- We returned to the farm from last weeks episode where Mark dug his first GOLD COIN. Unfortunately Nighthawkers have been hunted it too. So we wanted to hit it hard. Last time we found open holes and trash left behind. All of these things go against everything we preach and practice. Luckily they missed some great coins and relics. Including a GOLD COIN!! If you're going to enjoy the hobby of metal detecting, DO IT THE CORRECT WAY!! Always obtain permission from the land owner, take trash out with you, and leave no trace behind. You're going to ruin it for everyone. This is a beautiful and historic property. It deserves respect.

So glad I stumbled across your channel. I've been watching for over a year now and talked the wife into getting me a metal detector for xmas. So far I have found a 1893 Indian and a 1957 Roosevelt. Needless to say I'm addicted!!

The best places to hunt are historic sites, homesteds, ghost towns, old forts and barricades and beaches....
Most of the historic sites where I live are extremely off limits to detectorist. I have been able to get a few permissions around old churches and homesteads, unfortunately the closest beach to me is about a 10hr drive. Thanks for the info though 👍🏼

My husband uses his Garrett hunting in the woods and fields but uses the Nox around the rivers and beaches in Charleston. Mineralized soil plays rough on the Garrett AT .
High Minerals are rough on any and all vlf machines. Definitely helps to know the machine and how it reacts to different targets in high minerals. Pulse works best in high minerals. Multi frequency helps slightly over single frequency. All the best!

My buddy found a 3 cent Nickel with his Nox 800, said it came in at a 5, so guess he wasn't kidding 😉 lolz, I have found a couple of trimes, no Nickel yet so still on my bucket list 😁 Very nice hunt, looks like a fun day hunting, stay safe and happy hunting 😀

I dug a 3 cent nickel a couple years ago. Yep 43 on AT Pro. I wouldn’t have dug it but I dug a 2 cent coming a few feet away. Glad I did.

The AT MAX is not as good as the equinox except for the sound. The equinox sound is modulated. I own both and I will say the AT MAX sucks in target separation, especially in iron.
I owned a Max for a short time. The Equinox destroys the Max finding deep silver in iron. No comparison

My Apex shows up today, I went and got a shovel yesterday at Tractor Supply and the ground is not hard here in central illinois. Plus it's going to be 45 degrees today, I'm stoked. I wont be finding the stuff like you guys, but I'm right on a fur trade route and tons of native Indian history.

That's a comment from someone that doesn't dig in iron. Some big name detectors suck in iron. Can't dig what you can't hear, no matter how good you know your machine.

Got some neat stuff anyway and some silver, so good hunt. I am beginning to wonder after reading Bill Dancy's book, if these wiped coppers are counterfeits made of inferior alloys less resistant to farm chemicals. He says you can weigh them and the lighter ones are fake. Thanks!
