Nightmare Series is not a Trilogy. They have 7 connected title tracks within the same universe. With the last one is the Japanese Track called 'Breaking Out'. Nightmare Series songs in order: Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High (Prequel), You And I, What, Piri (Ending) & Breaking Out (Alternate Ending)
Chase Me and Good Night were way ahead of their time. I read somewhere that of the 40 groups that debuted in 2017, Dreamcatcher was the only group with a rock /metal theme and horror concept, and only among a few still standing.
"Chase me" was their debut, released on January 13th (a Friday), 2017. It must have been nerve-wrecking for the members, re-debuting with a genre that is not popular in Korea after Minx failed. (5 of them were Minx before.) But they already doubled their sales with this. And they stuck with the Rock/Metal vibe until today, now selling 50 times the albums than Minx did.
This is the start of the Nightmare arc, which spans 6 MVs and 1 Japanese release. They are Nightmares here, and the Nightmare hunter is trying to dispel them - how that turns out is shown in the next one, Good Night.

the lyrics much like most dreamcatcher songs, is also social commentary. they are describing how society tries to mold you into something you are not, but that it's ok to take your own path because by doing so you might change the world and have people 'chase you'.
it also fits with their own backstory because before dreamcatcher, 5 of the 7 members were minx, a stereotypical bubblegum girl group. since they are from a tiny company, they couldn't stand out and if it were any other kpop group in any other kpop company, they would have disbanded. their ceo did the unthinkable because a lot of kpop is associated with a darker corporate side where idols get exploited. he said in a later interview he saw they could pull off any concept and sound so didn't want to give up on them and literally bet the farm to give them a second chance. this time they would do their own thing and succeed or fail on their own terms. a lot of their music follows this theme of being yourself and not giving up on your dreams hence their name, dream 'catcher'. while they are known for rock/metal sounds, most of their music is actually non-rock and spans across all genres.

Dreamcatcher are more of an alternative band. Many stereotypes in K-pop are being challenged. For harder stuff, just the latest as a recommendation: “Course of the Spider” and “Lullaby” - concert version, each from 2024. In between there are hundreds of songs, covers, live videos... - in all possible music genres. With 1A MV and vocals. These ladies have been in this formation since 2017... they also have professional concert experience. A hidden treasure. He's just waiting to be discovered.

I love Dreamcatcher so much as their music is rocky which I love qnd I love just the dark concept of their videos.

Im not sure if u both saw a guide or the video about dodging disbandment, but im pretty sure u'll understand way more with those. Mainly because their past is way too complicated tbh. They had to overcome tons of crap because the industry there is just awful. Even nowdays, the industry It's archaic (on the way they think). But for sure it is getting better (imo at least).
I cant even explain how much i love them. I was just a simple metalhead guy... one day i found dreamcatcher and thought... they are crazy good. And now im so sentimentally attached... im scared, honestly.

There was a definite anime/J-Rock influence on their debut, which isn't all that surprising when you consider their CEO got his start by importing J-Rock CDs and booking shows for Korean audiences. Supposedly he had always been a big fan of Japanese music and spent a lot of time going back and forth between Japan and Korea.
Just another fun little facet of the horror concept: the date of their debut was actually Friday the 13th, as was their sixth anniversary just a couple weeks after they officially announced that all seven members had renewed their contracts ahead of time.
