Sounds good.
Great video - I love the no talking format and the guitar was in tune!
It's amazing how many people put out videos with a guitar that isn't in tune or has really crap intonation.
Watching these videos I seriously wonder why I care so much about my guitar in tune
Nice observation. But how do you come to know if a guitar is in tune?? Just my curiosity?
@@jupa6100 it will sound "right"
Katana is one of the best sounding effects in modeling amps.
Excellent demo! A skilled guitarist with an in-tune guitar and no talking made this a very useful video showcasing the Katana's sounds. I am convinced, I am going to get one!
No talking the best way to do a demo. Thanks.
my jaw dropped at 2:53 what a beautiful sounding riff
Me too, sounded awesome with the swampy tremolo thing going on. I could spend hours with this tone.
@@alanknott363 This is really cool, forgot I posted this comment. I ended up getting the 100 and the tremolo is definitely my favourite sound.
Mine arrived today and I'm very pleased. I've been using a Spider and it's just so much easier to dial in what I want with the Katana. Quality amp, I'd recommend to anyone on the fence.
the pedal bend effect in tandem with the octave is gnarly. that pretty much sealed the deal for me
Now this is the video I needed. Learning some power chords last night and couldn't for the life of me get the right tone.
I bought one of these and I'm stunned. While both my gigging tube amps were in the shop, I bought the 50 mkII for home practice. I took the Katana to band practice to get me by since my other amps weren't back. I couldn't believe it! This thing had PLENTY of volume and sounded great! I took it back for the show! The room seats 100 and I didn't go through PA- Amp only! My Tele sounds great through it. If you are playing metal, or your band plays at very high volumes, this might not be gig worthy for you. But in a band that plays country, blues, etc at moderate levels, it might just work. What a value at $250. I might even sell my tube amps. I play all clean. I haven't tried the distortion settings at a gig. So I can't speak for that. But I ran my Boss delay through the front(no effects loop) and it took the pedal extremely well. I can say I would have chosen the 100 watt version for an extra $100 which is better set up for gigs had I known this thing would do so well. Another thing is when I got it home, I thought it sounded a bit thin, but I think the speaker is really opening up after several hours of playing.
I have gigged a 100 head for a couple of years now and never used it in 100 watt mode!! Plenty loud enough at 50 watts.
If you put a mic in front of it you could play arenas with it. Stage volume kills sound
Because of this I am buying my first Katana.
Thank you indeed... Two thumbs up 👍🏻👍🏻✨
Thank you so much for a great video. Just recently purchased this amp and there's so much tones to get out of it I couldn't figure out how. Your video made it perfectly clear to get the tones I am looking for. thanks again
3:30 the fake shine on you crazy diamond😂
Hahaha
Fake or not sounded pretty good to me.
@@gilpi552 only fake
You nailed it!!!
I was thinking of "whenever, wherever" by Shakira....lol
Just bought this using this as a guide
Those were some really sick riffs 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
love the playing, thanks
I’ve been a diehard tube amp guy for years but I’m really tempted by these. I think for me the foot switch is a must have for it but I really like the idea and they sound amazing for a solid state modeling amp. The price is amazing too.
its not equiped with a output jack for cabinets but that is easy remedy
Had a Mesa/Boogie MkIII built for me in 1986. Totally loved it and played it for 25 years. Sold it 5 or 6 years ago. Tubes are getting harder to find. It was heavy AF and I'm not getting younger. LOL I don't have one of these yet but thinking hard about it. No way would I pay another $100 for 50 more watts. Stage volume kills sound. Cheers!
Do it, You won't regret it!
@@donotfret what's the remedy
@@naivedays5421 the speaker has four terminals on the back. get the appropriate size conectors at a local auto parts store and some speaker wire . snip off the jack end off a guitar cable and splice the speaker wire to the guitar cord then plug into back of 4 ohm cabinet.
SIMPLY PERFECT!!!
This is the best Katana settings demo on CZcams by far. I would love to know if the Katana had the original speaker for this demo and if not, what the replacement speaker was. Thank you for this video. It has every sound I find not only usable but amazing.
Hey, he said it's only recorded via Rec out (00:42)... and I love it even more !!
Just the video I was looking for and very informative 😎
That's some really nice revreb!
Stayed for the awesome playing. 🙌
I just picked up the Katana Air. I can't stop giggling
My friend is getting one of these for my late birthday and I CANNOT!! wait till it arrives.
Youve got good friends!
Wait you guys got friends?
How do I get in on this circle of crazy generous friends?
They all sound good, I was hoping to hear a Fender tube clean setting
Great review.
Excellent video.
Well done. Excellent. Thanks a lot.
My favourite amp! Very versatile, lightweight and intuitive!
Great sounding amp for not a lot of money. Enjoyed the demo.👍
was watching videos to see if I should purchase the 50 MKII. this gave me a definite yes
nice demo !
I loved every tone
Thank you! This is great
Best Demo, thanks!
Thanks for the video. Did you have output from the speaker of the katana while recording? Is it possibile go to the PA and using the amp as "monitor"?
No copyright Gilmour 3:31 xddd
Did you write the first riff? It's really good! If not, what is it?
Sound really great, im interested.
Great job!
Great video thank you!
3:30 i decided to buy it right there! great fucking tone.
These are great riffs for Guitar Center. No more Smoke on the Water.
Picked up the Katana Artist, all I can say is WOW !!!! The Waza speaker, that only comes in the Artist, takes the Katana to a new level. If you can swing the change I highly recommend, had a Marshall DSL40...I think I'm going Japanese, I think I'm going Japanese I really think so...Katana what an amp
Hi, im between to the marshall dsl40 with a multieffect pedalboard or katana artists mk2. What of those two amps sounds better??
I got the Boss Katana MKII 50 11 days ago the tone studio makes that amp do what no other amp does I really recommend it the MKII 50 or the MKII 100 212 awesome sounds for the price
why isnt every demo video on earth like this
what guitar was used for this demo? sounds like a strat, but im not sure.
Been saving a little bit for a new amp had a peavey valveking sorry I got rid of it but thinking of getting this one
What kind of guitar was used for this video?
Thanks for this video ;)
How as this recorded? Perfect video.
This is awesome and it did help me but I can't figure out how to turn on my booster button
Awesome video! Do you know how can i connect the amp with the app ti the smartphone please?
Cool demo. I have the mk 1. Can you change the effects order in mk2 tone studio?
Sebastian B You can configure 4 chains in Tone Studii, shifting the amp through the chain which has a fix order, so able putting fx before and after the amp
I don't have an audio interface.. if I plug it directly on my PC with a USB A/B cable it will record fine??? I heard it acts as an audio interface.. so I don't need to buy one.. I mostly want to buy it to save some money.. someone can help me to answer that???
Oohhh I gotta get me one of these babies! I'm overly partial to my Vox VT20+ but this might just go neck and neck with her.
Fast Sloth - I picked up the same amp for $40 at a pawn shop but haven’t played with it much. I was actually intending to gift it but might keep it for myself. I haven’t even downloaded a manual yet. Have you created your own sounds? How do you save or keep track of them?
Wait, so you can download effects from computer to the amp? And does the software come for free w the amp?
Nice riffs
if "recorded via rec out" is true then holy man that di sounds pretty good for a 1/4" cable!
It is the closest to the kemper I have found in regards to quality.
Yes.
Should I get this or the Positive Grid Spark Amp?
does the 50 have access to the same pre and post eqs as the artist 100? in the software there is like 3 EQs you can move pre or post distortion, it's crazy versatle
I've got windows 7 professional and I can't get it to work with the computer and I tried emailing but I keep coming up short. Awesome video.
Ty.. great video
Will it work as a gigging amp in terms of volume on small bars/club?
If I want to have much distortion am I forced to used those presets to the left? Because I thought I could achieve the one I want with just mixing with the gain and booster but it seems like I hit a limit.
An overdrive infront of the amp along with the gain on moderate should do the trick
I just got this amp and had to get through the day at work before I got a chance to sit down with it. Does it only come with a power cord?
I sold my viper vip2 and ended up with one of these there grest amps and sound awsome but I feel like my vip2 just had a little more to it just bigger sound
Thanks a lot!
So much cooler and much more intuitive than a Spark
bit new to all those how’d you get the pedal level to go up and down at 4:28
Can’t beat the price. For instance,H&K Spirit 200 is the best SS on the market but at a$1400 price tag for the combo .Add another couple of hundred dollars for the foot switch.Love that amp but can’t justify $1700 to the wife.
hmmmmmmmm I'm having a hard time picking a 1st amp... it's down to this or the Orange 35RT, the Katana mkii 100 is way over priced in Canada, it's double the 50 :(
How do you get the distortion sound in your guitar? I can never get a distortion effect on my guitar. The only distortion sound I can get is when I use my brown amp type and there is only small traceable amounts
u have to turn the gain up
🤟💯🎸🎶🎶🎶🎶 top demais, Boss Katana é muito boa 💪💪🇧🇷
What is difference between the two clean settings? Seems that the new clean variation is a bit fuller and fatter sounding?!
Marian Hoffmann sounds more like a fender
Too my ears it has a more pronounce d but gentle highs. I dig it
The variation is brighter like Fender
0:46 REC OUT is MONO interface, how you make it stereo?
Roland Cube in a better form factor.. gotta love it! Awesome for the old guy with a bad back weekend club warrior :)
Loll, exactly me...wanted something light, I'm. 67:(
I just got this amp last week (Katana 50 mk2). Love it! But I'm having trouble trying to access the 3rd and 4th channels. I have the Boss FS-6 pedal. Any thoughts to help me out?
Hold the panel button until you see a flashing red light. Then you are in the other preset channels.
With the fs6 the A pedal is your channel select and B pedal is switching between bank 1 and bank 2. press pedal A you switch between channel 1 and 2 then press pedal B and you switch to channel 3 if your on channel 1 or channel 4 if your on channel 2 then pedal A will switch between channel 3 and 4.
are you using the TRS cable? sounds like you may be using just a TS
Just made an order on amazon and realized I ordered the first model,I can still cancel it and get the newer one, will be a pain.... is it worth it?
Did you ? I would have said absolutely
Not a pain to cancel orders lol. Hit cancel order if they haven’t shipped it.
I can hear some Priest in those heavy riffs!👍🏼
Aux in? Will mp3's playback on this, and sound good?
I didnt know "Variation," was a thing. I learn something new everyday with this amp. This is only day 4 lol
I tried all of the settings you had and every time it didn’t sound the same at all.
How can i plug in my pedalboard? To clean channel?
Plug into power amp in the back, then set to clean channel. That's it!
i have one, how do i get the software katana boss MK II ?
Great amp.
I've just tried one today. On brown channel you get this crazy buzz sound, how did you get remove it.
I have nothing unwanted on my brown channel...exactly how did you have it dialed in?
@@geraldhenrickson7472 I wish I have recorded it. I have returned the amp now and got a vox vt20x and all is good now.
its not equiped with a output jack for cabinets but that is easy remedy
Katana vs roland cube gx..which one better sound?
Does this amp have noise gate?
Messing around tonight I finally figured out that the clean variation was imparting brightness and gain I didn’t want. 😂
what tuning is this? drop D?
this amp is good on it's own, even with pedals in front of it, but it has something to it that doesn't quite cut something. i just can't put my finger on it, but something is missing, not the tubes, not the dynamics, but something...
Mustafa Can Kaya mojo
@@powndrone650 i dont know man. i just dont know.
I kind of had the same issue with the original 50. Maybe this new one will be better.
Seriously.I had the Katana 100 complete with pedal board ,but after 3 months of playing there was something missing to the feel of it .Thought because it was solid state. i don't know what it was.Went back to tube amps but had to bail on them because of volume issues.Tubes sound good turned up ! Maybe will try one and see how good the the Boss tube logic power is.
@@Torino2006 i'm actually playing on laney cub12r these days. 1 watt is still too loud to drive insane big muff, but it takes me there. but katana 50 is with 0.5w, still does amazing job, though i just don't want to play with solid state amps much, i let my friend borrow it for a while.
LOVE IT.....PRICE IS RIGHT.....
Anyone know what the power control is for? like does it change when you choose 25w over 50w or something like that?
The power defines the max volume it can have and maybe the quality (i have got it but im not an expert)
Does boss have sort of a tone cloud like PG?
Yes & no. Can get several patches from Boss Tone Central. Others u need to download from non-Boss websites like guitarpatches(dot)com.
Fizral Eofw got my Spark. Best amp ever used or heard in my life.
@@diegofiorillo6412 Spark looks & sounds nice. Fyi, Katana also has 3rd party phone app which the features are if not the same, more than BTS. Just not with bluetooth connection. :D
Nossgrr hey man, that’s a great amp. I might pick one up again later on but yeah I am loving the spark. Rock on 🤘🏽
Jaunca Nery has a great site his stuff isn’t cheap. I highly recommend it if your looking for a specific patch.
What's the song at 0:17?
Is it good (the 50 MKII) for a live situation in a small club? Can he "survive" a drummer? :)
U need a 20Watt-50Watt amp imo
This can blast full 50w no problemo
@@godlikeghost4839 yeah
Small bars and clubs this handles !!!
SOLD!
Ok but does the guitar pickups have anything to do with what the amp sounds like?
to an extent, but the amp is the real instrument for tone, effects etc.
