  • In episode 103 of the S3 MAGAZINE podcast, we talk about the magic of golden era Hondas. And when we say 'golden era'... we're referring to roughly the late 80s, through the 90s. At that time, Honda packed a ton of punch. They were innovating spirited-driving assets like VTEC! And they were bringing it to the people affordably! It all helped to create a new generation of hot-rodder & driving enthusiast. The podcast was spawned off a feature we did on Brand Elste's purple EK Civic coupe with a Domani front end, and a clean B16 bay. It had us feeling very nostalgic. Check out that feature here:

I work for Local Government and drive my EP3 with HKS Hipower to work couple times a week and park on the 7th floor of a parking garage. I love it.

Some of us actually drive hondas because we love the brand, not because its in our "budget." Thats why some of us that can now afford "an upgrade" continue to drive and daily hondas. We dont own the brand because its economical, we own it because we love it.

My VTEC goes BWAH! The innovation, the price, the reliability, the modularity, the list goes on!

Once I learned what VTEC was 15 years ago I was like oh perfect, I can get 30 mpg and still beat most cars on the road. I had a 96 db8 for over 100k miles, now in a k swapped 01 itr clone car. Been in the garage all summer. Everytime I take it out I get neck breakers and people saying how "clean" it is. They are really starting to come around again.

I love my 88 Civic. I laugh when the goobers in Chargers and Mustangs rev next to me. Like dude, it’s a slow, old Honda. And I love it.

I feel like you are overestimating how much things other than cash for clunkers effected the numbers, most of them were dailies for *regular people* that wouldn't have valued them enough to not send them to yards for that, also they're really reliable so a lot of them just stayed with the same owners that just want to keep using them while they still work instead of selling them. Also as a woman into cars, just because I might be into your car doesn't mean I give a shit about you, and girls that aren't into cars really don't give a shit, except for noticing lack of creature comforts, most of them like my gf just want the car to work and not have to care about it, lol.
