Same xD
@gaming with mikeygamer no one asked for this
Still has more I/O than a lot of modern laptops.
It’s fascinating how people can make their own devices.
Watching this in 2024 makes me feel nostalgic and miss the good old days
this guy has more jam jars in his workshop than i will ever have in my life. 2016 was a peaceful time with good memories.
I'm looking into some of this stuff as a new adventure. Decided on a couple of RPi 3B's and already fooling around with the first for tests while I wait for the mail. The builds and experiences of others help a lot.
Speedrun that minecraft with a wooden raspberry pi laptop like a madlad
I'm very much impressed by your work
30 fps? Thats clearly more than my 10 fps

Nicely done but would have been great if you explained the electronics more.

The music says it all lol
this is beautiful
Hey how do I make a cardboard case for my mini keyboard with touch pad built in
Hey I'm almost done with my cardboard computer I'm making I just dunno what I can use to hold the screen up Ik usually id use hinges but I don't think hinges would work with cardboard but do u know any ideas what I can use to hold up the screen to the case hmm
You could probably just use hinges and superglue them to the cardboard. JoshBuilds made a video in building a cardboard laptop and it might be a good idea to check out what he did
I was watching this channel since 3000 subs
Love your channle it's so helpful even my dad wachtes it
Hi, could you tell us he names of the items you used? The eBay links stopped working.
BRO ALL THIS STUFF U CAN DO U SHOULD HAVE LIKE 10MILL SUBS

i wonder, can you make a raspberry pi laptop using cardboard? with the same part layout as in video
What surprised me more is that he was 15 when he made this 💀

Its amazin how to build laptop ❤❤💎
So this is where it started🤔
i'm not a techie, so could someone tell me whether this has a cooling system, because my pc's CPU hit a fine 70 degrees celcius one time, and this thing is literally made of wood.

This is really cool, but since it has been a while, maybe you should re make one, and see if you can make it slimmer, and 3D Printed! That would be awesome!
Good job dude! I look forward to seeing what you do next.
Thanks!
Dude, N-O-D-E just commented on your video. Holy crap
you know you're doing good when someone as cool as N-O-D-E watches your stuff

Hey, that looks cool! Since you are working with wood you can use a wood polish to make it cool even cooler. Thanks.

THE COMEBACK OF A LIFETIME
Very interesting. I dig it though. I might have to do something like this. Cheers.
You should it's a lot of fun! Cheers!
Amazing! Congratulations!
Hey! Nice video, do you have plans for the frame of the laptop?
ive been wanting to do something like that for months now and yours is amazing!! it would be cool if you expose the other ports from the driver board so you could double it as a portable screen as well :)
I was 4 wen til his came out
Nice job! Have been used a tablet case´s keyboard? I´ve built my portable RPi with this keyboard also, but in separeted parts. Your project case looks like an old Toshiba Libretto´s subnotebook, but updated to 2017! Do you have plans to make a tutorial? Thanks.
Lol. It actually does look a lot like the Toshiba. Good observation.
Currently I have no plans to make a video tutorial. But lately I have been working on making a tutorial on my website for the laptop. Here's the link: gadgetcreation.weebly.com/diy-raspberry-pi-laptop.html
How do you convert the 12v from the battery to the required 5v of the pi?
Wow i just noticed you used the same parts I did, I even have the exact same keyboard from an old tablet case lol
This was great!
1 thing though...
you can buy a wired trackpad off of amazon for cheap
and add it to this laptop!
That was literally one of the coolest awesomest things I have seen in a long time and all built by hand from scratch (minus the Pi)!! I would be very interested in making a mini portable PC with the Pi similarily except perhaps minus the laptop functionality but have it as an All-in-One PC with an external mouse and keyboard. Would there be a way to rig it up to a mini-power supply by Silverstone or something and rig up a low-end graphics card for light PC gaming if I install Windows on it? Purely for light Steam gaming like MMO's and stuff. Would only be running the Nvidia GT210 off it as I already have that card off the shelf. Also have an extra PSU I am not using from an old build so I am very interested in using the Pi to make an ultra mini low power usage gaming PC if it's at all possible.
That's a really neat idea! You should be able to wire some sort of graphics card straight to the gpio. I'll look into it further if I can get the time.
Thanks! That sounds cool. I will do some more research as well.
Hello, nice build. Me too I'm building a similar laptop, you can see the first part in my channel.
Can you tell me what battery charger/controller board did you use? I'm still undecided, perhaps I'm going to build a circuit for it.
Can you charge and use the computer at once?
Good Project
would you happen to have a pdf file to print out the parts to be cut? or a sheet saying what each part of case is and the measurements? that would be great and help me so i can make one too.
Sorry i currently don't. But I might be able to get you the measurement's
Really this is a amazing proyect! It's very creative. Could you send me the measures also please? That would be great
I've got a question, it woud be really nice if someone could awnser it: is there a possible way to connect a screen from an old laptop to the PI without a controllboard? By the way cool and nice Video
I'm sorry but there isn't. You have to have the driver board for the screen to work. GreatScott has a really helpful video on how to turn an old laptop screen into an hdmi screen, you should check it out if you haven't already.
Electronic Grenade Wow thanks for the fast support! I'll check that out (left a sup.)
Hi
Hello there, I have the same keyboard as you have. But I only have the keys to the keyboard. where can I buy an adapter so I can use the keyboard? I got the keyboard from salvaging parts from an old Sylvania notebook computer.
very cool!
very cool
Dude this is very kool!
Wow you are my hero bro !! Nice Video
ENGINEERING MOTIVATING VID! THX!
Nice build! Just a few questions. I assume that you picked up some sort of LiPo charging circuit for the battery, and probably used a regulator to bring down the battery to 5v for the the Pi. But for the display did you just wire that directly to the battery/charging board so that could get 12v and the Pi could get 5v? Overall great build and I'm probably going to have to do my own! Very impressive, subbed!
Good questions! So actually I just bought a 12v 6800mah battery that came with a charger meant for that battery. For the display I hooked it up directly to the battery and used a car 12v to 5v 1a converter to power the Pi.
Huh, interesting. The only thing I'd be worried about is the 1a for the Pi. Doesn't the 3 need 2.5a to run safely? I guess you can get away with it but to be safe it seems like having something like a pololu regulator in there would be an improvement. Thanks for the reply! I really hope you keep updating and improving this DIY build!
Yeah you're correct. I forgot to mention that you can switch from 1a to 2a on the converter. But I think eventually I will switch out the car converter to a safer and better quality one. The reason I used the car converter is simply because I was in a hurry to finish this project and a forgot to get a converter so I just picked the car converter at the dollar store. :)
Ah, makes sense. Well, if it does the job for now then congrats. By the way, any thoughts on adding a touchpad? To me it's important to a laptop that there is a trackpad of some sort, but it's unbelievably hard to find the exact design I'm looking for. It's a shame I can't find a stand-alone USB touchpad. Oh well, the search continues. :/
I really wanted to add a touchpad but like you said its very difficult to find one that can fit comfortably and is usb. I might just try to remove the trackpad from this wireless keyboard ( www.ebay.com/itm/Rii-X1-Mini-2-4GHz-Black-Wireless-Keyboard-with-Mouse-Touchpad-Remote-Control-/111821091071?hash=item1a090e70ff:g:nG4AAOSw7s5Xg-Yl ) and work it into my laptop. If I ever manage to find a nice small trackpad i"ll be sure to let you know.
A great video thanks for the inspiration
