I promised myself no new bikes this year, and I am officially breaking that promise. I NEED the Racer1, it seems perfect on paper. Knowing they are working on a Battery extension was the icing on the cake. @Ride1up appears to have nailed it with the Racer1 at this price point.

Bummer on the tubeless, but good to see you’ll still be rocking the 50mm. It was worth a shot
Love the new Smith helmet, got me thinking about a new mountain bike helmet!
So much going on in this video! The wall racks from steady rack are fire. What a good storage solution!

Watched the other one where you converted earlier. So glad I checked this one out as well. Thanks for blazing the trail!

Bummer that didn't work, Mine comes today and that was in the plan. You say get new rims but how difficult is that going to be using the rear hub with the motor? How does one go about having them built using the motorized hub (for those of us that have never done custom rims)?

Yeah I am bummed too. So you could just do a full wheel replacement up front but in the back you need to get a rim and new spokes and have it laced up. This can be tricky because you need to know the exact spoke length. Once you have these items you can start the wheel building process. If you haven't done it before then it would be best to get a local bike shop to do this for you. Normal wheel building costs around $50-$100 but could be more. My suggestion is to find a set of wheels you like. If they are great price just use the front wheel. Then have your bike shop take the back wheel apart and make new spokes for your back wheel. You can then sell the rear hub that came with it. Or you can just buy rims and spokes and have two wheels built up with the current front hub and back hub motor.

strip the fenders off the prodigy and get some tires on it, I want to know if the mid drive is worth $1000 more than a lmt'd which is just as trail worthy.

I am actually going to convert the Prodigy V2 to an XC mtb soon.

These steady racks have got me thinking for sure.

How much tire clearance does the frame have? Could you go wider than 50mm?

    • @RunBikeMike
      @RunBikeMike  Před 3 měsíci

maybe but it would be very close if you got any mud on your tire.

Is it possible to switch the handlebars?

So why do you think this failed? Is it the rims not being compatible. After getting a flat last week on the rear tire (commuting to work) I really need to figure out a way to make this work. Tube removal on that rear tire is a NIGHTMARE especially when I’m trying to get someplace on time.

I think it is the rims. One option is to have a wheel builder lace up a tubeless rim.

Maybe something like Vittoris Air-Liners or Cushcore might help the tire stay in place.

@Butchered-Zombie-Fetus that is a great thought. That might help it out.

Going to try it with the liners, do the rim strips need to be replaced or are the ones on the bike sufficient? I know the valve needs replacing.

@tomribaudo6040 you will need tubeless tape. Let me know how it goes.
