2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - Rear Differential Fluid Change

  • Turns out, its really cheap and easy to change the rear differential fluid in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. It only takes a quart. I used Amsoil. They have a good reputation for a reason! I believe the repair manual I have states to do this every 72k miles. I did it at 102k miles, and the old fluid still looked almost new.

    Always remove the fill plug first. As NAPP3R stated, help with faster drainage. But, mainly because if you cannot remove your fill plug because it is seized or stripped, you have no way to fill the now drained differential. Thank you for sharing.

    Try taking out the fill plug first and it’ll pour out faster

    of course it’s going to look clean, not like it’s engine oil exposed to carbon.
    But the viscosity is breaking down. So needs changed.
