Thanks very much for this - always among my very favorite Buddy Holly songs, in part because the lyric seems a bit out of keeping with his squeaky-clean image.
Nice! One question: I would play that D9 with my middle finger getting the F# bass, since that way all three fingers are in position to fall into the E just by moving towards each other. Any reason to think he was using a thumb?
He most def would be using his thumb since everyone used their thumbs back then. It's kind of a lost art to be honest, but thumbs are awesome! Merle Travis always used his thumb f.ex. since he thought the straight bar chord limits his movement on the neck (which *is* true tbh)
Yes Sir... It was Sonny Curtis on guitar!
All this time I thought it was Grady Martin on lead, but he was playing rhythm.
Was it Grady playing lead on Ollie vee or was it sonny?
Seems to be some confusion.
@@leeetchells609 According to "The Buddy Holly Story," by John Goldrosen, Sonny wrote and played lead on Ollie Vee.
Love it!
Been trying to learn this for ages but can never find the proper “technique”

@@PeterKeaneMusic I have the same model Strat. It’s the best Stratocaster I’ve ever played.
Now you are a real guitarist subscribed , that was awesome my god you can play and sing 👍🇦🇺 Thank You
Lot of mouth noises but you did not show the fingering when you go up to the 10th fret and do that two chord thing
sure thing John - gald you liked it!
Could you tab this out
To much talking
thanks John - much appreciated!
@@PeterKeaneMusic , you don't really show how those cords are fingered the D up by the 10th fret
