Assalamu'alaikum. Would appreciate if anybody who knows the title of the books and author the Sheikh recommended to list it down please. I cannot catch it even after rewinding the interview a few times. Jazakhallahu Khairan.

I think to quote Hamza Yusuf- there is no set way of wearing the hijab. The variations in head dress vary from culture to culture, from city to city, from tribe to tribe. However, in terms of requirements of hijab then I am not sure precisely and you ought to consult someone learned, however I would say that hijab is not just for covering the head, but a continuous state of modesty, for both women and men..

Is this the sister that was a L'Oreal hijab model that stopped wearing her hijab? Ironically after her contract from L'Oreal had been terminated for other reasons and stopped being marketable (to them)......

While I do respect him, on this topic, his conclusions are forced, to say the least.
When one holds to a position, reading a meaning into something is eisegegis.
Therefore, I disagree totally with his conclusions; and so do some modest Muslim women.

I do not find myself agreeing with him. He is like many other scholars, he is full of dogma and history and thinks this important. Could be misleading... I think that any kind of fear is undesirable. One should not fear anything unless it is a threat. Is God a threat? How can he cause fear and love at the same time? this is a paradox, and not acceptable. What about the best books, the ones by Idries Shah?
Surely sharia is very out of date today!

Shariah may have problems , but modesty is needed and we should not swept by the present environment , Muslims have made the same mistake before eg being influenced by surrounding environment

Same way there is infinity .God is beyond anything that human brain can imagine .he can love u and cause u fear is very same ..when parents love u and when u disobey u fear them ....there is no rocket science here

Idris shah is an orientalist, he is not an authority on Islam, Shayikh Abdul Hakim Murad, is one of the greatest Islamic scholars of this century and certainly, he is a once in a blue moon individual, he not like others to put it lightly. The existence of Fear and Love, is not a paradox, both are necessary, you may act according to what motives you, not everyone has the same temperament and everyone is driven accordingly. Sharia is not a Procrustes bed, its not a one size fits all, it evolves and is suitable to every time and place, hence why this is a religion of all time.
