WOW I finally got some time all to myself and I really enjoyed your video Embossing Folder Pop. Once the video finished I went through all my many many embossing folders and set them aside near my work counter to be used ASAP. I love all the backgrounds and cards. Your Techniques are the Greatest and loaded with terrific ideas. I agree with Brenda P. ANY Day that starts with Jennifer is a really good day no matter what the weather is like.
THANK YOU! I had some backgrounds that I refused to toss even though they were really awful. I pulled out my embossing folders and gave the "meh" backgrounds new life. It is amazing how the folders completely changed them.
Im glad you took time to yourself to organize your craft room. Its good to see you not feeling so obligated to stick to a particular schedule as if you owe us something. I know you never said anything in the past but having a similar personality im sure it has stressed you out before. If anything we all owe you, big time!
I love all of these, Jennifer, your crafty creativity! I buy lots of embossing folders and don’t use them!??! Thank you for a new spin on them. Have a Great Day!
such a genious technique! ... I am realy stunned! .... Each card is a work of art - something very special! Thank you so much for showing .... A big thank you and all the best from Vienna/Austria
What a superbly useful video. I have at least 12 embossing folders that I'm not using very much anymore. This is so completely useful and I had made myself a small sanding block so tomorrow is back to creating. Spent today and yesterday in this cold cold weather in Michigan making Easter cards. Trying to stay ahead of the game. Xox
Alrenew just keeps making things I have to have every time Iwhittle down the wishlist! That lace die is incredible and will have to live here soon. Thanks for the beautiful inspiration.
Absolutely one of your best videos yet!!! I walk away bursting with ideas. Your video give me such a creative boost just when I need it. Thank you so very much 😉🙃☺️😉
I always admire your color choices, which I can struggle with by overthinking. You make it look so easy. Gorgeous cards as a result. You are a great inspiration. Thanks for sharing 💕
Years ago I learned that the process in making embossing folders may cause the edges to cut through cardstock. So if this happens run a piece of chipboard through it to "sand" the edges. Of course I always spritz with water whenever using 3d folders. Thank you for the great videos and inspiration.
I was doing this technique years before the 3D embossing folders came on the market. I actually did this again recently for a special card. It really does make it 'pop'. Thanks for the refresher and a few new ideas.
Oh my 2 videos in one day☺️. Saw the other one first as that showed up first. The joy on my face and inspiration in my mind is just overflowing. Was feeling creatively 'stuck' for a while now. Hoping to at least to ink blend to start with. Thank you again Jennifer. My card making journey started with you 3 years back, always grateful for you🥰
Watching a video from Jennifer is like paying for a class in that technique. Always examples of how to achieve the look, or suggestions on other ways to get a similar affect. Then we see the technique used on several examples. This looks so fun and you have really stunning cards.
I remember doing this years back, I even had a Paper Artsy sanding block and some co-ordinations cardstock with white and also coordinating colour core. It’s a fun technique. Lovely cards
I am blown away by this technique Jennifer! I think I’ll be looking into some new embossing folders. I’ve been using a lot of stencils because of the look and the cost allows me to get more looks in my cards. Thank you for your easy to understand instruction that makes me believe I can get the same result as you even though I’ve only been doing this a few years. May you and yours remain healthy n this trying time.
Re-organizing?? Oo I hope we get a tour! These techniques today are so wonderful! Luckily I just ordered the entire new release from Altenew! Can’t wait to try it out! TYFS! ❤️🦋💜
Beautiful cards. It has been so fun watching your videos where you are using tools that, us long time stampers have had in our stash and forgotten about! This is a fantastic technique. Thank you.
Love Embossing Folders and this will revive my old ones. These are really beautiful and love the sanding technique (which I had forgotten about). Gorgeous cards!!!!! Laura
I love the Celebrate card with the blue and purple background. The pattern reminds me of the Spaceship Earth ball at Epcot. This would be a great card to give when you're taking someone to Walt Disney World for a celebration! ❤️
This is a great technique! While I was watching this I realized that I have an embossing folder that has raised dots along the top half. If I wanted a night sky, I could ink blend the entire card, use the embossing folder, and sand the dots so that they look like snowflakes or stars!
I'm loving all the new Altenew embossing folders. Your cards are just lovely and so current. Thank you Jennifer for sharing your creativity. God bless you.
Thank you for sharing your gifts with us, Jennifer. Your videos are so professional and fast-paced. We appreciate your precise editing and thoughtful presentations. They are my rewards for completing challenging tasks.
And here I am sitting with a sanding block in my stash for years! 🙄. Thanks for the reminder about this technique, the altenew release is fabulous as always and you did a great job showcasing it. Thanks 👍😊
Lol that`s funny I would like that but what can you do when you just do not have the room I am thinking I need a smaller bed so I can have more craft space.
Just a fantastic technique! I love the colorful look of all these cards, and am sure I have a few EF which could give nice results. Thank you so much, Jennifer, funny how everything old (the folders) is new again! I see so many featured on companies’ releases. 💐 💌
I haven't really use my embossing folders anymore. Only use a couple regularly. I am definitely going to give this a try. I've done similar technique with white core paper in the past with stenciling by hand with templates. I like your color blended paper with folders for sanding.
I loved this video. Great to see the sanding technique with a fresh new twist! Adding that extra colour after sanding is fabulous and just adds even more! Thank you for always creating such great content and sharing so freely. I love how your mind works, and you always do things I would never think of. Have a great weekend x
Thank you for sharing these cool techniques! Loved all the cards, but especially the ones using the lacy florals and the one with the wavy design. You’ve inspired me to get my 3D folders out and play.
A video on inks and paper will be so helpful- I’m on my first months of this new hobby and it’s overwhelming to figure out what inks to use with what paper - I have a nice collection of GinaK inks and few distress inks already - HELP! Great video.
Jennifer has done videos on using specific inks if you search the archives. What you want to know depends more upon the technique or look you are going for. Play with what you have and see if you achieve what you want. Relax and enjoy yourself, it is art and there is no wrong way. You get better with practice and you will learn how to fix mistakes along the way. Tim Holtz and Gina K both have lots of helpful videos too, check out the older stuff.
I love this technique! I realized I had a brand new 4-sided nail buffer that looks similar to the sanding block. Going to try that; one of the sides is pretty rough, so it may work.
What a great idea! I didn't think of this technique! I thought I could only do it with Core'dination! At the beginning of the video, your voice sounded sad. Hope you're well. Thanks for sharing.
Same effect as with a colour-core paper. You should be able to do the technique with any surface treatment and on any colour of paper that's compatible with the surface treatment. I have a stash of colour-core paper but this just expanded my ability to use the sanding technique. A nail buffer from the Dollar Store works as a sanding block and gives different 'grit' options.
Jennifer McGuire could make some fantastic remix videos where she discusses design principles. When you think about it, so many cards follow the same design principles even though the techniques and elements change. I think I’d also like to see messed up or less effective designs with a discussion about why the design isn’t quite as impactful. Or also, another good one would be remaking cards from like 10 years ago but with products and techniques from today. I was looking at older card designs earlier today on Pinterest and marveling at how much more dynamic contemporary cards are. Remember color core cardstock? I guess it fell out of favor, but sanding colored cardstock used to be a thing. This video is certainly a fun update on the technique.
Check out Cathy Zielske (CZ Design). She has a graphic design background and has done some videos on design principles for cards. I think you would enjoy them.

You are so kind. Thank you
Any day that starts with a Jennifer video is a good day! I'm reorganizing my craft room too......YIKES it is chaos!
THANK YOU! I had some backgrounds that I refused to toss even though they were really awful. I pulled out my embossing folders and gave the "meh" backgrounds new life. It is amazing how the folders completely changed them.
It’s always beautiful cards in your videos. Thank you for sharing your creativity
I never seem to use my embossing folders very much, but I will now! Thank you for this video.
Im glad you took time to yourself to organize your craft room. Its good to see you not feeling so obligated to stick to a particular schedule as if you owe us something. Your technique ideas never fail to amaze me. Thanks for sharing your gift of imagination.
such a genious technique! ... I am realy stunned! .... Each card is a work of art - something very special!
Thank you so much for showing ....

Gorgeous cards! Thanks for sharing your techniques on using embossing folders...
The ribbon waves embossing folder looks amazing with the sanding.
Years ago I learned that the process in making embossing folders may cause the edges to cut through cardstock. So if this happens run a piece of chipboard through it to "sand" the edges. Of course I always spritz with water whenever using 3d folders. Thank you for the great videos and inspiration.
You just gave me a great idea for some quick and easy Christmas cards using embossing folders!

Lovely colouring and great finishes to the cards!

I second that!

Wow, that tulip folder is gorgeous! I love what you did with it.
You are absolutely brilliant! Thank you for showing us many variations of the same technique.
You continue to amaze me ( in addition to making me place orders) both of which I enjoy doing, so thanks very much Jennifer! 🌿🌺🌿
Just beautiful thanks for sharing love your videos

Merci beaucoup pour votre technique. J'adore et quel bel effet.
Thank you for sharing these cool techniques! Loved all the cards, but especially the ones using the lacy florals and the one with the wavy design. You’ve inspired me to get my 3D folders out and play.
So very practical too! Can't wait for my 3D folders to come!
I've done this with white core cardstock in the past so am excited to try it with inked pieces!
Love all these examples! I have the Bergamot folder and a few others so I’m gonna play this evening!

An oldie but goodie technique!! Thank you!
It’s been a bad day so thank you very much for the two-fer of videos. Very much appreciated the break.
I love this technique! I realized I had a brand new 4-sided nail buffer that looks similar to the sanding block. Going to try that; one of the sides is pretty rough, so it may work.
I bet you will get 4 different results!
Talked about using something odd for this great idea. I also have a four-sided nail buffer that will be perfect, thank you
Must. Have. TULIPS!!
Fabulous techniques!!
What a great idea! I didn't think of this technique! I thought I could only do it with Core'dination! At the beginning of the video, your voice sounded sad. Hope you're well. Thanks for sharing.
Great use of embossing folder, blending and sentiments! You did it again! God bless and stay safe!
I AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Thank you Jennifer
