These Havelis are old, like the one going back to the Moghal era. But I think many of these Havelis were built on sites where much older houses stood, because the city of Lahore would be thousands years old.
Yes Lahore is old but not as city but as unknown small town to outer world. So it is true that Lahore's history dates back to its origins as a small town like many other towns in the region till date exist. But "the Lahore", it underwent a significant transformation when the Mughals constructed a protective wall and the Lahore Fort. This marked the beginning of Lahore's evolution from a town to a city. We must acknowledge the Mughals' role in establishing Lahore as a city. Similarly, a similar story can be observed in Delhi when the Mughals shifted their capital from Agra and ordered the construction of the city of Delhi, which previously did not exist on that particular piece of land. Many people moved there as builders to bring the city of Delhi to life on the Mughals' orders. 🙋♂️ and then after the decline of the Mughal Empire, the Northern subcontinent, including Punjab and what is now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), came under Durrani empire and then for sometime under the Raj of Ranjit Singh but the significant change once again is being noted that is during the period of British India. During this time, Lahore underwent a transformation once again, with the British creating a new structured city in the outskirts of the old Lahore, commonly referred to as "gated Lahore." This new development included the addition of Lahore Cantonment, Lawrence Gardens, Mall Road, Railway stations, Schools, Colleges and various other modern structures that were significant back in those days.
The city of Lahore owes much of its popularity and growth to both the Mughals and the later British Empire. Throughout history, the locals have admired the changes and developments that were made possible by these so-called non-locals, as their influence contributed to shaping Lahore into the vibrant city it is today. during the era of British India, a similar transformation took place in the city of Delhi. The British established a new city in the outskirts of old Delhi, which is now known as "New Delhi." This new city was carefully planned and designed by the British architect Edwin Lutyens and was intended to serve as the new capital of British India.
Construction of New Delhi began in 1911 and was completed in 1931, officially inaugurating the new capital. It was designed to showcase British imperial grandeur and boasted wide avenues, spacious parks, and impressive government buildings, including the Rashtrapati Bhavan (formerly the Viceroy's House) and the India Gate.
The establishment of New Delhi as the capital of British India further exemplified the significant influence and impact the British Empire had on shaping the urban landscape and historical development of India during their rule. Today, both Lahore and Delhi stand as testament to the fascinating blend of history, architectural marvels, and cultural heritage that reflects the diverse chapters of their past.

I’ve read a lot about these place specially in Mustansar Hussain Tarar’s writings… but you gave literally a fantastic view to his words… i myself was a resident of mohala dara shikoh near landa bazar but moved toward the society area of lahore due to messy type of hustle bustle of that area… though i’m not living there but those places are still living in me…. I have visited androon lahore many time but was unaware of these gems of lahore you explored in your videos… i want you to make video on sarae sultan, shaeed ganj and the guruduwara and mandir located there… once again a lot of appreciations and well wishes for you… keep wandering, keep exploring 👍🏻
