    The 2006 is a personal favorite of mine. Its old blockiness just screams LEGO Star Wars the most to me.
    Look wise, the 2024 one is probably the cleanest looking one by far. Also thanks for putting it alongside the others. It actually doesn't seem that much smaller than the 2014 version by comparison, surprisingly.

      @veteran-128 The details are poor, but understandable during 2006.

    People seem enamored with the 2024 and its only real advantage is better greebling, handle incorporation and better engine placement over the 2014 model. Otherwise it’s just outright disproportional to the source more than it should while being smaller to boot. In particular the main body is far too small to the bridge tower which is huge. This set feels more like a Rebels design where all the ships are oddly warped in their proportions. I’d get one, download instructions for 2014 version and get the extra parts and build that.

    • @Txm_Dxr_Bxss
      @Txm_Dxr_Bxss Před 5 dny +1

      This. I have the 2019 UCS Star Destroyer here (not built with original Lego bricks) and the proportions are totally different. Judging from movie stills the UCS one is far closer (surprise). The 2024 one would need to be 2cm wider and 3cm longer.

  • @marknotestine424

    For the 2024 interior I agree the bridge is smaller than is desirable and the 2014 is better there. For the rear internal section even though it is smaller I think the aesthetics and the details in the 2024 version are nicer that the other two. I think the 2024 has the best exterior look too. The upper bridge on the 2006 is a really nice play feature even if it does not look as good externally.

  • @FlamboyanToPossuM
    @FlamboyanToPossuM Před 8 dny +5

    I was never interested in these until the 2024 one. They never really looked too good IMO. This new, however, has a good balance of accuracy and play features that appeals to kids and adults and that really does it for me. I think the smaller size works in its favor, it makes it look more proportional which I greatly favor over size.

    • @fractalelf7760
      @fractalelf7760 Před 7 dny +3

      It’s the most disproportionate model though…. It’s equally to short and narrow compared to the bridge section…

  • @Txm_Dxr_Bxss
    @Txm_Dxr_Bxss Před 5 dny +1

    The short size really ruins it the 2024 one for me. The proportions seem very off, it would need to be a few cm longer and wider for the bridge to not look out of place. That would also greatly help with interior size.

    7:37 The engines on the other 2 ISD's spin as well. Pretty weird detail to mention instead of the fact that the 2024 model's engines don't stick out of the ship, which is movie accurate.
    7:49 The 2014 model didn't have any functionality on the bridge either. It was only the 2006 model. Pretty weird thing to say again.
    8:43 The 2006 model didn't have a lift arm. The 2014 model barely even attempted to hide it's lift arm, which is more cumbersome to use and leaves a gap in the front. It's only the 2024 model that seamlessly integrates the lift arm without affecting the design. Again, pretty weird thing to say.
    9:55 There's only one officer minifig in this set. So why didn't you sit him on the other side to be in front of a computer?
    10:15 Moff Gideon's cruiser has a wildly different shape than the ISD which just allows for more space. What a weird comparison. Like apples to oranges.
    10:31 "The same ship"? You sure about that?
    12:13 You spent almost twice as much time on the 2024 model as the other 2 models, so how is it possible that you say "that's all there is to say about it"?
    13:37 It seems like "the nostalgia" points are leading the majority of reviewers to biased conclusions against the 2024 model. Despite it being better in almost every way there is, everyone will trash it in plain sight because it doesn't fill their eyes as much as the old models did. And that's pretty sad.

    • @coreywilliams8993
      @coreywilliams8993 Před 6 dny

      I had issues with some of your criticisms so here:
      8:43 “seamlessly integrates the handle without affecting the design”… minus the giant flaps now on the top when you use the handle? How is that in any way better than an at MOST 2x4 hole that is filled by the handle when not in use, and doesn’t break up the classic lines nearly as bad as when it IS in use. Pretty weird thing to say.
      9:55 Not including extra figures doesn’t excuse poor design. All they had to do was make the chairs swivel and it wouldn’t be nearly as noticeable.
      12:13 I would say it’s pretty easy to say when about half the time covering the 2024 was either directly comparing it to the previous models or time spent going into finer detail that doesn’t necessarily add to the quality of the build(i.e. the contents of the containers and screens) If it was just a review of the ship and its features it would be just as short if not shorter than the other 2.
      13:37 Honestly it feels like you’re biased in favor of the new one. You said it’s “better in almost every way” but all I can think of is detail, the 2006 has it on size, value, and number of minifigures, and the 2014 is bigger and has pretty much the same play features. Also the 2024 LOSES detail around the engines with the 4 smaller thrusters now just being… wheels?

    • @nomic655
      @nomic655 Před 6 dny +1

      @@coreywilliams8993
      8:43 The flaps are not "giant". If anything, they are small and hide a much better and more ergonomic handle than the 2014 model. Also, when talking about the hole in the 2014 model, I was talking about how it has to be extremely big for the technic piece to slide in and out, and it leaves a gap on top. The 2024 model is hands down better in that aspect, both in terms of displayability and of playability. Not something to discuss.
      9:55 Poor design? You must be talking about the 2014 model.
      12:13 Finer detail very much adds to the quality of the build and is the direction Lego is going towards. If scale is all you care about, why not just get the 2006 model? More than half of the time given to the 2024 model was about how it's small and cramped and worse than the 2014 model, instead of actually talking about it's upsides: design, details and accuracy.
      13:37 The smaller thrusters are more accurate to a real ISD, plus they were always wheel pieces ever since the 2006 model, so that's not an argument. Also, no, mentioning the bias towards the 2014 model does not make me biased towards the 2024 one. Weird thing to say.

    I plan to mod the new one into a Victory-class so it looks closer to scale with my 2014 one on display.
    I just can't get behind the 2006 one. The white & bright neon break up the design too much, and that Technic brick under the bridge needs to be covered up. It just feels incomplete.

    The 2006 version is one of the first LEGO Star Wars sets I owned, and my first one to exceed 1,000 pieces and come with more than one instruction manual! I remember the first time I finished building it, I flew it around my house, humming the notes that played in the opening scene of A New Hope when the Star Destroyer flies overhead!
    BTW, the turntable in front of the Palpatine hologram is for the Darth Vader minifigure to kneel on while speaking to his master (and yes, it's missing a clear 1x1 plate for one of Vader's legs to attach to). And the sliding panels at the rear are supposed to reveal blasters attached to clips. And the black cheese slopes on either side of the superstructure are meant to hold green lightsaber blades that can be fired by flicking the gray Technic axles (Lego's first attempt at flick-fire missiles, although they were hard to fire consistently).
