Milwaukee 2504 Drill Chuck Upgrade | Brushless M12 Power Tool | How to Remove a Threaded Drill Chuck

- In this video I purchased a new Milwaukee 2504-21 M12 Fuel Brushless Hammer Drill. I show how I removed the keyless chuck and upgraded it with a keyed chuck. This uses 1/2-20 threads on the chuck. Chuck threads are regular right hand threads, while the retaining screw was left hand or reversed threads. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video. I just did the same thing with my m12. Using the impact really was the trick for this.
I saw a video last week of drilling out the head of the screw so he could still remove the chuck. He also had a complete wrecked screw inside. Then he used some visegrips i believe to loosen the end of the screw after he removed the chuck
Yep, I have the same issues. That's how I found this video. Working for a fabrication company for shipyard. I use my drill every day. Constantly having to re-tighten the chuck and most of the time not tight enough. Tha k you for sharing.
I find that the keyless chuck is Milwaukees biggest downfall. Great video, thank you.
I don't think I'll be moving over to keyed, it takes away the ease of use.
My chuck just went bad and I’m thinking of going this route
How has this held up over the years?
Do you know if that removed chuck is 9/16-18?, I mean could it be compatible with Milwaukee m18 2704 fuel? Thanks for the video
I really want to pick up a new M18 FUEL drill but their chucks are hot garbage as well. Im curious if anyone has swapped to a keyed chuck on an M18
use a rotary hammer drill with a carbide masonry bit it will take the screw straight out, just get another screw before you do
Nice I need to fix mine but my issue is that the chuck is seized closed so I can’t get to the screw. Any advice?
YES, IF YOU HIT THE OUTSIDE OF THE CHUCK WITH A HAMMER THE SHOCK WILL RELEASED THE DRILL BIT, ENABLING YOU TO GET IT OUT A REPLACE IT, JUST DONE THIS MYSELF…… GOOD LUCK
How did this work out for you?
It's been working great!
