Every time they argued and he lost to her brilliant comeback he took notice. She challenged him at every turn so he couldn't help but fall in love with her.
Both of u are right in your point of view...in ancient china powerful man have a lots of wife for maintaining their position ..it was so common that time..but every of his wife were always busy in power struggling.and they even made use of their husband's love as a tools to gain a top position in harem.i blv it was so frustrating things for man too... Wallace character is same in this drama.but he found seven different from them because she didn't have any interest in power struggling..she always argue with him to make her thoughts clear,not just only oiling him for prefer her more..she is strong headed.i think that's why Wallace fall in love with seven..☺️

His mother's twisted version of preserving their bloodline is what led to their chaotic household. His late wife also played a major role in the dysfunction. Madam Xu put all her hopes and dreams for the future on Lingyi which is why the younger son didn't have any concubines. In the end I'm glad that Lingyi finally got the life that he wanted

Actually, it was mentioned about her being beautiful. The Great Madam where Shiyian had the debate with Ou madam and Erqiang mentioned it. Throughout the drama, there have been mentioned made as well.
She was called beautiful quite a lot of time throughout the drama. Her father and stepmother mentioned it when she first came back to Luo house. Her mother in law called her beautiful and even during that garden party other old madams called her beautiful. But you are right that xu lingyi didn't fall in love with her for her beauty. He had so many beautiful concubines but he wasn never interested in them. even his first wife was beautifull, he treated her respectfully how a wife should be treated but there wasn't mutual love between them. It was shiyi niang's character, her honesty and her intelligence, her unique views of the world that made him fall of her so bad.
