- We see how to add and audio clip and look at the media playback toolbar.
We then add a video clip to the same slide.
In the slideshow, the media plays immediately when the media slide is opened. A work around is shown to create a picture of the beginning of the video and then adding a new slide of that picture just before the media slide to make it look like the movie is paused and waiting for you to press the next slide button to start the clip.
Very useful series of videos on Libre Impress, thanks. I have struggled with audio clips across slides in Ms PPT. But all banners in MS Office makes the program almost useless. I much prefer the simpler Libre Office, for I do not need to learn a new type of programs with features I don't use. Will have to check whether Libre Impress plays audio across slides.
2020 and still problems inserting audio and video...hangs, no play....any tip? Impossible for me...thanks
im having a hell of a time doing a presentation. You have features my libre doesn't have.
I've found that when you can't play a video or sound file in a LibreOffice Impress presentation, it needs a relevant codec. Installing the K-Lite standard codec pack got some of my videos to play. You might think it's sorted when you try to play an mp4 file, but that's just a container and the contents can have different formats. That's where the right codec comes in.
All in all there is no any lternative to PowerPoint, along with no playback controls there aren't a hell of other tiny but important features
Do you also have a video to learn about worrying about if images you use are copyrighted, etc, or if they are free to use, and how to work this out?
Generally speaking, each slide has a different amount of text than the others... so how do you control allowing enough time for each slide to 'read' before going onto the next one? If you can't adjust this, then the longer text slides will cut short with not enough time to read them aloud, for whoever the readers listeners are.
All I want to do is start and pause some audio. But it seems that this is not possible.
how to play audio in the background??
good video
OMFG why is this so hard? Import the audio file, save it, disappears. Basic broken functionality in favor of whizzy bang features. LibreOffice used to a be a functioning piece of software. It's just...broke.
You really are a genious. How to export them to TouTube ?
I don't get what the Media Player toolbar did near the beginning. What's the point of playing and controlling the video when you're building the presentation? I want a simple set of controls to be visible while the presentation is actually being shown.
so there is no solution for succession except the workaround of making copies
What kind of movie file does impress recognise/use please?
Which audio file type did you use
I used a .wav audio file.
It would be nice to know how to view all the media in the Presentation, or how to delete media. Someone has sent me a doc with an audio file in that I want to delete, but in normal mode it doesn't show up on the page. IT's only when I use slide show that it appears and begins to play music. Absolutely infuriating and needlessly obtuse and baffling. Not good!
says that mp4 is unsupported
mpg neither....hangs, no play, nothing...
in impress i can't add mp4 videos
Me, too.
@@discreteloner9573 Me too. And I'm using Impress 4.1.6
Whoops. Yes it does. The ? just shows on the thumbnail picture. When you hit play on the media toolbar it works.
Had the same issue. Install the codec pack. K-lite will be good.
I have the same problem!
There isn't even a way to choose what happens when you switch to that page on the Slide show. The music just PLAYS. This is an embarrassment of a program!
cant even import mp4 into LibreOffice.. what is this worthless junkware
and no, i dont need a codec, Win10 plays the videos fine
@@turinhorse Yep, pathetic.
Seriously, People are so focused on cramming in whatever new whiz bang feature that only .000002 of the public will actually use but they can't fix basic functionality like this. It's literally where all software seems to be headed these days which is why most of it is getting worse and not better.
