Andy was and will be one of the strongest, most technical and best Kyokushin karate players of all time.
Never give up.
OSU, Sensei.
will be? Andy passed on August 24, 2000
@@TAROTAI😅he meant will forever be ig
In japan, the crowd is traditionally quiet, so to hear them all go "OOOOHH" when Hug does his Axekicks, is just awesome.
we will rock youを聴くと今でも袖無し道着姿で花道を歩くアンディの入場が目に浮かびますね!
I think we all miss Andy Hug ! He was a good man.
I loved this era. There was so much respect for each other and it was a time where anybody could have won.
Dedication before $$$ Started to Influence the Social-Environment. GREAT DECADE
Two legends! Respect for both. Miss these guys...
RIP Andy Hug
Great respect for both fighters. RIP A.H.

R.I.P Andy Hug. One of the best fighters. His axekick was awesome to watch.
When I was younger I choosed favorites. Today when I get older I can't choose between this guys or another classic K-1 era fighters. I just enjoy the spirit of the warrior combined with great sportsmanship and athletic skills. What an era was K-1 classic GP 's....miss those days so much
MISS SO MUCH...
K1....
Proud to be New Zealander to see Ray up here mixing it up with the Legend Andy. Much respect to both and a Bow of respect to you Andy (a True Champ).
I know this is a 9 year old comment, but that's exactly what I thought whilst watching this, ray sefo's technicality in this fight is far superior than the fight he had with Mark. All whilst I was watching this I was asking myself what will win the fight, Boxing or Muay Thai? It turned out the boxing exchange ended it. It is interesting to see, because both were good technicians.

RIP Andy Hug. You were the best and will never be forgotten
I love how back then the fighters had honour and respect for each other. None of the horrible swearing and trash talk like ke in the UFC with trash let ke Conor McGregor.
Hug was a gentleman warrior with class.
So true bro..
u never heard of muhammad ali? u never heard of mike tyson in 90s ?
8:09 awesome spinning side kick counter!
SpartanfighterX10 a one in a million counter kick as he used the momentum given by andy's kick as energy to launch his own spinning kick...totally awesome
One of the most beautiful exchanges in combat sports
What phenomenal athletes. Such a brilliant display of finese and technique for such large humans.
These were two of the ‘smaller’ guys in K1 lol
amazing, excellent quality for the 90s! thank you very much :)
❤
This man was the Nureyev of combat sports. He made fighting an art form akin to ballet. He was both graceful and lethal. Extraordinary
Very well said 👌
Andy Hug I can bet that he's the best till now 2021
We miss you in Andy 😔
we all miss the samurai. ty for the vids so we can, at least, watch him again.
Salut,
People saying Sefo took a dive didn't see him get clipped twice before getting a solid right hook at the end of a 3 punch combo (the first 2 was a set up). Ray was the type of fighter to act up when he got hurt Andy Hug saw through it when he stuck his chin out after getting tagged with the arcing left hook, that's the one that did the damage. He would've instinctively gone down (like boxers taking a knee to recover) instead of staying up dazed and sustaining more damage.
Pure dive... Rigged as hell... Hardly touched him lmao tickle tickle.... Done!
to be precise, Ray lost at 12:18 the rest was a formality
we miss u andy... and now u r a real star shining in the sky..
R.I.P. Andy! 🇨🇭 Power!🥊 Champ.!
The ref in this fight was nobuaki kokuda, the same person Andy hug fought in 1993 K1
My hero!!!!
We miss you Andy...OSU!!!

Two great fighters,, the floors' abit slippery,,Ray has fought every one..had a great career..Andy gone far too young.. ..always remembered as one of the best fighters, and an inspiration to all up and coming young fighters R.I.P. worldwide.
Idolo....Andy Hug.....
"Andy, hands up! Andy, hands up!..." - That's still the problem with kyokushin karate even today.
yeah thats true.. but on the other hand, fighting with gloves on is absolute bullshit, and hitting the face bare handed like they did in kyokushins early days isn't that great either because often you would get a broken jaw or nose..
Nick Karatekid That's the reason why traditional schools of Karate don't have competitions and even sparring sessions.
But what I was trying to say was that Andy had the bad habit of not protectiong his face - all because of Kyokushin sparring.
Oyama opposed to the form of Kumite stablished by Funakoshi, and created the full-contact Karate. But, once the strikes were real, his students could not strike in the head, nor use elbow or knee strikes. In Funakoshi's old form, all kinds of strikes were allowed (depending on the condition of the floor, even grappling and takedown techniques), but you could not strike strong. For me, that's still the best way of sparring.
For competitions where the victory comes by knockout, though, I don't know how could it be. The best model, I guess, is a kind of MMA - like the old Karate was - but maybe without elbow strikes or something of this sort.
for you best way of sparing is a fake sparing?shotokan practitioner will get wasted by kyokushin,or muay thai fighter under a minute, fighting is not just technique, its ability to hold pain and keep continue fighting with sharp brain ,pain drains down energy and thinking ability, also chaos in mind and stress, to handle this takes years of sparring otherwise everyone could fight, it comes only by sparring the way you going to fight,I trained In japan at jka honbu, when someone with low stance low arms attacks you with gyaku zuki, instinctively you want elbow or counter knee, but they do not know about that because they do not practice.
who said Conor is a great fighter?
Beyond the Fredy´s Mercury face there is the best fighter: we salute you Andy, my respects!!
@Macallec Thanks.
All guys are pretty good fighters.
No commentary makes it extra epic.
Saya suka ola raga tsb. Trims

Mistrz, nic dodać ,nic ująć.
@villainDOOM1 I feel the same about this too...great warriors back then!
I wish Andy would have established his own Karate school in Japan.
Pretty good? Andy hug is the best fighter of al time.....Just legend
R.I.P Andy
All time? No, in MMA is Fedor Emelianenko, in Muay Thai is probably Saenchai, in K1? Ernesto Hoost or Peter Aerts or Andy Hug
Huh? 🤦🏻♂
@@vlahell in Muay Thai is probably Samart .In MMA, probably Jon Jones, GSP, Spider, Demetrious or Fedor .
Andy was strong and definitely is great but Francisco Filhio was better than Andy, but he still is possibly one of the greatest fighters in kykoshin, and k-1 history
Un combat d'anthologie. Magnifique.
Great fighters
Two king. Nice video
to my friends who sit around watch k1 all day. what up
The exchange at 8:10 is poetry in motion.
Was the best fight in this world and after 👏👏👏

Sefo, o melhor boxe do K1
