      Dorset Dave to be fair just because you haven’t had an accident doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a safe driver. You may have caused accidents through your driving but not been directly involved in it, people may also have been in accidents that were entirely another drivers fault. You also may have had a lot of near misses but have been very lucky. Not saying any of this applies to you, just making a point.

    • @gravemind6536
      @gravemind6536 Před 2 lety +7

      @@FirstLast-pk2of You both make valid points and the only way you learn is through experience. Near misses make you a bad driver at the time but a better driver going forward. You spin out on black ice but don't cause an accident you learn to respect icy conditions more. You witness a rear end collision from someone tailgating and it emphasies to you the importance of keeping good distance. You can as you pointed out be the best driver in the world and some idiot just crashes into you and thats just terrible luck. This is all stuff you won't learn at least not properly when learning to pass the driving test which is essentially a box ticking exercise. As someone who drove with a black box for their first year driving I can say it really teaches you speed awareness better than any course or deterents like cameras etc.

It being illegal doesn't mean very much to a lot of people, just like having an up to date MOT and insurance. It's only a problem if they get caught, and that they haven't yet tells them that it's ok to continue. The courts allow some drivers to continue driving legally even with tens of points on their licences for example, which is effectively the same as having no licence, so the law is already pretty open to interpretation unfortunately.

It’s just more worrying than a regular learner as he shows experience, and even says he has experience (4/5 years) of driving this poorly, even if he does become test ready for his exam and passes, there’s no doubt in my mind he won’t go back to driving the same way in the video, changing lanes last minute and cutting people off.

    The driving in the UK vs the US is different. Not talking about just the sides you drive on. One example no one signals on a round about. Loving the videos. Im learning how to drive a clutch amd theyre helping

    I passed my practical driving test yesterday in the first attempt with 3 minor faults. Although I have been driving for over 8 years now in India and the UK, these mock tests from DGN helped me greatly to understand common mistakes which even experienced drivers take for granted. I owe my success to DGN driving’s videos as much as the guidance of my driving instructor. Thank you and keep up the good work !

    I failed my first driving test for my position, stayed in the right hand land after a roundabout rather than moving over to the left. My second test I past with 4 minors. Only been driving like 2 weeks but these videos are really interesting to me

    In Germany we use signal when we're leaving the roundabout. We may use, I use the signal before entering the roundabout only if I turn on the first exit

    As a driving instructor from the Netherlands its fun to see the similarities and the differences between countries and getting your license.

    Really helpful for a learner driver like myself to see his faults and learn from them 👍

  • @Ep1cure

    Pause at 19:12. The sign to the left has something that can be quite easy to miss. The first left turn is like a little stub, so it's understandable he might have overlooked it and got confused when Pin said, "Left, second exit" just a few seconds before that point. Sometimes those stub sized turns on the sign can be quite easy to miss when actually on the roundabout, as in many cases they can be small gated utility roads. With all the other things you need to focus on, it doesn't make things any easier. Roundabouts aren't always easy, but the most important 2 things are not to rush, and NEVER make sudden moves, even if you have to go the wrong way. If you stay right, you can always go round again. Not ideal, but on an unfamiliar roundabout, better than other potential errors. If the roundabout is familiar to you, remember others may struggle a bit, so be understanding towards others by giving some space. Who knows, they may return the courtesy when you're on a tricky one you don't know too well.
