You're correct but it's not because barrier statue prevent both players from special summoning lol. Kaiju counts as YOUR special summon, not your opponent. It counts toward 5 nib summon. Your opponent will also draw a card after maxx c if you summon a kaiju

yugioh in its current form reminds me a lot of anime fighting games, where people really enjoy the base mechanics and learning their own character, but seem to hate fighting every other character in the game because they all tend to do something cheap and seemingly unfair

There are some midrange decks, but on this event, its either make 5 negates and pass or set 5 pass
At least, no combo deck is truly uninteractive, cause you can at least use handtrap before they set up the board. Stun is just badâŠ

There are two types of yugioh players
1.Learn an entire spread set about a deck and side decks for the meta matchups
2.Nornal summon floodgate, set 4 pass

I was so excited for this event. Red Dragon Archfiend is my deck and I was really hyped to play Synchro decks. Then it was just True Draco and lockdown stuns.
Me too I built a crystron deck for the event looking to have fun, first 5 matchâs versus stun and loss coin flipâŠ.a little disappointing
I wanted to make dragunity or windwitch for this, but seeing people hate fun, I don't think it's worth it and just used loaner

@@dhanyl2725 I grinded the entire event with a pure dragunity deck (I tend to lose interest when they stop handing out rewards, need that serotonin I guess)
The deck does pretty well going second in this limited format, i will say most people seem to insta respond with any effect so itâs pretty easy to bait them out tho.
I was playing speedroids and I had a good win streak until I started fighting floodgates, control decks and anti synchro, like honestly why have an event dedicated to synchro and not ban these type of decks

Thought anime synchro decks or more variety were gonna be popping up inspiring players to make their own deck but had too much hopes. Everyone making that stardust deck and Iâm getting so bored facing them nonstop

I tried to be at least somewhat creative by making a main deck focused Myutant deck with a handful of synchros I can summon off my handtraps.
I'm just not going to craft a bunch of synchro cards I know I'll never use, and there's just too many gems being given out in the event for me to pass up on.

Aside from Solemn Johnson, gimped Timelords hard counters this meme statue deck. Was running it for the damage gems mission and they scooped as soon as I summoned Michion on turn 2.

Sadly Michion's effect doesn't count as effect damage.
The thing that was amazing is the fact he had 8 monsters in his deck. used Pot of Desires twice and still managed to draw 5 out of 8 monsters lmao
What I hate about myself is that I used to play a Generic Stun and Exodia Stun deck back in 2009 to 2010 and I thought it was GENUINELY fun.
Not surprisingly, people in my friend group during Highschool would sometimes say, "I REALLY don't feel like playing your Exodia or Stun for today, play another deck..."
There's nothing wrong with thinking a deck is fun, what matters is that the player has fun, not his opponents.

that's pretty contradictory, players are supposed to play, spectating is for spectators.
during the time i'm not letting them play, i was slowly burning my opponent or drawing out exodia at an agonizing pace.
sure, some people might have a competitive nature and find it interesting to learn different match-ups, but this was just casually during lunch and sometimes at the end of the school day.

@@joshuaxiong8377 'Not letting your opponent play' is the basic philosophy of control decks. Yet it's one of the 4 staple deck archetypes. That's because card games need a reactive strategy and in Yugioh it comes in the form of stun.
Stun doesn't react, it doesn't even let the opponent start. It's more like MtG's "Lantern Control".
Tbh I'd rather play against stun decks than watch Adamancipator players excavate cards for 20 minutes.

it really is and that's really sad honestly. Power Creep REALLY hit the game hard which is unfortunate. Like yeah I don't mind combo decks, if it was in the form of 3-4 card searches type deal. But now it's like search for 6-8 different cards, summong 20 different monsters, shuffle all resources back to deck. Rinse repeat, hell I find battling Eldlich more fun because at least their turns are short and they don't try to FTK you in one turn

The current state of yugioh is "Either get one shot and die, negate everything, have everything unkillable, or stun". And there really is no way to counter this. Hell I'd say Eldlich is the only fun deck to FIGHT against since they ya know, actually let you play for a time. I mean a stun deck is literally the same as almost every deck nowadays. Where is the more unique ones at? Burn deck like Volcanics was very interesting and didn't try to one shot you on sight, a life gain deck via nuteria was also very interesting and fun to fight against. I want decks to fight against that aren't just "Combo 30 cards, have a whole field of powerful monsters"

You guys just going through what happens in duel links for years: Players don't care about the event, only for the rewards! And will do everything for them from playing with meta decks in for fun events, or stall until you give up and concede. I wanted to see how these events would be without this special banlist...
Tbh the NR event was fun because you could make any deck you wanted for almost free, this event is the opposite of that, the best decks you can make to win on this being ftp is literally true draco and barrier statue stun
I don't see a correlation of your argument about event in DL with MD event. I've been a DL player from 2017 until the MD drops, and honestly, DL event only awards you from winning a game and since the currency is so hard to get, people can't always make a new deck for "fun" event you mentioned. So they just go with only everything they have, you can't blame them from playing an X deck that dominates the game.
I mean...what really is the event's use if not for the rewards for participating lel. Players are rewarded for winning so of course players will find a way to make decks that can help them win. Regardless of how degenerate the strat can be.
There's literally no point in forcing yourself to make an actual synchro focused deck from scratch considering the actual good synchros are such high rarity and there's not much actually good archetypes in the game for synchro focused plays besides adamancipators, synchrons, and resonators. Even if they banned all floodgates the meta will just shift into using 3 maxx c, 3 ash, to stop plays and the archetype dominating will likely be adamancipators
@@megamegasamx1014 DL already has smaller card pool, and if we add restrictions on top of that just to participating in an event, how playable your deck can be since obtaining cards is through spending gems. Yes, there are free cards, but be honest, how many among those are truly playable?

I started playing Master Duel with my Blackwing cards and got to plat, but then I ran straight into meta decks and couldn't do anything other than sit there and watch as the other player comboed on me for a few min so I got pissed off and made an anti-meta stun deck to destroy all of those bastards. No regrets.
I am mediocre player if anything but I tend to have backup plan whenever I play is negated of I have the right cards in hand.
Evenly matched is unironically really good in this event. Iâm running it in Yosenju and itâs decent at outing both combo boards and beating stun decks

I don't disagree but you absolutely can break combo deck with hand traps. When people say stun deck is cheap is really relative number, because every plat 1 stun deck list thay i see have like gajillion UR trap card that in total make the deck more expensive than meta deck.

actually if they have more statues you have more special summons options, it was kinda dumb to play all of them really. 2 is an ok number tbh for stun to have on the field

Honestly there are so many problems with the events that i cannot blame people that play that kind of decks, personally i would do the same since i hate to play synchro, i hate to play decks that their whole purpose is to negate your opponent actions, i also hate those kind of decks cause it takes them 5-10 minutes to do a turn just so you can surrender the moment you lost the coin flip or have no hand traps.
Let's not forget you cannot surrender since you wont gain any tokens.
N/R event was awesome since you could play any type of deck without breaking your wallet.

Even worse than Statue stun I think is Secret Village. Secret Village shuts down any search cards for engine AND shuts down any generic removal. It makes Duster and Lightning Storm worthless while at the same time preventing you from furthering your game state if you rely on Spells, which is fucking insane.

FTKs suck because they win before people can do anything against them.
All are terrible and need to be gutted , but FTK > Stun > Combo junk in terms of how awful the three are.

If you don't have an out to combo in your opening hand there's no reason to sit there. And if you do have an out there's at least a game sometimes.
Meanwhile with stun it's either you get mogged by a bunch of do nothing turns or go beat up an open board after nuking their backrow.
