The newest video in my editor reacts to series. This week I'm watching and reacting to Game of Thrones for the first time.
Eddard Stark is torn between his family and an old friend when asked to serve at the side of King Robert Baratheon; Viserys plans to wed his sister to a nomadic warlord in exchange for an army.
Nine noble families fight for control over the lands of Westeros, while an ancient enemy returns after being dormant for millennia.
Game of Thrones is an American fantasy drama television series created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of fantasy novels by George R. R. Martin, the first of which is A Game of Thrones. The show premiered on HBO in the United States on April 17, 2011, and concluded on May 19, 2019, with 73 episodes broadcast over eight seasons.
Set on the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos, Game of Thrones has a large ensemble cast and follows several story arcs throughout the course of the show. The first major arc concerns the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros through a web of political conflicts among the noble families either vying to claim the throne or fighting for independence from whoever sits on it. The second focuses on the last descendant of the realm's deposed ruling dynasty, who has been exiled to Essos and is plotting to return and reclaim the throne. The third follows the Night's Watch, a military order defending the realm against threats from beyond Westeros' northern border.
Game of Thrones attracted a record viewership on HBO and has a broad, active, and international fan base. Critics have praised the series for its acting, complex characters, story, scope, and production values, although its frequent use of nudity and violence (including sexual violence) generated controversy. The final season received significant criticism for its reduced length and creative decisions, with many considering it a disappointing conclusion. The series received 59 Primetime Emmy Awards, the most by a drama series, including Outstanding Drama Series in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. Its other awards and nominations include three Hugo Awards for Best Dramatic Presentation, a Peabody Award, and five nominations for the Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series - Drama.
#gameofthrones #got #reaction - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Hey guys and welcome to Game of Thrones! I'm beyond excited to go on this journey with you! The plan is to upload new reactions every Wednesday. Hope you enjoy the reaction :) this was quite a pilot!
How about the short series "Fleabag", "Gentleman Jack", "Preacher" or "Hannibal"? 😉
I hope nothing stops youfrom watching it because i now someone who stopped after Bran fell from the tower on episode 1 and they regretted it
@@MareikeMeetsMal oh yeah fleabag is super high on my list. I really wanna get to it this year
@TheLexiCrowd a good set of videos to watch are the lore videos that explain a lot of the past events. There is a certain order to watch them in before each new season to prevent being spoiled, but now with the Houseof the Dragon series, even that needs to be changed.
@@stevenrod100 Indeed, interesting and helpful.👍
And also in specific order and always after the respective seasons: the Honest Trailer vids! 😂 I could sooo hear some bits of the first one during your pilot reaction...however, you will have to wait a while for that, I think the first summary trailer was set after season 3.🤔
Throughout the whole episode, I could't help to keep thinking "Oh, Lexi! You sweet, sweet summer child". It's gonna be a long, traumatizing journey: let's go!
Everything is puppies, rainbows and smiles from here on out.
Your supposed to put "spoiler" before telling her that.
"I looked too! Where are my praises?" Good job.
Thank you ☺️
She said she's regretting her life choices 3 minutes in, this is gonna be fun! 😂
"I looked, too. Where are my praises?"
You did well.
"Oh poor *whatever her name* is" lol
Oh this will be a fun reaction series
I like a sweet summer child with fresh insight. The contrast between Sansa and Daenerys's wishes was very good. The two angels on Ned's shoulders was a nice observation as well. Welcome to GOT and ASOIAF. You are in for a wild ride, strap in!
I'm thinking about every moment in this show and I'm excited, fearful, and apprehensive for you. 😂
There's a bit more to Ned's philosophy about executions that I think the show muddles the understanding by cutting the full quote. So here is what Ned says in the book:
"the man who passes the sentence should swing the sword. If you would take a man's life, you owe it to him to look into his eyes and hear his final words. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the man does not deserve to die. ... A ruler who hides behind paid executioners soon forgets what death is."
Arya is and always will be my absolute favorite character.
Sweet summer girl, welcome to Westeros.
"I don't think this is siblings bevaviour"
6 minutes later... 😂
It’s a good idea to watch with subtitles on. It will help a lot with character names & place names.
Also, watching the Histories & Lore videos at the end of every season (at least for the first 2 or 3 seasons) will really help you understand the world.
(I still want to see a reactor watch season 1 having seen the season 1 Histories & Lore video beforehand).
Respectfully disagree. While it does make things clearer, the closed captioning gives up emotional or impactful dialogue before the characters say it, and then it hits different.
@@kenzie9303 The proper solution to this is to watch each episode a 2nd time with subtitles on. It really helps making sense of the 75 named characters appearing in the first season alone.
Ah, you are leveling up.
One of the best shows ever.
I can’t believe you’ve done this… I’m obsessed
It looked like you were taking actual notes - that's absolutely the best idea! There are SO many characters and locations and histories to keep track of.
OMG !!!
I'm soooo excited you have started reacting to GOT, Lexie.
Ohh sweet summer children
Love your reaction ❤️❤️
Plus I love your observation about difference btw Sansa & Daenerys view of Arrange Marriages
Good catch
This is a heartwarming show about family.
SPOILERS
I laughed when she wondered who the main character was. The book has nine POV's.
Lexi: It had murder, rape, incest.
Honest trailer guy's voiceover: And that's just the first episode.
Honest trailer of GoT is super funny! And its the only one I can show to some people since it blocks out all the nudity.
murder, rape, incest, sounds like The Bible ha ha ha
Is that really a spoiler?
@@Gwenhwyfar7 I wasn't taking any chances. I could see some people seeing it that way. And if people see it as one and don't wish for any type of future information *_OF ANY KIND,_* I try to remember to put a spoiler warning. It's, at best, the polite thing to do, even if it isn't considered a spoiler by some. It may be by others. And if it isn't by anyone, no harm or foul has been done.
@@Buffy8Fan Let's remember to remind her of that quote when she watches Honest Trailer.
Omg no way?!!! This is one of my favorite shows! Fucking exciting ❤❤❤
(No spoiler) 😊The guy who died (Jon Arryn) was not the king, but the Hand of the King. This is why Ned has been asked to be the new Hand. The king we met (Robert) has been king for quite a while at the time of the pilot. He and Ned fought a rebellion against the former king, who was the father of the siblings we met in Pentos, the Targaryens.
And! Jon Arryn was Catelyn's (Ned's wife) sister's husband. The same sister who sent the message.
and the "'hand of the king" is basically the prime minister / Grand vizier / Chancellor in this kingdom.
It’s like Vice President. You assist the king and can stand in for him in official business. With very bad or neglectful kings, the hands sometimes end up ruling the kingdom from behind a curtain. It’s an important position. Jon Aryn was hand just as long as King Robert has been king (post-rebellion) but not before. There was another King (Targaryen) who had a different Hand. But you’ll learn a lot about that as you go.
@cyrilmeynier5688 the king shits and the hand wipes
Oh cool, Lexi is watching another show I've seen. Jon Arryn, the guy who was poisoned, wasn't the king. He was the 'hand of the king' (a title for the second in command and the king's chief advisor). This is the position the king, Robert Barratheon, wants Ned Stark (Sean Bean) to take on, and which Ned's wife really doesn't want him to take. But don't worry. The early seasons do an excellent job with their character work. You'll catch on faster than you think and know everyone.
oh hell yeah, first lost and now GoT, I'm so glad you're checking out all my favourite shows xD
"the things you do for love"
gosh such an iconic show
I'm going to give you a small example of how all the dialog matters, even when it seems insignificant. In the scene where the young boy is being taught archery....he is told "Father is watching." Indicating the father of both of them. And then it is said, "And YOUR mother." So, not the mother of the speaking character. That would give a small clue as to why there was a strange look between the mother and the black haired archery trainer. The son of her husband from a different woman. A small dialog exchange, but containing very important information.
Good example. I always tell first time reactors, “There are no throw away lines. Every line means something. It might not be important for an episode, or an entire season, but every line is telling you something important”
Ah, Season 1, when the show was written with care, skill, subtext, and theme.
Yes, the other Stark child is the youngest. His name is Rickon, but many season 1 viewers know him as “Who?”
I gotta say that I’m impressed at how much you picked up and put together upon first watch.
This show is going to blow your mind.
The first four to five seasons are just the best television I’ve seen.
This is my first time seeing you. I don’t know how I found you…the algorithm rules all, I guess. But, I’m glad. I can’t wait to take this journey with you. Great content. See you for episode 2
Omg, I thought you already had seen this Lexie! Another show I will rewatch through your eyes, now that both Buffy and Angel is over! Can't wait to see your reactions to this show too, you're one of my favorite rectors! ♥
"Maybe just take the quick beheading, sounds like a good death" 😂 I can already tell I'm going to enjoy your reactions to GoT.
Wow! Lost and GoT! 😍🤩🔥🔥
You're really catching on quick, man you are in for a ride. Really impressed with your reaction!
Enjoy your journey through GOT!! I can recommend taking notes to help remember all the characters you're going to meet. Thanks for sharing your reactions with us!!
Love your reaction, really fun commentary!
I imagine someone already commented on this, but the guy who died - Jon Arryn - was not the former king, he was the former Hand of the king (the job Ned is taking now)!
If it helps at all, my mom is really uncomfortable with on-screen violence and she still loved this show. But also, it can be a lot, and your mental health comes first! If you need to take it slow or even quit, that's totally ok. That said, I'm pretty excited to see what you think!
Good luck on this journey. “We wish you good fortune in the wars to come.” It’s helpful to know that what happened in the past (that is mentioned or referred to in little moments of dialogue) is sometimes just as important as what’s happening in the present. There are little mysteries and little nuggets to discover about past events if you’re paying attention. ❤
Oooh, boy! Lexi, let me tell you, are you for a RIDE!
Excited for you! Such an amazing journey ahead.
OMG LEXI BIG BUFFY FAN, I love game of thrones so excited you’re jumping into this
Oh Lexi! You’re one of my favourite reactors and this is one of my favourite shows but I’m worried for you summer child. Not sure you’ll cope!😂
I've enjoyed your Buffy reactions and now I'm excited to see you begin your Game of Thrones journey!
A dire wolf was a wolf that existed a long ago around 125,000-9,500 years ago and is now extinct.
Your buffy and Angel reaction let me found your channel. But now you have my attention. This could be a interessting Journey for you and us viewers. Enjoy the Journey.
I am *SO* not ready to wait for reactions for this haha. I absolutely love your reactions and I know that GoT will be a phenomenal experience for you and your channel. I'm excited =)
The guy in the middle must be our main character. OH MY SWEET SUMMER CHILD!!!!!
Great reaction, I can't wait to see how much you enjoy this show as you get into all of the wonderful characters, good, bad, evil, and highly disturbed! There are some amazing times ahead for you!
New subscriber, can’t wait to rewatch this show through your pov! It’s a rollercoaster but sooo worth it!
I'm so excited that you are watching this! It's an amazing rollercoaster ride of emotions and you're going to love it!
The person who has been killed, was "Hand of The King".(basically the right hand of the King) Jon Arryn, who is married to Lysa Arryn (Cat Stark's sister). The current king Robert has been king for about 16 years by the first episode and he is married to the Queen Cersei Lannister (the female of the twins).
Ned Stark has now taken the position of the man who was killed and will arrive in Kings Landing as the "Hand of The King". His children are Robb, Jon, Sansa, Arya, Rickon and Bran. With all but Jon also being Catlyn's children.
The siblings in Pentos are Viserys and Daenerys Targaryen and she has just married Kahl Drogo.
I hope this helps. There are a lot of details coming as we spread out into Westeros.
I hopr you enjoy the series 😁
Hello, I haven't seen your channel before but I'd just like to say, that was great fun to watch, and you picked up so much, so quickly! The only big misunderstanding was you thinking that Jon Arryn was King - no, Hand of the King, it's why Robert rode all the way to Winterfell to get a new Hand.
"The one in the middle must be our main character' - GOT gives all of us a sharp awakening at some point!
I think the shock value of episode 1 is definitely needed to desensitise you to what follows. 😮
Well, that and it lets everyone know what they're in for. "Leave now if this isn't for you, don't say we didn't warn you" kind of thing.
This is gonna be a fun reaction journey to follow.
I already adore you and your reactions. Subscribed!
Oh boy, this will be a fun journey. Good luck. There are a lot of names, places, and schemes thrown at you in this show. 😅
Excited for this journey. Enjoy the road..
Ill be here for all of it. And soon on patreon too.
❤❤❤
Ray.
Welcome to GoT, Sweet Summer Child!
Jon Arryn, the man who died in the beginning, was the Hand of the King, a sort of "Prime Minister".
Robert Baratheon is king now, also called "The Usurper".
Before Robert, Aerys Targaryen was king: he was the father of Daenerys and Viserys, who are trying to acquire an army to reconquer their father's throne.
More clarifications will come, do pay attention to the dialogue. I recommend subtitles!
Ooooh, excited to watch this with you after following your journey through Buffy! I watched this after a few seasons when it caught fire - I'm a fantasy book person, so I was wondering how this was so popular with every type of person. Without spoiling anything, the characters and world building are going to suck you in and once you're invested you come back for the drama.
Very perceptive. Intelligent. This journey will be amazing to take with you
Oh YES, I have been desperately waiting for a show of which I can watch your reactions again after you finished Buffy. All your other shows I have not watched yet unfortunately. Looking forward to your take on GoT.
No spoilers from me but another fun fact .. the scene when king robert arrives at winterfell and you see jaime lannister arrive you can hear Arya say that's the queens twin brother.. the dialogue was added after the scene was shot because it wasnt that obvious who he was. There are a lot of brother and sister announcements in the first few episodes so you know who is related to who.. its a lot to take in but gets easier.. happy watching. Ned has 5 children to katlyn Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran & Rickon and 1 more is Jon Snow which makes 6 in total
A new sweet summer child !!!! Oh Sweetie, good journey, ! Ihope to continue till the end, amazing and brutal show !
I found your reactions so insighful. I love to watch intelligent reactions to GOT like your pilot episode reaction. I've subscdibed to follow your journey.
I'm a little late to this reaction but Lexi is getting into GOT?! Oh my goodness I am here for her commentary 😂. Yay! 🤗
Loved your reaction, I can't wait to watch your Game of Thrones journey!
I loved this review so much I had to watch it twice. You are so gonna love and hate this show. Welcome aboard!
Well this is a nice surprise! I look forward to watching the first five seasons along with you! 😂
I re-watched Buffy with you after you were long done with it. I'm excited to be able to re-watch this with you in real time.
So many characters to keep track of in this for sure. It's take a bit to navigate, haha.
Oh, Lexi. It is a truly spectacular show, but yes be ready, it will hurt you
Oh i am so so so ready for this
Welcome to this crazy ride
Yaaay!!!! New reactor. I'm here, subbed and strappedin
Welcome! I would write down names. Point of warning, we are all mad here!
I suggest you start taking notes, because the amount of families, characters and places this show have is like, insane.
Thanks for choosing this show, Lexi! I, myself, started also late with the show when it was nearly at the end; but it became one of my favourites, because it has all the elements: drama, action, mystery, action, politics, suspense, humour, but above all (in comparison to other “action/fantasy” shows it has beautiful dialogues and great acting.
Because of the many storylines, places and names (of people, houses, places,…), some reactors take notes. I think I should have done that.
Sometimes the show can be hard to watch especially for anyone with a great feel for justice and some scenes are that brutal that you just have to look away. You just have to wait/watch for silver linings.
I wish you a great journey, warm regards from a fellow countryman! Oh, I don't think I'll spoil something by saying we will be seeing two Dutch actors sometime in the show.
Some tips & advice for a Sweet Summer Child..
Use captions.. makes a HUGE difference & helps learn names..
Consider comment moderators.. some people can be jerks..
The opening changes each episode.. it’s a map & it shows, roughly, the locations featured in the episode..
Don’t panic.. you won’t be confused forever.. promise..
You will think you’ve become a ‘Man of Winter’ at least 3 times before it actually happens..
You will have to convince yourself to continue & not abandon the show entirely at least twice..
No matter what you’ve heard about the ending, it’s still worth it..
Yes to moderators. Many people are just too dumb to realise they are spoiling when hinting at stuff or mentioning future developments. The typical "can't wait to see how you feel about character X in Season N" already says too much.
2:11, You are not super lated the party, you just come of age. Good luck😂
My favourite reactor reacts to my favourite show? welcome sweet summer child!
You are watching 2 of my top 3 favorite shows (Lost and GoT)! Can't wait for you to experience them, you are in for a ride.
The advice I would give for watching this show is the same that is given for _A Series of Unfortunate Events,_ if you should ever want to watch that one: "Look away, look away."
But you're not going to do that, I guess. You're going to continue watching this one, and dragging me along for the ride, enjoying your reactions in spite of myself. Brave girl, mademoiselle, you sweet summer child. I wish you the best of it.
(For what it's worth, that other show, _Unfortunate Events,_ has a total of 25 episodes. Much shorter, and useful if you ever have a slot you want to fill without a long-term commitment.)
Very fervently different show, but both unfortunate.
THIS is the first episode... You've got a long exciting way to go... 😁😁😁👍👍👍
And now her watch begins, it will not end till the end. I shall take no pauses, watch no other reactors. I gave myself to this reaction in this night and all the nights to come. Welcome!!))
Finally, I'm here for the ride...
Ohh my sweet summer child! you are now in the Game...
Rule N° 1: You will never skip the intro. Some episodes in the future has pre-intro scenes.
Welcome to the GOT fandom!
Plus it introduces you to the various places in the world
Be careful going down this rabbit hole! 🤣
Really glad this is what you're watching next. Love GoT. Also, really, really looking forward to you starting season 2 of Lost, Lexi. Can I recommend that the next show you cover be Stranger Things?
Rewatching the scene where Ned beheads the deserter and makes Bran watch to desensitise him makes me realise this was also to desensitise the viewer 😂 telling him to look is like telling the viewer to also look
Oh, no. Pray for Lexi. 😄
The family tree is indeed complicated. For reference, and without spoilers, here are the important characters that you met in this episode, and what we THINK we know of them by the end of the episode (though occasionally that may be wrong):
- Eddard (Ned) Stark: Lord of Winterfell, and Warden of the North. He's the one played by Sean Bean.
- Catelyn (Cat) Stark: Ned's wife. Mother of Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran, and Rickon.
- Robb Stark: Oldest son of Ned Stark, and heir to Winterfell.
- Sansa Stark: Oldest daughter of Ned Stark. She's the pretty one who begged to go to King's Landing and marry the prince.
- Arya Stark: Daughter of Ned Stark. She's the tomboy, the one you marked as your favorite (she was mine as well, for quite a while, though favorites shift over time).
- Bran Stark: younger son of Ned Stark. He's the climber, the one who got pushed off the tower at the end of the episode.
- Rickon Stark (barely seen): Youngest son of Ned Stark.
- Jon Snow: Bastard son of Ned Stark. His last name is "Snow" because all highborn bastard children from the North are given the surname, "Snow," to mark them as bastards.
--- Note: In the books, Robb, Jon, Sansa, Arya, Bran, and Rickon are ages 14, 14, 11, 9, 7, and 3. But all of the children were aged up between 2 and 3 years for the show.
- Benjen Stark: Brother of Ned Stark. A Ranger with the Night's Watch. He's the one Jon was begging to let him join.
- Theon Greyjoy: Ward of Ned Stark, and friend of Robb. He's the one you said you didn't like, because he was eager to kill the pups. As for what it means to be a Ward... basically Theon's dad did some war stuff, and so Ned has Theon to make sure his dad doesn't do more war stuff. He's a well-treated long-term hostage, basically.
- Robert Baratheon: the king. Bearded guy who accused Ned Stark of being fat. :)
- Cersei Lannister: his wife, the queen.
- Jaime Lannister: Cersei's twin brother.
- Tyrion Lannister: Cersei's and Jaime's younger brother, played by Peter Dinklage.
- Joffrey Baratheon: the oldest son of Robert and Cersei, and heir to the throne.
- Myrcella Baratheon: daughter of Robert and Cersei (rarely seen).
- Tommen Baratheon: younger son of Robert and Cersei (rarely seen).
--- Note: the Lannisters are the lords and wardens of the West.
--- Another note: Robert Baratheon used to be in love with Ned's sister, Lyanna Stark. She died, so he married Cersei Lannister instead.
- Jon Arryn: Previous Hand of the King, Lord of the Eyrie, and Warden of the East. He was dead at the beginning of the episode (the one with the painted rocks on his eyes). Apparent cause of death: sudden fever. Succeeded by his wife, Lysa Arryn (sister of Catelyn Stark) and son, Robert (neither of whom you've met, though they're mentioned).
- Prince Viserys Targaryen: Exiled prince on the run. Son of King Aerys, who was killed in Robert's Rebellion. The Targaryens were kings and queens in Westeros for centuries, but Robert's Rebellion ended that.
- Princess Daenerys Targaryen: Daughter of King Aerys. She's the one who was essentially sold to Khal Drogo in this episode, for an army.
- Khal Drogo: Leader of one of the Dothraki hordes, and now Daenerys' husband.
- Ser Jorah Mormont: Knight who now serves Viserys.
--- Note: in the books, Daenerys is 13 at the beginning. Thankfully, they aged her up few years as well for the show, just like they did the Stark children.
The world has three main continents. The two that matter (one of them doesn't) are Westeros, west of the Narrow Sea, and Essos, east of the Narrow Sea. Everybody in the show is in Westeros, except the Targaryens and the Dothraki, who are in Essos.
Oh, and one other thing to know about the world... the further north you go, the colder it is. At the Wall (the setting of the beginning of the episode), it's always "winter" by most people's standards. But seasons don't actually pass in that world in any kind of regular way. Years can go by without a winter, and sometimes winters can last years.
Just when I thought I was out, You pull me back in! One of the few shows after Buffy that grabbed my attention and kept it, loosely based on events throughout British history (very loosely) I mean the Welsh Flag has a Dragon for a reason 😉
This honestly one of my all time favourite shows it is a roller coaster of emotions. Enjoy the ride
Oh boy… so it begins
Super here for it!! It IS intense, but, it is amazing!!!
Also we are all glad that you are here for it!!
Bran being thrown from the window... That was really brutal and shockingh... Fortunately, the show never went back to such levels of violence afterwards.
Really enjoyed watching your reactions to BTVS, and now I GoT. Can hardly wait.
It's going to be a long week between these! :D
I wish you good fortune in the wars to come 😊
