something is really bizarre here. Don't tell me that a tree right next to a house that burnt with that kind of heat to reduce everything to ash would not have it's leaves singed off. I burned a brush pile away from my pines and just the heat of the fire, not even flames turned them all brown on that side. Flames shoot up high from a burning house. It's like they all burned from the inside out!

k For what can you please the firefighters? What did they do when thousands of houses burned in hellfire and firefighters and did not try to extinguish! Maybe they did not have water? Only the bad work of firefighters and the criminal disorganization of the district authorities led to such a terrible tragedy! When everything burned, you can only complain about heaven!

Kathy Brinkman look how black many trees are. The houses are like e kindling, with kiln dried lumber. Having heated my home for decades with firewood only, I can atest to the fact that living green wood does not burn. Dried brush does. Some green conifers will burn partially, but not as hot as dry wood.

Marilyn I heated with wood for 10 yrs also. That's a small controlled fire in a woodstove, it's not a raging inferno right next to trees whose leaves did not even turn brown.

Those trees have evolved for millions of years to be fire resistant their sap is the key it is not flammable but when you cut down a tree a tree loses its sap btw don't build a home out of wood I live in the florida keys and my home was destroyed because it was made of wood our next home is going to be a concrete fortress but it is not that fun rebuilding

This video is very good quality. Many trees survived because the trees stored the water from 50+ inches of rainfall we received last year. Wet wood doesn't burn. On the other hand, the homes were dry wood. And if you had a shake roof, it was set alight. Fire is a monster. It's almost like a living thing.

Before they rebuild maybe California should tweek the building codes.... like any area designated a fire zone has to build with concrete and fire proof materials. I know it sounds simplistic but Ive never seen destruction on this level. Just horrible.

many california native trees are fire adaptive and resist very high temperatures through 3.5 billion years of evolutionary time and those houses, like my own, was made by some two bit 40 year
old white contractor who uses the standard cheap market synthetic material that is functionally crap.

If you look at the patterns of wildfires, most trees do not 'burn to the ground'. What burns in these types of fires are the grasses, shrubs and 'tree litter'. The trees might be scorched and in some cases yes they will totally burn, but the majority of them will just be scorched and within a few months start to show signs of new growth. The reason the wood we use in construction burns so well is that it is not 'living' anymore and is dried out.

I looked in comments to see if there was a mention of getting a waiver or clearance but didn't see it. I'm not going to risk my 107 license unless I have all the checked every NOTAM and restriction and called every official I can find before flying a scene like that. Heck, just flying regular, non-disaster flights is tough with helos and fixed wing pilots buzzing around below 400 feet and appearing out of nowhere. I can't imagine the problems getting cleared to fly during something like those fires.

Living trees full of sap will not readily ignite, especially hard wood . try starting a fire with green hard wood, you will understand.

There were 50 MPH+ winds that night from Napa to Santa Rosa. There was also a lot of overgrowth of bushes from the rains. People were sleeping when the fire started. The fire department/authorities were more interested in saving lives because the fire was spreading so quickly. This is my hometown. My friends were running for their lives out of the homes. There was no conspiracy and the FD did what they had to do for minimal loss of life. Considering the size of the fire and how many homes were lost, the amount of lives taken was low. It's horrible to lose anyone, but it could have been a lot more had they focused on one building.

Houses don't burn and everything in the house along with it right down to the ground. And there's an awful lot of cars in what used to be garages and in driveways. I don't believe they got out. This is a criminal act. All you have to do is look at all the evidence. Many houses did implode because pulses of electricity were surged through wires to the smart meters and then all of the wiring in the walls went up in extreme flames. You don't see refrigerators, washers, dryers, kitchen stoves, toilets and much more. Not normal. There are different causes for fires like this. Here is why: america2050.org

  • @wildplaces9675

There was nothing sinister about this fire. It very likely started from a downed power line in Calistoga along Tubbs Lane. High winds drove the fire westward at an alarming pace. Many of the tree species native to this area are well-adapted to fire, some even requiring fires to reproduce. The unnatural setting of a suburban neighborhood provided far more fuel than is typical in chaparral wildlands. So some trees got burned, others survived. There is nothing at all unusual in that. What would be unusual is for all trees, and all homes to be burned down equally. This was not the case in Coffey Park. No conspiracy. No directed weapons. This is not a video game or a fantasy. Look up Occam's Razor. Think scientifically. Follow the science. And some of you commenters really need to be taking your meds. Just sayin'.
