Thanks for the video. Though I'd add for anybody else, years ago I thought I had blown a head gasket because of the water/oil mix you are seeing too. I did the head and it still happened. turned out to be a ruptured oil cooler.
Yeah seen the oil cooler failure before!
Nice easy fix that!
Thanks for watching and commenting bud
Great video, just what i needed
Cool man! Glad it was useful to ya!
Good video, liked and subscribed, look forward to the service video :-)
Thanks a lot! Yeh probably do the service in a couple of months. Couple of other bits to do first :)
Great result 👍👍 so it was the ht lead solely causing this do you think? or in conjunction with the bad wiring on the hall sender too? Glad you got it sorted i love these cars 👍
Cheers mate, yeah I’m 99% sure it was the HT lead that was causing the problem, although that shagged wiring couldn’t have been helping things!
They’re great aren’t they ?!:)
@@MK2GolfStories Glad you got it sorted 👍 These have to be the best cars they ever made, I've never driven a mk1, but those along with the mk2...just look at them! 😍👍👍
When I was mechanic, retired now, I would troubleshoot one thing at a time. This way I knew when I got to the problem. But everyone works their own way. Thanks, RickGTI 🔧🇺🇸
Mate I've been chasing the same problem with my 16v mk2 - you gave me a few new ideas to try. Did you find out the cause of the mayo in breather pipe? Maybe condensation? Ta for the vid
Ah good I hope it helps and you get to the bottom of it.
Yeah I looked in to it a bit more and it’s totally normal to get water vapour in the engine there , the engine draws moisture in when it’s shut off as it creates a vacuum air (and any moisture in).
@@MK2GolfStories I'm still chasing the issue after swapping / messing with dizzy and now think I've fried a starter motor from cranking on a badly timed lump. IHaven't found any goop in my pipes though ;)
@@SoreHands have you checked your timing and all your HT leads?

Oh god jesus I hope you understand you were about/could have damaged the whole mechanic by PRESSING that?
It should be PULLED upwards, preferably with a magnet for ease movement
By pressing the flap for the Kjet?
You’re supposed to be able to check it’s not sticking by lightly pressing it though
