Today I’m showing you some things I regret buying, and explaining what made them mistakes for my closet (and by extension, a waste of money).
I will share my top tips to avoid making mistakes when buying new items for your closet.
I will also show you two items which - much to my surprise - have been more of a success in my wardrobe than I ever expected.
Leave me a comment: have you bought anything for your closet that you particularly regret, and if so what made it a mistake?

The reason things are on sale are related to timing, rarely quality issues. Time has run out in season. I have bought many items on sale, even duplicates I have bought at regular price earlier in the season
Could you do a sneakier styling video for shorter ladies please
Ha-ha! Yes, white jeans can be problematic but they look so good! I only wear mine in the summer and usually only a handful of times. But when I wear them I love them! It’s funny that how we feel about an item changes after we’ve worn it a couple of times but it’s one of the ways we learn about our likes and dislikes.
I love my white jean! Have them in several styles. They’ve made me learn how to get out any stain😀
Thanks for the validation on the white jeans. For years I vowed to buy nothing white because they always were stained. I have dipped my toe back in the water for white shirts, but white jeans...never.
Closest I get to white is beige jeans and a pale blue or grey shirt.
I lOVE that Cos wool top, because it's see through. I would definitely wear it with a black bra! I also would buy the black one and do the same thing. Love that
Trish, I thought it was just me and white jeans. I always get something on them that is hard to get out.
About first regret, the white jeans also have another issue: they merciless show every bump one has, they really really highlight the belly or a FUPA. Horrible
Yeah, I definitely wear skintoned shapewear under white pants.
Agree with your point regarding sales! I know this will not be helpful, but I think that trench coat looks great on you! But once one is put off by something, you usually cannot go back 😢
Love your style and enjoy your videos! I don’t know if you have Oxyclean laundry detergent in the UK - I’m in US - but my tailor told me about it. It is great on removing stains. I use on vintage embroidered linens I find thrifting and are sometimes stained or yellowed with age. I sometimes have to soak overnight - but it has rescued lots of pieces without damaging them. I was thinking this might work well on your white jeans without a lot of fuss.
I used Oxy Clean on my white jeans and t-shirts and it turned all the edges orange. I will never use it again.
We have oxyclean in the UK but I believe Trish is in Ireland/Eire and not Northern Ireland and therefore is not in the UK..
Very true about white jeans, it’s inherently a disposable garment really, like white shirts and T shirts. You can do your best, but not worth splurging on. I’m happy buying cheaper ones, but make sure I recycle the fabric at the end
Yes, a black blazer that has never been worn. I was building my capsule wardrobe and blazers were on almost all lists. It does not fit my lifestyle at all.😩 I love a thin merino wool sweater, I brought one to Italy last September and used it so much. One day there was a high of 22 degrees Celsius and I thought I would be too warm, I was so comfortable that I am looking into other colours of layering pieces.
I loved your analysis! Informative, clear and objective. Thank you so much!
Love my sambas!!!
4:00 those trench coats are exactly the same length..
wanted to comment the same. the trench coat looked so good on her.
@@detlef3000 Who's she trying to kid? 😆
❤
Thank you for this video, ever since I decided to invest more in higher quality pieces I've begun to fear regrets more. Some you only realise after the return period has gone lol. But guess you can't always land 100% perfect.
Btw I'm considering a Massimo Dutti trench coat, similar to the one you have. The thing is I'm worried 100% cotton will wrinkle a lot, and I don't have a steamer. Would you still recommend one?
I do have one and I overcome the wrinkles because I like the 100% cotton
I definitely disagree with you about sale items being “ the dregs”.
I shop more expensive clothing but I wait to buy until it goes on sale. Many people do that. So the items fly when they’re marked down but not when they’re regular price.
