    Haha, I forgot about that incident! Thanks for the input, I totally appreciate it!

    A couple years ago there were not very many options for pre-made boards. Plus what if you are in love with your board and you want it to be a splitty. Making your own board is great in many situations.

    Thanks for the great video. I've watched it many times in the process of making my board.
    One feedback I have is that you are using Inches and Centimeters in it. would be good to stick with one measuring system not to be confusing (This is how we lost a satellite in space LoL)

    another good one john, thank you!

    It is Spar Urethane and you should be able to get it at any hardware store. And yes, it solidifies. It does not come with the kit. You want the T-Nuts to be just flush below the surface. If you have a T-Nut in front of you, it should make sense. Good luck!

    Not sure if I fully understand your question, but you want to find the pivot point and move about 1cm to the front of the board. This new point is where you want the templates 'pivot point' to line up with.

    Honestly, as long as you go slow, I don't think it matters on the size or number of teeth. Any of them will do the job. Good luck!

    Nice Man! The Malolo should be a pretty sweet ride out there. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks for the tutorial. Going to be splitting my board tomorrow. About the center point part, it needs to be measured with all the bits on not without? Just wanted to clarify this point! Thanks!

    when you find the contact point, then measure in one inch for the pivot hooks do you center the template on that mark or flush it up with that mark?

    question about the type of circular saw used- i noticed most blades are 7-1/4in, however the saw i have is a 5-1/2in. Are there any advantages to using a bigger saw blade or will any size do the job? Also, how many teeth did you blade have?

    Hello John,
    can I ask some questions?
    What do you use at 5:55? It solidifies? Is it provided with Voilé kit?
    How is deeper the working at 9:35?
    Thak you for all!
    Bye

    Im literally making one as we speak, but i dont quite understand what they mean by sand at a a 45 degree angle or where they mean? thank you if you answer

  • @jhorn929
    @jhorn929  Před 12 lety

    @TwentyBelowZero000 I would not take out the inserts. Too much work. You can fill the holes with the same epoxy you will be using on other parts of the board. These Burton boards are a little more work to deal with, but people really love to ride them.

    Thank you for the (timely) response! Just one more question to clarify- with the drill bits, is it a 9/64 bit? or a 19/64 bit?

    You want the bottom to be flush together so sand away the upper side. Make sense?

  • @jhorn929
    @jhorn929  Před 12 lety

    @TwentyBelowZero000 You just have to cut right through the metal plates. It is a pain in the butt.

    the only problem I have with this is the fact that the tools + the board + the binding kit cost as much as just buying one new... I see one for 480 new? Still appreciate the tutorial tho. I wish I was that handy... I would fuck that up if I tried it

    • @jhorn929
      @jhorn929  Před 6 lety

      Kolob Canyon When I did this, you couldn't buy a splitboard for less than 1k and there were not many options. Times have changed

    I also want to ask if I can use g flex epoxy for the inner parts after the big cut ? And if yes - Is it ok if my friend carve 1-2mm from the wooden inner part of the "splits"?(his idea is to have more g flex epoxy,so it won't worn out easy)

      I just responded to your message, but no. I wouldn't do that.

    John, can you tell me if this allows you to adapt a regular binding or do I still need a splitboard specific binding? Nice tutorial!

    • @jhorn929
      @jhorn929  Před 10 lety +1

      The kit comes with a plate to attach normal bindings to. Have fun and good luck!

    My friend recently cut his board. BUT his cut wasn't at the exact middle of the board (it's 2mm from the center), so is this board still good for Voile hardware and riding? sorry for my english!

    • @jhorn929
      @jhorn929  Před 10 lety

      The skinning might be uneven, but it should be fine for riding as long as you can get the correct hardware placement.
