They are both wonderful!!! Great to hear a voice of that size singing Maria! And Penda, well in a league of her own! Should be a superstar in opera! I know she's known but she should be a household name! Remarkable singing actress!!!

i think there should have been more of a contrast between the voices of the two queens. they’re both somewhat similar, both very high, vibrato-laden and somewhat unwieldy. but still quite electrifying to hear them both.

Maybe Farnocchia is not in Gencer's league, but Pendatchanska definitely is.
thanks for posting, very interesting! quite a bit of non-score add-ons, but to the point. (Trascinate...) One of the most convincing confrontation scenes I heard. Pity there is no image.
Alexandra comes closest to being as exciting as Lina Bruna Rasa! An amazing voice!
gee thanx. Donizetti didnt right ANY high notes in puntatura or cadenzas but they were done anyway.
Is A.Penda the only one to sing both Donizetti's Elisabetta?

Very credible performance - but still can't hold a candle to the Gencer-Verret recording from 1967.....just sayin'

If you hear closey, Pendachantska sung the note, short, and very far away.... she must be... possibly... go to a jail or something.. you can hear it... try.?
