- Accepted into ONLY 1 out of state school? 15 College Decisions Reactions for 2021-22!
At the time of applying, I researched and liked all the schools on my list, although in hindsight I would’ve applied to 1-2 more safety schools. Working with friends on completing college apps over winter break made things more doable. I put my parents through a lot of stress with decisions, so I’m glad I was able to make them proud in the end. I wouldn’t have gotten where I am without everyone around me. I’ll keep working harder from here on out to make the most of the opportunity I was given, because so many qualified students were denied the chance.
I’m really proud of all the seniors I know and I hope you all have an amazing college experience, because you deserve it. The decision process definitely has a lot of variability, so if you’re a younger student watching this, I hope you know that while you should put a lot into your apps, make sure that you don’t hinge everything on it. Good luck to you all!
I originally meant to make this compilation for friends and family who weren’t able to watch my decisions with me. Please understand the inconsistencies in filming, lighting, volume, captions, etc as well as the simplistic editing (built in windows free editor I’m looking at you haha). hi! tysm for the kind words :) i applied early action, so my app was due november 1, uc schools are due nov 30, and the rest of the schools are usually due around jan 1-5 (keep in mind that some schools have earlier deadlines if you submit supplementary materials like art portfolios). hope that gives you a general idea, but reach out to me at my email sjhsu425@gmail.com and i would be happy to give you a more in depth explanation with advice!

hi! thanks for the congrats :) we don't have class rank at our school (about 600 students in our grade for reference) but i took about 13 AP classes total and GPA weighted was around 4.6 or 4.7 (all A's total at the time of applying except 1 B in junior 2nd semester). i might make a video about stats and ecs so ill definitely leave details if i make one!

Do you do math competitions?
yes! i used to do math competitions when i was younger (amc, mathcounts, etc) but stopped as i explored other subjects/activities in high school. i did math modeling competitions in my junior year which actually is what interested me to pursue applied math. hope that helps, i never received major awards for any of these by the way :)
