What really struck out for me was even though they are living in such poor conditions everyone looked well dressed and turned out and seemed to just embrace day to day life. Bless them all

I served my mission there as a Mormon Missionary (LDS). I learned the culture, learned the language, spoke fluently and love the people. I was in the slums everyday of the week talking to people and just experiencing life with them. They're just amazing, happy people with lots of love to give. I'll never forget their love and kindness, an unforgettable experience. Mahal ko kayong lahat!

I had the honor of visiting the Phillipines in the '90's and had such an amazing experience. As an American, we were warned about the threat of being kidnapped or killed because of the Muslims in the north but, I had an uneventful visit and remained safe. It was AMAZING! The people were the best and the country was gorgeous.
yeah this like just a tiny part of the philippines… but sometimes people have to see the reality not just all the wonders of nature of the PH that we always see on mainstream media.. i feel sad for those people… its just the lack of luck and opportunity that led them to live in that condition… i cant even imagine myself living like that… damn…

The people that live in these conditions are very happy, they know no different, when you are born and brought up in an area like this, it’s all you’ve ever known, and you can be very happy. As a person you can move to a western style of live and be just as happy, but you can never go back to your old way of life and be happy. Once you’ve experienced all the luxury of the modern western way of living, your spoilt for life!!

But even if most Filipinos are poor..
But still, in other side,
We are so very friendly and have a good positive attitude..

From everything I have seen so far, everyone is kind and polite! I can't say the same about here in America anymore, I live in a small town so it's not bad here but I grew up in Boston Mass and the big cities here are horrible! Perhaps one day I will visit ✈
Drugs problems is very severe in the Philippines and many of these slums are hot bed for crimes as these people don't care about moral anymore.
I have been to Myanmar and work there for 3 years this is even worse than some places in Myanmar.

The government should be doing something to alleviate poverty and improve living conditions, Filipinos must stop voting corrupt officials. Filipinos resilience and endurance are both blessings and curses at the same time, we tolerate massive incompetence as well being optimistic in the things to come even in the dreaded situation.
