Floor Tom to Bass Drum Conversion - Wakazmo

You can buy a kit to convert a 16 inch floor tom into a bass drum, but it really isn't that hard to make it out of wood. The only real cost was the bass drum heads.

amazing job fabricating that. i envy your expertise. I am currently using a floor tom as my bass drum but i dont have anything to attach the pedal to the drum. any chance you could share your method of building this piece? i have the tools but im unsure of the first step to take.

All I did was raise the floor tom high enough to make sure the pedal hits the middle of the drum. You can make a cardboard template. One of the main things was cutting it so two lugs sit in the wood in the cutouts on top. Then make a curved area so the drum doesn't touch. That keeps it in place. When I cut the small hole for the leg to go through, I cut it a little away from the drum so when I tighten the leg, it pulls it toward the drum and keeps it tightly in place. The rubber feet keep it just high enough so the drum pedal slips under it. It might be a little trial and error to make it all work.

Yes! Make a cardboard template first and cut the wood to sit on the two lugs.
