- The polar night is here. It's a time of stillness and coziness but we do try to squeeze in something outdoorsy every day. Otherwise, I would just sleep all day long.
This is a video of one day during the polar night. We go out skiing in the national park of Pallas-Yllästunturi. Welcome to join our rather dark but incredibly beautiful day in the arctic ❄️💙

I'm a nature lover and creative soul living far North of Finland. I live in a remote cabin with my dog, travel in the North, and seek inspiration in the wild nature around me.
I create photographs, videos, and music, inspired by this Northern nature and its magic.
Welcome to my world 💛

Dear Sanna, thank you for this video! From a Portuguese person that has literally 300 days of sun shinning, I am going to Finland for work between November and March and I am quite a bit afraid of feeling depressed for not getting that much sunlight! I will work close to Ivalo :) thank you so much for showing me a beautiful and positive way of going through the polar nights
🌼
It is my pleasure to watch your videos, my charming finnish friend
Sanna, XLNT commentary and knowledge and information about Finland and beautiful videography.🥰
I feel a great kinship in your admiration of the beautiful winter skies! I'm always doing the same thing; I feel like you have to exclaim how beautiful it is to anyone around or else you're not doing it justice. Also loved your reframing of this dark time of the year as one of peace and coziness. I'm spending this winter trying to change my opinions on the cold and dark.
I feel many times my words are just "wow, look at the sky, it's amazing", but I'm glad you understand that 😁It's definitely not easy dealing with cold and dark, I understand if you struggle. I do, too. With enough rest and a lot of kindness to yourself, it gets easier ❤
Looks like such a fun & beautiful adventure, the sky was magical!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful Polar night with us, your channel is my absolute favourite :)
Aww, thank you, Megan 🥰 I'm glad you have found your way here and enjoy to hang around. Welcome 💙
ALL dogs are adorable, but Shelties are amazing ❤
Brought tears of longing to go home... my ancestors 💎
Going back and watching all your winter videos, I love how you embrace winter and it’s really inspiring me! I live in Saskatchewan, Canada, and although we don’t have the exact same winter as you do, our winters can be pretty cold and tough and I would love to be able to embrace it more. Thank you for your channel! 💙❄️
very interesting and uplifting to the spirit-james usa

Thanks for another great video of your daily live. Seeing the aurora is such an amazing sight. Hopefully I will see it to next month in TromsØ. Hugs and kisses
Aww, thank you 🥰 I keep my thumbs up to you, I hope you get to see them! ☺👍
Thank you very much for this beautiful vlog. I enjoyed it so much. ❄
I love winter very much. There is hardly any winter in the Netherlands. It's getting warmer in the winter. It will be 11 degrees in the next few days. So no frost.
Thank you so much 🥰 Ugh, 11 degrees is not nice for a person who loves winter like you 😮 Maybe visit Finland some winter to get some frosty feelings? ☺❄
What part of Northern Finland are you in? I will be going to Inari for the first time next December and for my first Polar Night so I don't know what to expect! Soooo exciting!
Do you have any other source of heat, aside from your woodstove? Our woodstove is our main source of heat in our tiny cabin but if we are going to be away for some hours, or overnight, we use a small propane heater to keep the cabin above freezing. Acoustic instruments and oil paints and a few other things can be adversely affected by temps below 0 Celsius.
Do you ever have problems with frozen pipes in your house? Does your camera freeze outside in the cold?
Great scenery. This is off topic, but do you guys listen to Ville Valo or HIM? He is a famous Finnish musician and I wonder if regular Finns still find him popular?
He was more listened to in Finland when HIM was still together and playing in gigs. But I bet almost every Finnish person knows his name ☺
Always feeling better coming out of Pallas then going in... Has some healing and appeasing effect I feel. Where do you leave from. We always leave from Lapland Hotel Pallas but it's sometimes so busy...
You said it very well! Pallas has that kind of spirit to lift the mood up in any season ☺It depends a lot where we are going and in winter time it's easy to leave from any place. The hotel is a great place to start and end, in the best cases, you can get a burger or a donut after the hike 😁🙈
Polar nights - so no sun comes and when you have solar panels on the roof of your cabin, no heat transfer is made - which is why I think Solar regeneration in Winter places is a bit stupid if you ask me, unless your roof is angled to dissolve the layers of snow.
Well, The sun never sets in the summer time . Balamce
How is the temperature out there?
It depends much. Normal winter temperature is between -10C to -30C. Below that is some what more rare but happens every winter.
NO bears? NO fox? NO unwelcome intruders? NO crime?
I really wanna know if anyone of you Nordic people have severe depression because of this? Or does your depression spikes up on the no sun days? Curious girl from a region where 16°c degrees is considered cold lol
