Because they actually did develop and learnt the truth about identities and stuff and had more grounded motivations for their actions before being steered on the right path
B-because of the 5 season development, as little as it was.
The impact of Shady and Claw is because they’re dichotomies to the OG. We’re viewing them with the benefitted comparison points of the “good outcome” compared to them. So we know where they are, we know how our characters healed from the pain before, so we just get an accelerated replay of it.
PLUS! it’s forced to do it in a short time so it works.

They brought back Cat Noir's night vision, (albeit for about 3 secs) easy 10/10 I dont even care about anything else

My one complaint: Shadybug changed her hair. I’m sorry but her hair was rocking! It’s not like the hair was evil. Could’ve kept it. Just add a girl-scout pin on her costume or something to show the “change.”
Same with CrawNoir or whatever his name is.
They should have kept their original names as well.
the design change is unecessary af. the change from shadybug to ladybug kinda made sense (still kinda annoying), but it just makes it seem like their designs are inherently evil

Shadybug was definitely the best part of this episode, her discussion in the school and screaming breakdown was simultaneously well spoken while also seeming actually frantic. I was genuinely surprised at how good that scene was. I’m slightly disappointed the designs were changed into.. basically just our world Hero outfits, but I do hope we see them all again. And I hope their characterization stays the same.
same i dont like the design changes. ik everyone complained about the green hair but it looked WAY better. plus im scared they wont have as much sass anymore and become the exact same as our lb and cn.

Claw Noir’s new look didn’t bother me as much as it was basically just a recolor. but yea it just makes me question like 80 million things. like did this redesign change what their civilian selves look like…? is that a dumb question (yes) but it would happen in this show of all things.. (specifically the hair colors of new lb and appearance.)
no literally, shadybug’s costume change was so fucking bad it’s not even funny. literally using the exact same model as ladybug- her original design, especially her hair, were extremely unique and cool. not to mention, shadybug was NOTICABLY pale, like, much paler than any other character. when she had her design change after becoming a good guy, her skin tone changed to exactly the same as our ladybug’s, because they used the same model and were too lazy to provide continuity on her skin tone 😭

Everyone seems to be emo as a citizen idk…Hot take but I really disliked the purple pigtails ladybug in 3d, it looked fine everywhere else, and this is coming from someone who actually likes a lot of the unifications that a lot of people dislike. For instance I actually really like how dynamic and stylish Bugnoir was in season 5… like she might be my favorite design in the whole show..

and yeah! the scars! like wtf? they seemed to just be gone once they changed to good guys, did they just forget or something? shadybug and claw noir even have a line about how they’re dealing with permanent damage from overusing their powers since the supreme didn’t warn them, there’s no way that just disappears when they turn good. the show always warns us of these horrible consequences of overusing the miraculous powers (which is why ladybug and cat noir had the detransformation “fail safe” thing) but never actually shows us those consequences except for with natalie (however her miraculous was broken, not overused) and i feel like this would’ve been such a good opportunity? in this episode alone shadybug and claw noir used their abilities like a thousand times without detransforming or feeding their kwamis, which they’ve likely been doing for months or years, and all they get is sick ass purple veins. like, really, it’s disappointing
Honestly, watching this special made me realize something, being evil in shows is probably the best power-up you can have, like they get all this cool shit and powers while the heroes get limited stuff.
I think there are multiple reasons for that. Not just because evil is cool.
Evil is unrestrained so they can abuse their powers more often. Evil doesn't care about collateral damage the don't care who or what is hurt when they are unleashed.
Evil rarely tends to bother with control at times so they don't so much mastery.
Like if you look at chat noir and his counter part. One is a master combatant who is more refined because he has more self control and disciplined while the other is more powerful because he is reckless and head strong.
Similarly another aspect is that Evil can choose to follow after what they desire most and use whatever methods they want.
With slow death as the price to pay...

It's one of the oldest tropes in animation and graphic novels, that characters that turn evil / are evil alt's of the usual characters get the best style and threads 🤔 .
Shadybug certainly wins hands down on style, but as per the trope her outfit has a major downgrade when she shakes off her reason for serving evil.
It's true that they were able to use their powers as much as they wanted to, but they were slowly dying because of it.
Not that that mattered in the long run though.
The way they redeemed Shadybug and Claw Noir is the way that they could’ve redeemed Chloe and Gabe!
especially chloe, gabe deserved justice but couldve gone either way redemption wise, whereas chloe actually did have a chance
TY like we see Chloe actually try to change and they butcher it all because Thomas hates her. They didnt have to make a goody too shoes Chloe just keep her same personality with a good heart minus her being a bully.

Hesperia slayed in this special, it was so refreshing to have an adult in the series that wasn’t a jerk, inept or stupid. He was a character who had realistic and understandable flaws and had good characterisation.
Genuinely a great character, wish we had a whole series about him. He still has so much more potential with his dynamics with his own son and with Chat Noir.
But yeah Hesperia slayed in this special, if he had his own series he would be such a better and more interesting protagonist compared to Marinette.
RIGHT like this guy his single-handedly fighting against a dystopian ruler with mystical powers. Powers strong enough to block Gimmi from forming without its permission.
I also loved how kind and gentle he is whenever his butterflies give people powers. He tells them of the risks, appreciates their help, and still tries to make it so they don't get hurt in the process. The way he talks with Chat to accept his power as Celesticat was genuinely so sweet. It made me so sad that Adrien has probably never heard his own dad speak to him with such gentleness in a long time. Plus, a lot of the powers he gave out were for rescue or defense.

I'm so glad this was good. Shady and her constant weapons and Claw with his puns were highlights. The Scarabella and Kitty noire dimension makes me happy

1. Zoe and Alya date.
2. Adrien and Marinette are basically Nino and Alya relationship wise. *Alya still hosts the hero blog, akin to Peter Parker*
3. Judging from the sentimonster, I actually theorize that Emilie and Gabriel SWAPPED in their fates. Where SHE used the butterfly and HE used the peacock. But she preferred the Peacock once it got fixed.
4. Zoe never lived in New York, stayed in paris. *Maybe the mayor and his wife were in swapped roles, where she was the mayor with the SAME personality, while the father was the fashion guy.*

For me the Anime dimension was my favorite.
I like how in that universe the hero is a actual adult who would do a better job then two 14 year olds. It’s also crazy how Shadybug and Clawnoir were able to take miraculous jewellery from others while hawkmoth couldn’t for like 5 seasons

I actually like the name Betterfly. It's a peaceful and kind name that can inspire those values and hope in people. "Ladybug" is just... a ladybug, but Betterfly wants to make the world a better place, and I think his intentions show in his name, even if it isn't "cool" in an edgy superhero way like Chat Noir. Betterfly Gabe's intentions are pure, and we love him for it. 🙂
Me too. I actually thought it was kind of clever. Butterfly and Betterfly while his principles are being shown with it. Honestly not a bad name for a superhero like good Gabriel.
@averyrielle He was suuuuch a sweetheart. I'd love to see him paired with those two as a parental guide figure. Ugh, I just admire him so much! Never thought I'd feel admiration toward Gabriel, but here we are! If the French are good at anything, it's a revolution! They'll save the world, I'm sure. Even better, Adrien gets to keep his super kind father. 😁

I loved this special. This is probably the best writing out of the entire show.
Shadybug and Claw Noir were better villains Monarch will ever be. Unlike Gabriel, I felt sympathy for both of them especially Claw Noir, who's pain for trying to revive his mother was truly heartbreaking. Their redemption again unlike Gabriel made me happy because at the end of the day, two miserable abused kids choosing happiness well makes me happy. Claw Noir's hair still looks stupid tho lol
I only have two problems with this special. First off, Why is Marinette so stupid, She really wrote all of her secrets in a diary..... And her worst fear was Monarch discovering his identity? And 2. When Cat got akumatized into Celesticat who is painfully similar to Cat Blanc, Ladybug felt nothing? Marinette had crippling PSTD in season 4 and now it's suddenly gone? I feel like the writers should've addressed that.
Yeah same! Just her giving a look of surprise at the transformation for a second would’ve sufficed. Missed opportunity.
The journal writing was used from the Miraculous Channel on CZcams. Then again she is a teenager so I guess she only wanted to keep it to herself in a journal to look back at hard times. I was shocked Ladybug wasn’t scared seeing someone similar to Chat Blanc
the fact that chloe managed to steal it too way back in s1 i think, weird how she isnt more secure. on the contrary, it was way simpler for shadybug to just read it than for sabrina to steal it.

Shadybug and Claw Noir were so much better than our regular duo. I really like them. For once they made Marinette truly compelling as a character without making her cringey or the narrative bending to her will as an MC. I knew I might like this Marinette and I am.glad I was right. I just didn't expect to like her and Claw Noir so well.

The evil overriding the security system seems more like a punishment. The miraculous are supposed to be only used for good, so when they are used for evil some kind punishment is given to the holder. For shadybug and clawnoir is death, and perhaps for gabe it gave super-smooth-brain. This theory would explain a lot honestly.

Im honestly more interested in the alternate world right now, frankly speaking Shadybug and Clawnoir had a better dynamic and I dunno it just seems more interesting.
I will add Shadybug should have kept the space buns and not change her hero name to ladybug. It was super on the nose and felt like it stripping her of her unique qualities that are different from Marinette. Like Clawnoir got to the keep his different hairstyle while just changing the color.

I think it would've been fine if Shadybug's design just made the red streaks in her hair pink, and maybe gave her green eyes instead while flipping which parts of her outfit have a red background and which have a black background, so instead of the middle being red and her limbs being black, it was swapped.
Idk with Claw noir though, maybe give him black hair instead and have it kinda sideswept so he looks more fashionable and less "I'm rebelling against my dad"

Good Gabe and Bad Gabe never going head to head is definitely a missed oppourtunity. Just Good Gabe saying "I'm sorry for your loss," since he would feel Monarch's pain, but is aware just how unhinged he's become, and can't help would be amazing.

It's safe to say that Miraculous is at its greatest with regard to the specials. Not only because they feel more well written, but also because you have TWICE AS MUCH TIME to tell a story. Though I will say, I feel the special still didn't need to mention Chloé. All that did was mention how Thomas is still pretty salty over the fact that Jeremy made her character better in the movie. What's next, is he going make her the butt of the joke even if she's no longer there?
I hope this is the last mention of Chloe, and this character will be like a forgotten dream.

in my opinion it shows that chloe still bullies marinette (relentlessly) in shadybugs universe. i mean there was no one really else bullying marinette besides chloe her having a bad family life sure maybe thats why she would become a villain but it would make more sense if she had a bad family life and school life aka no friends. the main reason why marinette is literally a hero and is happy is because she gets the strength she needs from her friends and family minus the family she’d still have support from her friends?

@@FlawPink In the movie, she's still an antagonist, just a minor one, and it was unrealistic for her to be a demon child, so in a more realistic story, she's just a middle school bully.
I honestly liked the special. It was so different from the show. The storyline is way better and is not rushed. I also liked when Shadybug and Claw noir felt upset when they were battling ladybug or cat noir. But as usual they wasted Chloe. If it is alternate Chloe should be good. But they didn't do that and focused on the main characters being alternate. Overall is pretty good. I was really surprised and especially when Gabriel sang the intro.
I also liked how ladybug beat him in every multiverse

cat noir comforting claw noir was actually so wholesome😭😭😭 it felt great to see him have a function in the story especially after his erasure in s4 & the s5 finale
It really moved me when they talked to "eachother", how they felt understood by the other them from other universe, they were so gentle, the regular Marinette and Adrien, they were so warm towards themselves from other universe, it was so heartwarming, at least for me, I think we should talk to ourselves like that when we feel like giving up. I really liked this episode
Agreed cause at the end of day, nobody knows your pain better than your own self.
They have confirmed at two different points in the series that Marinette uses the lucky charm way different than every other ladybug. When Adrien was Mister Bug he also pulled out a lucky charm he thought would work.
I forget which episode it is, but Marinette meets a past ladybug and the past ladybug remarks that it was odd for Marinette to leave her lucky charm up to chance.
As for the special, I LOVED IT. I wish we would’ve got this mid season. I did feel odd watching it post season 5 with all the monarch business…

Better then whole miraculous.
As a certificated miraculer who STILL judges the show highly all the time, this was absolutely the episode of a lifetime and if I had to, then I'd watch it 10 more times! LOVED the quality!!!!
This special showed me that one if the main things the main show is missing is Adrien showing emotion and just being in the show more. Here we got to see so much depth to him AND HE WAS ACTUALLY USEFUL. He gave Marinette a pep talk (ladynoir moment for the win) and actually helped in the fighting battles and talked his alternate self down. They didnt throw him to the side and you can see what a difference it makes to the quality of the show.
The only thing i didnt like was the fact that ladybug and cat noir didnt ask who betterfly was and just use common sense to fogure out Gabe is monarch. Like... even Gabe could have been like, hmmm im the villain here lemme help them out like theyre helping me. But no. Theyre still in the dark. Another smooth brained Gabe moment. (i know timeline wise it has to be consistent but it still would have been amazing to progress on that front).
And id love to see more shady noir in the future 🤞
I actually would have preferred if this took place after season 5 because it would've been a lot cooler to see a reveal between Adrien and Betterfly/Alternate Gabriel (maybe including adrien having a breakdown over realising who his father was and alternate gabriel comforting him) + obviously Marinette having an initial freakout over Gabriel being alive but I don't think the prior decision to give everyone miraculouses would've allowed for that to happen. But I guess this is a lot better than what we usually get in miraculous so even if there were missed opportunities, we got something out of it, right???

Can we just appreciate how throughout the special, they still animated claw noir with the cataclysmed hole in his chest. I pretty much forgot about it but then I saw it again half way through and it’s just amazing how they kept it in and didn’t forget about it
I wish in the scene they went in the sewers betterfly had detransformed and we had a cute moment with nooroo and him like i want so much to see nooroo happy 😭❤

22:31 In the New York special Ladybug states that her miraculous ladybug fixes the damage from a specific villain or crisis, so it makes sense that when Shadybug used her power to fix the damage she and Claw Noir had caused that it would include the damage they inflicted on their bodies from overusing the miraculous.
Plagg being bad giving advice after billion of years of existence AND being aware of Parallel Universes and what goes on in those is so fitting for him being the concept of destruction. He can't make things better but he was right about one thing. Not always. But destruction can lead to a new start.

Forget Ladybug and Cat Noir, I need a show of Shadybug and Claw Noir. I'm delighted it lived up to expectations. Shady with her constant weapons was entertaining, as was Claw with his puns and shenanigans. The emotional moments were also fantastic. These scenes were breathtaking. Adrien and Claw Noir coming up to one other about their mother's death, and Marinette telling Shadybug about her interactions with Chloe. It was really beautifully done. I found myself crying several times during this episode, and I enjoyed the ending for this Shadybug and Claw Noir, as well as one of the numerous themes about the need of surrounding yourself with good people. I hope to see more of them very soon.
I'm so salty that they took away Shadybug's buns. She looks so good in them. 🥲
This special felt way better and more emotional than the other world specials and I REALLY want to see how the other world turns out. I'll even take a comic come on Zag!
Also so it wasn't only me! It won't be canon but man I felt that romantic chemistry between Mari and Alya especially at the end. It was different but I was kinda for it for a bit lmao

Astruc said on Twitter that theres no budget for a spin off but he did majorly hint that we would see these characters again. A lot of fans speculate that Lila at the end of season 5 is being confronted by someone from the parallel universe. Could be Good Gabe, could be the Supreme…and if so, could be some major cross over in the regular series. Either way, I hope this special is the beginning of a new era for the show. It’s definitely a quality bump I believe in response to Zags film, and Im so hopeful that Season 6 is gonna “slap” as you say. I really really enjoyed this!
Please let it be The Supreme. A new overarching villain like him/her or even them (if The Supreme actually turns out to be the order of the guardians) would bring a wonderful light to the show. After season 5 I felt like it died for a while and only the new overarching plot looks promising.

Really, the worst part about this special is that this alternate world sets up a bunch of interesting shit that we're probably never gonna see explored outside of maybe a cameo in another finale.

One of the things I liked about this special was, how Shadybug and Claw Noir show what could’ve happened if Marinette and Adrien took a different route, instead of everything being reversed for the sake of it. It made the alternate universe seem more believable
Totally. Shadybug made so much sense in the end, and showed Marinette - in a way similar to Naruto's realisation about Gaara - how pivotal the bullying she went through could have ended up for her, had a villain offered her real power [even if it were of darkest evil] with which to end it, and she hadn't had her BFF's and loving parents to help her resist that temptation.
I suspect Shadybug started out by either killing Chloe (and perhaps other people who'd hurt her) in her world, or at least using her powers to exact some kind of brutal vengeance for all the years of misery... which is yet another reason why we need to see more from their reality 😁👌 .
I feel like the scene with Ladybug/Marinette talking down shadybug rationalizes marinettes decision to detransform in front of Gabe at the end of season 5 at least to some extent. It worked for shadybug, so maybe marinette thought it would work for Gabe too. Still very smooth brain of her don’t get me wrong but I feel it makes the finale a tad bit better.
Everything she does is a calculated risk. Ironically it worked out as Gabriel had already been convinced by her that a "perfect wish" that will bring his beloved back & heal him & Natalie is impossible, so he opts for the next best option of putting his life to use while he still can to both spare his son from seeing him disintegrate, while also ensuring Adrien's defacto 2nd mother lives... granted though Marinette took an insane level risk by detransforming... but ironically, it made the best outcome possible as a result, and saw Gabriel finally break his cycle and make a selfless decision, after seasons of being [basically] self-obcessed 🤔
This special actually revived my love for the show and gave me hope for Season 6.
this special just gave me hope for future specials not the future of the show but who knows season 6 might turn out good and they can do spin offs with different universes
Agreed. Tbh I almost ditched the entire series because it was starting to get all floppy but nooo apparently I can't escape this show. The specials are its saving grace and I'll eat it all up. I'm really hoping that the new overarching villain in season 6 is someone as compelling and dark as The Supreme. Like imagine that? It would be a total banger. Maybe I'm asking too much if I want the new villain to be a force of nature. One who is immortal. I'd absolutely love that.

This was an intriguing idea for a spin off or some reoccurring thing of seeing Shadybug (now Ladybug) and Claw Noir and hoping that it’s going well for them. Honestly it’s good that they explored this concept of a “what if”, they didn’t have the support system and were left alone to deal with their issues. This was an all in all amazing episode.

10/10 special, I will say though I disagree with the abusive mother thing, my impression is sabine comes across more timid and leaves marinette alone whenever she's yelled at to do so. Making their communication unhealthy in the sense that it doesn't happen over it simply being toxic.
Just makes sense to me personally since when sabine comforts marinette she immediately reciprocates without any tension, it's really sweet and a very insightful scene for fans.
Amen. Shadynette was both surprised and warmed by how caring regular Marinette's mother was, yet totally tearing up inside that her wish to be of this world and be her actual daughter had failed; a selfish wish for sure that would've cast her parallel twin into being locked into her old life (and her dark curse of being Shadybug), but an understandable desire for a character that's realised her life could be so much better, but has yet to realise how she could have it without the wish.

I think the special overall was pretty good. I really enjoyed it from start to finish. I think we missed out on a great opportunity to visit the world Shadybug and Claw Noir came from. I think this story would have worked better if it was a 90 min special so we can spend some time in their dimension and have some fun seeing the characters in a different light.

My only complaints are that this didn’t happen after season 5. I liked the idea about Adrien and Marinette learning the alternate world’s identities of shady bug and Clawnoir, respectively and thus figuring the other’s identity. Also, why in the world is so much happening in one night? First the miraculouses get stolen, then they time jump with Gabe to get the Rabbit Miraculous back, and now this! Adrien and Marinette probably slept for 2 days afterwards. Also, this probably means that Lila meets the Supreme in the finale. I really hope Adrien finds out from Ladybug that his father was Hawkmoth because Ladybug should have learned her lesson about trusting her partner when season 4 ended. That’s got to lead to at least one good storyline, right?
Who knows re' S6; but Ladybug to her credit didn't tell Adrien because it was Gabe's dying wish that his son be spared knowing his father caused so much suffering, and instead have the opportunity to focus on the few occasions when things went well between them... a big ask from Gabriel sure, but one that probably leaves his son happier and with less weight on him 🤔 .
Plus it's probably for the best that Gabe' was taken with Emilie's body, or there would have been *seeriously* uncomfortable questions to be addressed 😂
I think it should of took place in season six when they went on summer break and Lila turns into her villain form causes a little chaos ladybug and cat noir show up meet their doubles try to stop their doubles and Lila and then the rest of the movie happens like the original

This is the type of special that deserves a sequel.
Something I really liked about this special is it gives context as why Marinette chose the redemption path with Gabe. I mean, sure, he is the father of the boy she likes but the special adds to it. She had already tried with Shadybug and it worked. That probably was a big reason why she thought she could reason with Gabriel. And the damage on Shadybug and Claw Noir probably fixed itself because she probably had never used the Miraculous Shadybug power before so all the damage caused by both of them was probably fixed everywhere, including themselves. It's still the original lucky charm no matter what since she never threw it up in the air at any point in time since she didn't need to. I think the difference is our Marinette always fixes thing at the end of each battle so it's always a different lucky charm by the next battle.
This special was so good, I wish we had a show about them 💀 The episode was very nice in general, shydbugs design was great but of course claw noir has to be ugly because adrian must be made sloppy. I wish we could spend time in their dimension and see more closely their daily lives, the animation of how they transform and what kind of life they live. I thought the ending was a bit lazy and rushed. I wish the costumes hadn't changed. The emotional moments were nice, and it was really nice for them to learn their identities. This was the most successful special episode ever made.

True, I feel like Gabriel not meeting his alternate self was intentional, because Shadybug and Claw Noir meeting Ladybug and Cat Noir and connecting to them was what ultimately got them to change they would've no doubt kept being villains and slowly killing themselves from their scars if they didn't go to this universe, if Monarch met Hesperia then the rest of s5 probably wouldn't happen

I know they never will, but imagine if they made another series for the other parallel world. I think it would be a great series, just a slight change to the intro since Shady and Claw aren't evil in the end.
I would love to see how it would work, and who the supreme is, although I'm pretty sure it's Fu, but we'll never fully know.
It also would've been pretty interesting to see Hawkmoth meet Betterfly.
I know we'll never get an actual spin-off series for the parallel world, but it's a fun idea to think about!

I'm absolutely obsessed with the special- I feel like I get crazier every time I watch it. This was the first time in a _LONG_ time that I've been excited for a Miraculous episode in general, and scrambling to get my friends to watch with me upon debut was the highlight of my Saturday.
The intro? Perfection. Gabe's VA needs to stop being such a good singer. I still have his villain song from the Miraculous Movie stuck in my head.
Shadybug and Claw Noir? Somehow the best villains we've gotten in the series. It shouldn't even be all that surprising that an inverted Ladybug & Chat would have an interesting dynamic and carry such charisma as villains, but I couldn't help but be giddy over every scene - every bit of dialogue - they had. Their back and forth is SO GOOD, both with each other, the regular universe heroes, and both Betterfly and Monarch. Also, say what you want about Claw's design, but I unironically love how goofily punk it is. Like of course the model son of a fashion mogul is gonna be a tryhard in his own custom villain design. Their reformed looks feel like such downgrades 'cause their villain colors were so striking.
Doubling back to Betterfly, he made me love Gabe as a character all over again. It honestly felt like he was made to be a tragic hero as opposed to the tragic villain we've been having to sit with for 8 years. All in under an hour too!!!
AND THE SUPREME-VERSE?? This needs to be expanded on in a spin-off or something. The small bits we got from Shady, Claw and Betterfly were just too good, and I'll be so upset if this is kept to a one-off. Think about it: a super powerful entity capable of blocking the kwamis' true powers and even blocking anyone BUT The Supreme from using the wish you get with the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous??! It genuinely made me wonder how long Betterfly had been fighting for and how he was even managing to put up a fight, even with his little resistance. Or how much of an iron grip this thing has on the world to the point where Supreme-verse Marinette has no kind parents and was bullied enough _so badly_ to the point where The Supreme would even acknowledge her and give her a Miraculous.
PLUS, GABE AND ADRIEN WORKING TOGETHER ON THE SAME SIDE BY THE END IS SO CUTE!!! Granted, they don't know as far as we know, but it made me so happy. This is what Adrien needs to help him move on from his mom's death and grow!!! ... _Buuuuuuuuut,_ if the multiverse follows an inevitability principle, like Emilie being doomed to die in every universe where the Agrestes learn of the Miraculous, then it also made me think that Betterfly would've been doomed to die at some point down the line, leaving Supreme-verse's Adrien to lose both parents from the Supreme.
I genuinely wanna see _that_ universe's story play out more than whatever might drop in S6, it's actually crazy. I feel crazed.
This special did so much in such a short amount of time and it still felt like it wasn't enough. 😭😭
I honestly prefer this storyline to the actual show, a broken man who turned his life around? The supreme? Marinettes past having actual consequences on her rather than just being a stalker, i really hope we see more of this world

I'm a bit surprised that Ladybug didn't act the least bit of scared/disturbed or surprised by basically Chatblanc + angel wings... kinda off to me since it was so importantly traumatic to her before. Also, Thomas Astruc is a clown for even now pushing Chloé is bad thing. We just GOTTA have Chloé being the problem of everyone and everything huh? He didn't have to put it in at all; it could've just been "my homelife sucks, my school sucks, everything sucks." There was no reason to put in Chloé, heck, why didn't you make it Zoé that bullied her???? That would've SORT OF make sense!
Finally it would've been nice to see a lot more of the alternative world though, because I want to know more about that world rather than seeing same old same old Paris.

Nah. Chloe was always supposed to be the 2nd tier Villain. She's also a disturbingly accurate depiction of toxic nassicism at its worst.
Make no mistake: we all know someone as willfully detestable as chloe IRL, so I have no issue with her remaining unredeemed. Not everyone can be saved, especially when they don't want it.

As such I think Chloe being as bad or possibly worse than the regular universe, is all too possible.
Have to admit though an alternate universe where Chloe isn't a >colourful metaphor< would be an interesting episode idea.
(perhaps a possibly if her toxic mother had karked it or something, or some other factor led to Chloe developing a less poisonous persona)

Shadynette hated Emo-Adrien more than Claw Noir, but seems to change her outlook on both gradually after she finds out they're the same boy.
The end result probably being they end up dating, while hiding from / fighting the Supreme with Betterfly & co.
So far, my favorite miraculous world special. And one of the best episodes ever made. I liked the dynamic, and the alternate characters were a great change. My only complaint is that is wasn't long enough to properly flesh out claw noir and cat noir. shadybug basically admitted to being marinette, and figuring out that ladybug was also marinette. But it seemed like claw noir and cat noir could've had more development, to build up to the breakdown claw noir had. Chloe could've been good here though, like helping the resistance.

Shadybug and ClawNoir have more character development in 45 minutes than Adrien and Marinette in the entire show, though I liked their villain design mor than the hero ones but okay.
I’m so glad you mentioned the Alya and Marinette stuff. I so felt that when watching it myself and was like… is anyone else feeling this right now? I seriously thought they were about to kiss at the end for a moment there.
This special was amazing. Shadybug, Claw Noir and Hesperia, or Betterbug, as they call him in this special, were incredible. The things their universe has been through and the redemption of Shadybug and Claw Noir were good as well. Loved the secret diary scene was a good emotional scene. Also, I am amazed that unification didn't work for Shadybug. Whoever Supreme is, this villain is really powerful.
Also, they showed Cat Noir's night vision power after like what, 5 SEASONS!!! Couldn't they have shown this power more often in the show??? Like we literally only saw thus power back in the episode Stormy Weather. STORMY WEATHER!!! The first dang episode of the 1st season of this show!!! But, still, at least they did show it.
In addition, if Gabe could give himself the power TO TRAVEL THROUGHOUT THE MULTIVERSE why didn't he use it again!?!? Gabe, such a smooth brain.

Someone said the special was good "for Miraculous standards" and that couldn't be more the truth lol I think it was still filled with plot holes and continuity issues but compared to all the other garbage, it looked like a gem.

This concept is so good it literally deserves its own spinoff series. The idea of Gabriel as the hero is something that just works so well and his suit oh my god his suit man I was never a fan of his Hawkmoth mask. Always thought he'd look better with a different hair style, and this special does just that, and it's perfect, in my opinion. His betterfly suit is perfect. I honestly prefer Gabriel's song voice and lyrics. The lyrics sound cooler to me and the art style for the intro... is just... so good! Shadybug and Claw Noir are also really great. I love the different voice tones and the way they talk + how badass they are using their powers without limitations.
I agree that there are still issues, but the concept is so good.
If this was Miraculous going forward, I'd be completely on board.

the miraculous ladybug reverses damage done during the current crisis, ladybug participated in. in new york, it only fixed that crisis, but not the one in paris. In feast, it brought back the temple a hundred years after its destruction, because it was caused by the villain she fought, but the temple wasnt restored by all the previous uses of the miraculous ladybug, since the sentimonster, that destroyed the temple wasnt part of those fights.
Despite watching many hype videos for this special, I went in expecting nothing (mostly so I wouldn't be disappointed), but this special might've actually been my favorite! I loved every moment of this!
And yes, I adored how they FINALLY addressed the fact that Adrien should've experienced some fear or trauma from the fact that he used his cataclysm on a person and probably caused irreparable damage. I feel like they should've done even more on that, but the fact that they didn't do it at all in the regular season makes me like that they at least mentioned it here.
I also loved Adrien and Claw Noir's talk. We finally got to hear from Adrien that while he was devastated, he accepted the tragedy of his mom's death, and that his idea to use the wish in season 5 wasn't just random because of Nathalie's illness, but something he has actually thought about before.
Also, I loved the red streak in Shadybug's hair, especially with her new costume, I thought it was so cute that in the alternate universe, Adrien was the one in love with Marinette, I've always low-key shipped Alya and Marinette (despite being an Adrienette fan) and high key shipped them here, and I do believe Max is dead and his consciousness was uploaded into a robot, and I love how Alya is a hero in any universe.
Oh, and Marinette looked awesome as Ladyfly.
Also glad I'm not the only one who thought the interaction between Alya and Marinette was a little ...ERMMM? 🤔 i know ppl talk about double standards, but i've never been the type to be able to pass off certain chemistry between girls as just "bestie" behavior. But i thought no... maybe it's just me and i should ignore this... Was also pleasantly surprised by Monarch's yassified hand gestures like you mentioned.
I really love that one scene where Ladybug and Chat Noir talk their counterparts down, my only disappointment is that they don't really build up upon Claw Noir wanting his mum back a lot
Like they gave Shadybug this entire scene where they showed how messed up her life is but they really don't show too much for Claw Noir, only thing I'm really disappointed by

Since Shady and Claw got their Miraculous from The Supreme, I agree that he might be Master Fu’s dimensional counterpart. I know that we the audience may be grasping at straws, but I think it would be very interesting, and retroactively very funny, for Fu to be an even more dangerous villain then Gabriel ever was, especially given his background and expertise regarding the Miraculous. I’m also pretty sure the reason Claw Noir kept getting bodied was because, unlike Chat Noir, he doesn’t have the same training and given his unlimited usage of the power of Destruction, he probably relied on that beat stick more than Chat and never developed any sort of refined fighting prowess.
I will say, one of the plot holes I didn't like in this special was when Adrien talked about how the wish comes with a cost. Chronologically, this special would take place within after destruction and within multiplication, but Adrien didn't even really know that the wish would come with a consequence until Passion.
I'm pretty sure that he already knew beforehand. Ladybug told him... offscreen...

Agreed. As much as I loved the first half of the special...the final confrontation and resolution, despite how well directed, animated, and acted it was...fell apart in terms of writing. The alternate universe counterparts are DYING. This is not something a pep talk can fix. If anything, hearing that talk should have made the characters angrier and more resistant to the heroes. How dare they with their cushy life judge the villains?
This episode could’ve been PEAK if it occurred after Monarch’s defeat and if this was how Adrien found out that Gabriel was Monarch. I can just imagine him slowly putting the pieces together that Claw Noir is also Adrien Agreste and then realizing at the end that Betterfly is that universe’s Gabriel, meaning that Monarch was likely Gabriel too.
Could’ve been an epic way to start Season 6 and to address the issues with the Season 5 Finale. Adrien would learn the truth about his father and it would make Betterfly’s departure all that much more bitter, as it would be the last time Adrien would see his dad and yet it wouldn’t be his dad, but a better version of his dad.

Shadybugs design is so much more appealing than Ladybugs original design,I can't believe they downgraded Shadybugs Design when it literally was her Personality and who she was to present as the opposite,I kinda feel like since Shadybug is the opposite to ladybug it would have been more cooler when Shadybug has wings that would have been a perfect final touch in my opinion and would be the opposite to Ladybug's yoyo

I believe I can help clarify but this would be in my own opinion so take that as you will
1) in all technicality yes he could and I really dont like how they just dismissed on "oh he won't"- to make it make more sense I just like to believe that Monarch either didnt know it was the same ladybug attacking him in eachworld or both he and ladybiquity were in there much longer than showed.....in that way you can see him giving up so easily is due to the fact he is just traumatized at being beaten so many times and just exhausted
2) that one can't really help cause I'm not even sure.....Plot convince ?
3) from my understanding the supreme univerese ( Shadybug and Claw Noir universe) isn't a reversed dimension but rather a dimension were certain things didn't happen and others did( I.e..... Where someone else used the miraculous to become a dictator and or Gabriel using the butterfly miraculous to become a hero rather than a villain
4) as Tikki mentioned, she has simultaneously lived in many alternate realities, so in thechnicality this can be said for the other Kwami's....with that information the miraculous of each world is essentially linked....being different Jewellery but the same Kwami. That could be the reason Betterfly/ Monarch could undo what the other did....because there sharing the same power
5)now this is speculation but from what we heard due to the Supremes reign, the supreme Universe (Shadybug universe) isn't as friendly as ours...so it coulde be that Alternate Marinette parents are somewhat cruel to there daughter
6) Ubiquity has acess to every singles Parellel dimension out there....and from understanding she is the only one...so I would suspect she was able to sense someone else traversing the multi-verse while she still had her power
7) as said in 6, if ubiquity had the ability to sense when someone is traversing the Multi-Verse, when ladybug got her abilities and became Ladybiquity she also possesed this ability, so she was able to sense where the disruption was and where its going
8)ok this one is a little tricky but here is my understanding. The Miraculous not only grants a person the special ability but also grants them enhanced agility, strength, speed aswell as some aspects that link with the animal the miraculous represents(I.e Chat noir Night vision) as Well as a protective suit that renders the weilder somewhat impervious to certain harms......we've onlt seen a person get Cataclysmed two times from my memory.....Chat noir in the episode Miraculer and Monarch in the episode destruction....with both these scenarios the cataclysm worked slowly on individiuals body but still caused them pain...., I like to believe the Cat miraculouse's suit gives them a higher tolerance to the Cataclysm......not full on protection but enough so the effect are minimal or work much slower than another miraculous wielder...maube even working faster if the person who is cataclysm is just a regular Civilian
9)that I believe in all honesty to be either some sort dramatic effect (since the only times we see Chat Noir Akumatised he cause the end of the world....Ep. Chat Blanc) or it could be that...that is just how quick an Akumatization/ Kamikotization works.....though I highly doubt it considering other episodes but it still is a possibility
10) as said in 9 either dramatic effect for tension or that is exactly how quick the process is, also Betterfly is still the wielder of the Butterfly miraculous/ The Miraculosu of Transmission.....when he Kamikotized Chat noir....he established a connection so he ws able to talk to him in his mind and ask for consent before Kamikotising him
Anyway those are my speculations and opinions that somewhat makes sense...atleast to me and hopefully they help clarify things and make everything makes sense for you......again its just opinion so if you think something different that is quit alright and dont be afraid to voice it in a respectful way obviously

about the cataclysm - chat noir was once cataclysmed by miraculer, and although it had a severe effect (likely because she was an akumatised villain) it didnt kill him. ig claw noir had that kind of protection as cat holder
2 - we see them talking to max, so maybe he has some sort of tech, or had an enhanced markov by a kamiko, which was how they were found

Ladybiquity connects herself to every mind in every universe so if Monarch shows up to a universe she'll know.
Chloe is a bully because Thomas hates but let me put that aside the reason why Chloe is still a bully is that everything in shadybug and clawnoir's universe is not the complete opposite only a few things are different but a lot are the same.
Claw noir possible got an upgrade where he can withstand his own cataclysm someone might've thought him how to do it.
He could but knowing miraculous that would be too easy.
The reason is because the butterfly miraculouses has the same powers it doesn't matter who made the akuma/Kamiko as long as you have to same powers as the butterfly miraculous you can control that the butterfly.
Everything didn't stop its just a way they show of what's going on.
On the same topic as that 1st question, I wish to build up on that a wee bit…
Why didn’t Gabriel just use more Miraculouses? He literally just did the same thing every single god damn time (also, don’t answer this with he can’t use so many at the same time, he used like 6 or 7 in the special and it did nothing)
Why didn’t Gabriel just snap Ladybug’s Akuma or whatever power away?
How does Ladybug constantly appear before Monarch in that sequence? She can at best appear at the same time but she can only know which universe he’s going to after he’s opened the portal
Also, they constantly punch and kick him into the portal but in that Scarabella universe, he didn’t have his back facing the portal so their punch should’ve made him hit the roof
I am supremely confused about that last universe… they apparently switched Miraculouses? If you’re going to say that they take the place of that universe’s them then I will simply retort that it wouldn’t be the case for the Scarabella universe because neither Adrien or Marinette would have their Miraculous.
And now: some other questions
If the safety feature is to protect young people from the physical damage of using the powers too many times, then why does growing up mentally bypass the safety feature?
Also, if this is true, Luka and ESPECIALLY Adrien are dead from Snake Overdose
If Ladybug akumatised Good Gabriel, shouldn’t she know that it was Gabriel? Wouldn’t the whole glowing mask thing happen and she would know who he was? Now, I’m not saying she would immediately suspect her universe’s Gabriel to be the butterfly holder as well but it definitely should raise a few red flags.
If Tikki and Plagg exist in every universe at the same time, then why can’t they tell their holders who Monarch is? I mean, yes it may be different from this universe but considering the infinite amount of universes, there must be at least one which is nearly identical but they simply unmasked Monarch/Shadow Moth/Hawk Moth sooner.
Claw Noir knows using the power too many times is killing him but he decides to cataclysm the changing room doors instead of just kicking them down

Ladybug and Chat Noir can kick Monarch’s butt by just kicking and punching him in that universe travelling sequence but suddenly Shadybug and Claw Noir don’t even try just cause their powers don’t work, I get that it’s still a big thing but they can still wreck him.
Shady bug’s Lucky Charm sword bounces off Monarch (with the Ox) but in Revolution, lucky charms are disintegrated by the Ox power
Also, I think Marinette is totally dead considering the amount of times she used her powers in the finale, and you can’t use growing up as an excuse because as the first question in this section highlights, if the safety feature is to protect against physical damage, then mentally growing up isn’t gonna do squat
How can Monarch use so many Miraculouses at once? This takes place on THE SAME DAY as Evolution yet he can easily tank using 6 or 7 Miraculouses at once when it hurt him bad in Evolution.
This is a minor thing, but it’s just so funny to me how Betterfly chucks the Kamiko or whatever at Ladybug near the end, it’s just funny cus it’s so over dramatic and unnecessary
Speaking of unnecessary, why does he spend a good minute talking to Alya through the Butterfly communication thing when Shady bug and Claw Noir are right on their tail! Cus the bs and just go! You don’t have time!
This one might be explainable but how did Chat Noir get to that first Eiffel Tower battle? There’s literally no one around and Ladybug didn’t seem to text him and even if she did, Adrien wouldn’t know until he’s transformed and honestly, after such a day, I would just sleep
Shadybug notices the Akuma come out of the portal and yet after it’s cataclysmed, she doesn’t think for just a second about how IT CAME OUT OF A GOD DAMN PORTAL. Is that not concerning? That your greatest enemy can now open portals?
Ladybug and Chat Noir just deflect a rocket (in the Eiffel Tower fight) when that’s not how rockets work
Gabriel doesn’t think to use Second Chance in that final battle
What are the limits to what Shady bug can create? She doesn’t seem to be able to create anything magical but those Lucky Charm things were created by our Ladybug so… could Shady bug create magical items? Also, he could still create some pretty gnarly stuff like… Napalm, some Uranium? Maybe a jet pack? Then she could’ve chased after Angel Chat or whatever. Can she make futuristic tech? I mean, our Ladybug created a laser gun in one episode (forgot which one, correct me if I’m wrong) so what are the limits here? Could she create some kind of futuristic weapon? Could she create a lightsaber?
Also, the rooster is used in this episode and so, it is customary for me to just mention how utterly broken it is, ahem. Give yourself telekinesis, omnipresence, omniscience, mind control via looking at someone, the ability to freeze time, the ability to boost powers (then boost the Rooster’s power to gain infinite powers), future sight, the ability to track down nearby Miraculouses, the ability to be undetectable via sense (all 5) and many more! So this was a long comment but hopefully this answers some of my problems and questions on this special
