  • I used to watch Benjiro's channel a lot. Benjiro's recorded conversations helped me a lot and I'm now trying to post out my conversation videos as well. Learn Japanese from our conversation.
    Instead of the usual italki lesson, I'm having a slightly more formal Japanese lesson with a professional teacher from Hanayoku. Hanayoku has kindly offered to sponsor my lesson and the subtitles that you see in the video.
    I've added the links below in case you'd like to check it out. These are NOT affiliate links and I do not get any commission if you take lessons.

    I have a frustrating experience. Not knowing where to begin or hitting a plateau can feel demoralizing and make it hard to hit the books and study like you know you should…Having friends from other cultures makes me more creative. In fresh ways about space and how people create their own world and environment. It is best way to connect between creative thinking and cross-cultural relationships.

    Hello, I just found your channel! I've been studying Japanese for a bit over 2 years and Benjiro's videos have been a lot of help, glad to see some more content in a similar style. It got to the point where I was so familiar with what they were about to say that it probably wasn't as effective for studying anymore 😂. In this video you said you used Tobira - I'm on the last chapter now, would you recommend using Shin Kanzen Master afterwards? The N3 series? Either way I'll probably take a break from textbooks for a little bit to try and fill in some gaps in my vocabulary, but I'm curious about your opinion. Anyway, thank you for uploading these, I've only watched this one so far but I'm sure all the others will be just as helpful! By the way, I think you should keep the spirit of Benjiro alive by asking everyone if they have ever given their dog chocolate before :P.

    • @GermaineJapanese
      @GermaineJapanese  Před 2 lety

      Hahahha, Benjiro and his random questions! I’m always so happy to find other people who have binged his content.
      To be honest, if you are done with tobira (and have learnt most of the vocab and grammar points), you should be pretty much done with N3. For me I used the Shinkanzen series alongside the Tobira but it required a lot more discipline. Basically a lot less fun. If you want to do vocab and grammar exercises to reinforce the knowledge, you can, but otherwise, you can start moving onto N2 material stuff already.
      I have the n2 shinknzen books but I find them a bit of a bore to work through. After Tobira, I actually focused less on JLPT material and tried to consume more Japanese media.
      However, recently I’ve started to feel a little stagnant, so I’ve been watching CZcams videos with N2 vocabulary level sentences, just to expose myself to newer vocabulary. So yea, in short, you can consider the shinkazen series but they require a lot of self-discipline. I’m not sure if I have a better suggestion textbook wise but I would start listening to the N2 vocab sentences on CZcams!

    • @John-rw1ec
      @John-rw1ec Před 2 lety

      @@GermaineJapanese Thanks for the advice! I should be done with this last Tobira chapter by the end of the month - I'm excited to jump into more native material next year! I have to say though, although I can read all the material fine, I still struggle a lot listening to the sound files, which is a little frustrating as I know that I already know all the vocab and grammar. Did you have the same experience?

    • @GermaineJapanese
      @GermaineJapanese  Před 2 lety

      Hi, for italki, they have both trained and untrained teachers but for Hanayoku, all their teachers are professional certified Japanese teachers. So far, my experience with the teachers at Hanayoku has been great. What I like is that the teachers always seem to take the lead in the lesson. Each teacher also seems to have their own style of teaching. To be fair, for my italki lessons, they've mostly been with untrained teachers so it's a more of just casual conversations so far.
