@@The_Gifertheres no such ruling in islam but we do it out of respect for the creator of the universe. Since in english, we start the name of any person with a capital letter, it's befitting for us to use it for Allah as well. Allah is a name and like all names, which are proper nouns, we should start it with a capital letter. I do feel that people play more with sentiments than knowledge and such a simple thing cannot really bother an entity with such high power since its just a grammatical issue and not an islamic one.

Chess is not haram, as most people play 10 min or less game in which both players have 10 min to make all their moves, there are 5 min and 3 min games as well which are faster than all of these. Chess improves your logic building and cognitive thinking.

No if you are not worshiping,it is not shirk. Shirk is act of worshipping a thing other than allah. As of hadith ,many hadis are not correct , specially the hadith which are of hazrat ali because many writers believe that hazrat ali is God which is not true.These writer wrote hadith wrong. For example ,one hadith say our prophet say whose I am maula those ali is also maula. Maula mean god which is shirk but many scholar support. So don't believe on every hadith , believe in Quran messages and some hadith which common in more than 5 writer hadith book.

Well, it has the head of a living being. And making a piece with a horse's head is an attempt to giving it life. But Allah is the only one who can give life to something or someone. I think that is the haram act. I may have said something wrong. So forgive me if I did.

The piece was formed as the tip of the tusk of an elephant.
When the game spread further it came to countries where no one had ever seen an elephant, so the piece looked odd to people there. They didn’t associate it with a tusk but thought it looked similar to a bishop’s mitre.
