Isa Sir Jonah Lomu rest in Peace. One of the Greatest if not the Greatest Ever NZ 7s Final. Lots of Legends in both Teams. Fiji with the Mercurial Waisele Legend Serevi, BootStrap The Stretcher Bill Satala, Speed Merchants Delasau and Vunibaka. NZ with Evergreen Rush, Mils Muliaina, Jonah Lomu, Cullen. Thanks For The Memories!!!
This Fiji team is considered as the best that was ever assembled. What's even more amazing about it was the fact that they were assembled just one week before the tournament. Some of them came from Japan while Vunibaka was picked up in New Zealand but they gelled quickly as if they were together for a long time before the tournament started.
Two of Fijis Greatest Speedsters, Delasau man was on another level during that round robin I remember watching it in school days. There was one tourney I cant remember which one where he scored a hattrick in every game leading into the final. He even won the final single handedly. hahaha Legend Id love to see him up against carlin isles haha
When Delasau scored that second try, you see the heads down, they knew then that these two are going to be a handful from here on, fitness has a big part to play at these moment....and the all blacks lacked that
Medoplayz roblox New Zealand right now has about 5 Fijian on there team you should be thanking them with all the Fijian players that played for NZ dummy
1:40:19 early push from nz, should have been penalty to Fiji 1:40:34 nz walking round in the scrum instead of pushing, should have been another penalty to fiji
2:04:48 yooo that old super 12 ad is really lit..got me hyped up over here As for the game while they lost NZ came back at Fiji the following week in the Suva 7s which i gotta ask..anyone got tape of that one?
Isa in this game Sir Jonah Lomu was not at his best. He was probably already sick and a sevens training regime probably made him tired. He was not at his best in attack and defence but as the hero he is, he turned upto make a memorable tournament for all....RIP Sir Jonah Lomu from Fiji.
The ref was very biased in the final...rush was punching players right infront of the ref but he just making an excused to justify the act...in your face rushy....your dirty tactics didn't work this time dude....you lost fair and square....and i thought vunibaka or delasau will be given the player of the final not that mr nobody....this was an era of racisms n prejudice
+Jared Russell No they didn't. Fiji were leading the series until they choked in the last tournament by losing to Argentina in the quarter final. All Fiji had to do was win that one quarter final and they would have won the series. But what happened is their stars went to the 15's team because they had to qualify for the world cup that year
@@MarkWhippy ha ha, it does not matter as long as fiji bt nz in their own tournament n in front of their home crowd.......nz stacked with super stars like lomu, cullen, muliaina, rush who went on to become all blacks greats...
Unpopular comment: Serevi was an overrated player. He couldnt tackle for his life, and you can tell he was scared of getting hit, never diving for the ball and sometimes even refusing to catch it if a defender was nearby (wtf). A talent in attack but he would always go for the step or the dummy and if the doors were closed he would always give the pass (and the tackle) to a teammate. Flashy for a highlight reel but when you see a whole tournament you realice he was overrated. If he hadnt played for Fiji surrounded by those talents, he would just be remember as a decent, flashy player.
Yes, Serevi wasn't the biggest, or strongest, or fastest guy on the field, nor the best/strongest defender/tackler, but he didn't need to be as he had others on his team who fulfilled those roles, his talents were elsewhere. His acceleration off the mark was up there with the best and combined with his sidestep he was unparalleled at breaking any opponent's defensive line, he was given the nickname (one of the many) wizard due to his ability to create something from nothing. He was usually heavily marked and thus created space & opportunities for the rest of the team to show their talent. He was also know as the Little General due to the way he organised & controlled the Fijian team in attack and defence, this is not obvious from TV footage as it usually concentrates on where the ball is. If Serevi played well, Fiji played well, there were a few occasions where he didn't play because of injury and Fiji were terrible, so naturally it was in Serevi's and Fiji's best interest to avoid getting into situations where he might be injured. His weakness in defence was well known and even criticised in Fiji, but Fiji devised strategies to cover up this weakness, not ideal but he more than made up for it elsewhere.
