Texas) just rooms go from 700$ to 900$ pay is from 11$ to 13$ per hour, basically it got too expensive to live anywhere. Seems Carson is way cheaper and higher job pay. Here in Texas we seen a mass exodus causing massive inflation in many things.
I'm sure it's impossible to find a place to rent there as well.
It's definitely not easy..
Yeah all the commies from California ruined it.
Great vlog
.I need to know more about Carson city..house place hospitality
Hey Aumi, Carson City housing is a little more affordable than Reno with close proximity to Reno and Lake Tahoe. Shoot us an email reno@realagentnow.com and we can set up a call to get you some more information!!
About how many days a year is there "smoke" from the wildfires? Thanks
Each year is definitely different, but this summer weâve had 1 maybe 2 days of wildfire smoke and the AQI hit 100+.
How much $ are the property taxes per 100K? Is there a sales tax, and what is it per dollar? Is natural gas, public water and sewer common in most homes for heating and cooking?
Paul, we can go into detail when you reach out.
I'm looking for land to build a custom home, can u help?
I'll be there soon, it will be my first time and I'm looking forward to it...but I have asthma. Is elevation an issue there? Thanks for any help
To be honest I haven't heard of the elevation being an issue for anyone with asthma.
What about mobile/module homes in the Gardnerville/Minden areas do you guys help people find one ?
What about the water situation, with all the shortage and conservation? What about homeless issues?
After this winter we are over 230% of our normal precipitation. Which is amazing!!!

It's not "diverse" that's a well known fact.... Reno on the other hand, is. However, crime is higher now than in the last 20 years. Facts.
Was just in sand harbor lake last week ( July 2021) and adding Carson city to my short list of potential places to move to, coming from Florida for reference.
Curious about the wind mentioned on this video. When is the worst time of the year it typically occurs? Iâd like to experience it, to see if thatâs something can live with.
How was the water levels at Sand Harbor?
@Suzette Carter: The wind is entirely unpredictable. There is no "worst time of the year" for it. It's a day-to-day, week-to-week, month-to-month kind of thing (*emphasis on "day-to-day"*). However, *I* am here, and available. So... what else ya need to know?

No.
When I lived in Carson City it was like Mayberry. I was essentially the only black person in town and when I graduated high school the population was 26,094. I remember them saying at the time that it was the fastest-growing city in the United States. That stat didn't concern me at the time, but now with a population of well over double at 58,993, the city has lost much of its charm. I visited a couple of years back and it was sad. I wouldn't live there now. It is not small enough to be quaint anymore (a mass shooting a few years back), but not large enough to be cosmopolitan.
Thank you for your insight Ken.
is there racist in carson?
Carson Tahoe is a great hospital? Have you seen there reviews? Lol.
Most hospitals will have negative reviews to be fair.
can you still get houses for under 200k
Nope. Low to mid 300s and it won't be pretty. 400+ for something halfway decent.
Hey Jeff, it really depends on location. Under 200k is a struggle, but it can be done.

Income needed for a 500k mortgage? A $500k mortgage with a 4.5% interest rate for 30 years and a $10k down-payment will require an annual income of $121,582 to qualify for the loan. lol
Shit! For a half million dollar home you better have at least $75,000 down and your credit needs to be high 700's at least.

Golfing, breweries, and gaming? That sound more like a weekend trip than a solid place to move. All that does not appeal to families moving. I would have liked to see what having a family is like there. Parks? Hiking? Fun places for kids to go? Zoo? Etc... I was not expecting a bachelor's point of view.
