    On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
    If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

      However remember to not corelate Datalink and Radar, as the former can not influence the later: all the datalink does is tell you what the others see by combining a net of comunication and geographical infos to guarantee maximised Situational Awareness, but if the radar has no return waves (or if they get ignored, which may happen for several reasons including weak signal and pulse doppler filters), it will not see the bandit. The F-15EX is essentially supposed to be a missile truck that will support the f-22 and f-35. I believe the idea is the stealth fighters go up ahead since they are stealth and use their radar to lock targets and then use data link too guide missiles fired by the f-15EX . But the Air Nat Guard is also getting f-15EX as a direct replacement for the f-15C. in the Nat guard they will still maintain the crew of one pilot even though there is space for two crew. The airframe is essentially a highly upgraded Strike Eagle.

    The F15EX is an E with Fly by wire, slightly more powerful engines, better offensive and defensive suites, new cockpit with a huge display. The FBW enables the use of the outboard station on the wings. The EX's will probably be flown more without the CFT's than the E's because they are filling the C's role. A F15E without CFT's is a F15C airframe with a little over 3k lbs but with about 11k more thrust but E's hardly ever fly without CFT's. An EX without CFT's will be more than a match for a C in BVR and WVR.

    • @counterair173
      @counterair173 Před rokem +7

      You almost nailed it.
      Weight difference is not even close to 3k lbs when C compared to E, as C is a bit heavier than quoted from public docs and EX trade punches with E. Also, max thrust differential is only viable as uninstalled thrust. What really makes EX moving the air better are GE 129 engines which have significant advantage of excess thrust between M1,2 and M2,0 speed envelope. ANG did not purchase CFTs as part of cost reduction measure, at least not in initial budget forecasts. For ANG air defense role, CFTs are not a must which will, in turn, generate a lot of flight hours of very nimble F-15 mimicking C role, just as you mentioned. Very, very interesting show by all means.

      If it showed the enemy's distance and altitude and also didn't disappear the moment you get a radar lock, that'd be something. You could replace the HSD with TGP so you can see missile launches as they happen instead of having to guess. As it stands the only real use I have found for it is shooting at targets that are chasing me. It allows me to really easily get an ACM lock once the target is in radar gimbal range. Rudder work is also integral to ACM, especially in high off boresight merges. See those big twin vertical stabs on the Eagle? When we saw ones like it on the MiG-25 Foxbat in leaked images and footage, we were horrified because it would mean nothing we had on the drawing board or in the pipeline would match it in a turn fight. We rushed and put all our effort into F-15, making it well armed, powerful and highly agile in anticipation of having to go toe to toe with the Foxbat. Ends up they made it out of stainless steel, insanely thirsty engines and a flight regime made to take down the then cancelled B-70 Valkyrie. Not until MiG-29 and SU-27 did F-15 have a worth adversary in any flight regime, besides our own F-14 and F-16.

      @michaelthayer5351 Před rokem +24

      That might be sarcasm but I'll explain anyway:
      Basically, from what I understand the F-35s fly further ahead with their stealth and have a datalink with the F-15EXs that are some miles back, the F-15s launch their AMRAAMs at max range while the F-35 systems take over terminal guidance to the target. Wonder how the Air Force would tally the kills though, as the F-15EX fired the missile but the f-35 used its radar to guide it in.

      The entire squadron shares its targeting and telemetry data over datalink. If one craft can see a bandit, any of the others in the squadron can see and fire on it as if they saw it, themselves. Get the F-35 in closer due to its stealth to mark the targets, relay the info to the Eagle IIs and then let them fire BVR.

    According to an F15EX pilot that also flew the F15E the EX is superior to the E in air-to-air combat and just below. The c model in terms of air-to-air superiority. One thing I've Noticed in DCS? Is The cockpit still Shows. The E Model not the EX which is full digital Cockpit and has fly by wire controls. I'm guessing the flight model is that of the older E and not the EX meaning. The EX would be superior air-to-air in DCS if modeled correctly, that is just my assumption.

    The F15EX is essentially supposed to use datalink to lob off missiles while using its improved cross section to get a little closer to targets than say a regular F15E. Still not invisible but definately harder to see. Since F22s and F35s would be guiding AMRAAMs in to their targets via datalink (while launching their own) it would essentially be able to help those stealth fighters clear the skies much easier. Once skies are clear the F15EX basically becomes a bomb and atg missile truck. Able to carry much more than an F35 or F22 for strike missions.
