You know I thought he was making things up when he talked about Jim Henson teaching him Sunday school but I looked into it and it turns out Henson was briefly teaching Christian science Sunday school around that time and place. And David would've been the right age too. Crazy.
Not long after Jim Henson quit teaching Sunday school he wrote to the church that he was no longer practicing Christian science. Amazing how Jim teaching Sunday school was such an unimportant part of his own life but a major touchstone in David Liebe Hart's life.
I have long since assumed everything David says about things that happened to him (not involving aliens) is true, since little things keep coming out that make it all so plausible.
David answering by saying "I love art" and then talking about how important it is for children was a beautiful genuine moment in this.
