Hard to believe that both Shannon and Luke Perry are gone. Dylan and Brenda were THE couple on THE biggest show, for those of us who grew up in the early 1990s. Great memories.

Jennie Garth didn't like that Shannen was getting more attention on the show, because Shannen had a lot of experiences with acting and she didn't like that Brenda and Dylan were a couple on the show. I loved that Brenda and Dylan were a couple. I stopped watching the show when the story line shifted to Kelly and Dylan. It got so stupid.
We'll never know the exact reasons as to why they didn't get along but she did the right thing by not allowing them to come to her funeral. I'll be doing the same when I die. No need for hypocrites showing up who just want to save face.

I do not think that Shannen's ex-husband Kurt should go to the funeral because he obviously cheated on her for two years especially when she was very ill and dying. That was disgusting behavior for what he did.
I'm surprised that Gabrielle Carteris wasn't also excluded, considering the fact that when Gabrielle got married (during the time that 90210 was on TV), Shannen Doherty was the only cast member to be not to be invited to her wedding.

This story is half "correct". While it is very much true that Shannen did not get along with both Milano and Garth while she was costars with both of them, she and Jennie reconciled over the years and did indeed become friends again, following each other on socials, etc. Whereas Shannen NEVER reconciled with Milano, and for good reason. Alyssa is a huge phony.

My mom told me not to tell anyone when she passed away. I respected her wishes even though her family wanted a funeral I knew my mom meant what she asked for.
Your mum was smart and saved you from a lot of trouble. When my Dad died I invited everyone and they gave me a hard time, they bullied me wanting me to move out of my house.
My dad was the same way. He passed in 09 at 72 and was clear for years he didn't want an obituary, and to only tell inner circle people, no formal wake or funeral just a quick graveside burial service for immediate family. We followed his wishes.

I am not proud to admit that I believed the rumors about Shannen being hard to work with on 90210. Then she got fired from Charmed and everyone pointed to her 90210 firing. I just accepted it. I still loved Shannen though. After she shared her initial cancer diagnosis nine years ago, I watched a lot of interviews with her. My gut told me that there was a lot more to the story. Then about five years ago, I realized that every single co-star from Charmed was friends with Shannen- Holly, Rose, Brian and Drew. Everyone except Alyssa Milano. I also followed her on social media and saw that Brian Austin Green, Ian Ziering, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, Gabrielle Carteris and even Jennie Garth (to some extent) were friends with her! What I thought I knew about Charmed was totally wrong. When you have five co-stars from the show telling one story and one saying it's not true, then it's kinda true, then it's revisionist history. The guilty one is very easy to spot! It breaks my heart that Shannen got fired from Charmed because of Alyssa. Shannen's Prue was a total badass and so much more enjoyable than Alyssa's Phoebe. But she told them to fire Shannen or she would sue for a hostile work environment. She had someone documenting every word ever said to her as alleged proof. Shannen had her job taken away and lost millions of dollars in residuals. I listened to Shannen's podcast from the first episode. I'm glad that I got to know her through it, as did many fans. We also got to hear the truth. RIP Shannen. We love you and will always miss you!
Well the people on 90210 said she was hard to work with and the people working behind the scenes on Charmed said she was hard to work with. Professionally it’s best to keep up appearances and be friends with everyone in Hollywood than it is to be in drama or not friends. People who complain about a celeb usually get hounded by their fans, so those who have grievances likely stay quiet. I can imagine a large amount of Charmed fans who were Pro Shannon likely hounded the new cast members and asked them questions to see if they were pro allyssa or pro shannen, they could easily just play both sides and follow both celebs to avoid the mess

On Shannen's Instagram, somebody asked about having Jennie on her Let's Be Clear podcast and Shannen answered of course. I don't think Shannen was shutting Jennie out.
I'm sure all that were on the yea list were emailed their invites. Certain celebrities are very specific as to who and why people are invited or not. It's a personal thing, you wouldn't want people that font like you to your birthday party.

Yeah, I had hoped they’d get along really well, also. I was sorry to hear they weren’t exactly a vibe match but Shannen is from the South and lived in California for the last part of her childhood and then her entire adulthood and Alyssa is New York - Long Island specifically - and there you have it. You can take the lady out of the East Coast but you can’t … you know the rest. Alyssa had a more flexible approach to the work and Shannen had a more concrete working style and it just wasn’t a vibe match.

Only Shannen knows what really went on behind the scenes and the decades since after 90210 and Charmed ended so she has every right to choose whoever she wanted at her funeral. Alyssa especially dropped the ball in continuing the fued rather than owning up and reconciling her beef with Shannen.

I don't know if anyone actually sends out invitations, but I've been to several private funerals at the request of the family either by phone call or in person - their obituaries indicate there is a "private service" being held.
I love my original Charmed Sisters and that will be on my rotation to rewatch for years to come.💖 That being said I hate that Alyssa and Shannen didn’t work things out before she passed but maybe there were conversations behind the scene that we didn’t know about. Rest in peace Shannen.🥺💖🌈💐💐
That is why so many celebrities feel lonely. Even with their millions of fans and red carpet parties with other celebs, very few of them have REAL friends. Many don't have any friends at all. When you see all of these celebrities hugging and hanging out laughing together, it's nothing more than a photo op. They show you how much they love each other, when in real life they hate each other. It's a very sad life that so many go through and Shannen Doherty dealt with that her whole life like most do. RIP Shannen.
Shannon was the person that gave me strength to go threw cancer alone. I was terrified but she made it look like it was not as frightening and lonely as I thought it would be because somewhere out there others were fighting the same fight I was feeling as run down as I was and still keeping on going. I felt less alone when I was able to hear updates on her because literally the moment I told people I had cancer they all dropped me as a friend. My partner bailed on me because he didn’t want to be with a bald woman….he actually said that. The only other person who stayed was just staying because they kept asking who got my car when I died who got my jewelry. So I chose to kick that person out of my life because being alone was far better then being surrounded by jerks. Having updates on her was like hearing someone else who understood what I was going threw and it truly helped keep me going. I wish I could have thanked her for helping me so much.

Good for Shannen, I too am stage 4 yet living as long as possible. I did my will a decade or more ago and blocked about 20 people from high school, to my ex husband, ex boyfriends that were jerks etc.. Then I changed it to where I will have no funeral, no need. I will however let friends approved by my best friend or mom have them see me at the cemetery before I am interred and they can have a memorial somewhere near there and tell fun stories. It's important to make sure you do what you want in your life and your death.
You can’t get someone fired if they didn’t do something wrong. Alyssa had evidence of a hostile work place. That is what got Shannon fired ,her behavior on set. You don’t blame the victim for getting you fired. I’m not saying Alyssa was not a part of the bad behavior too. They are all to blame. I do not blame Shannon for not wanting to invite Alyssa Milano and Jennie Garth to the funeral because they caused her a lot of trouble and they are acting as hypocrites. I do not think that Shannen's ex-husband Kurt should go to the funeral because he obviously cheated on her for two years especially when she was very ill and dying. While it is very much true that Shannen did not get along with both Milano and Garth while she was costars with both of them, she and Jennie reconciled over the years and did indeed become friends again, following each other on socials, etc. Whereas Shannen NEVER reconciled with Milano, and for good reason. Alyssa is a huge phony.

My mom told me not to tell anyone when she passed away. I respected her wishes even though her family wanted a funeral I knew my mom meant what she asked for.
Your mum was smart and saved you from a lot of trouble. When my Dad died I invited everyone and they gave me a hard time, they bullied me wanting me to move out of my house.
My dad was the same way. He passed in 09 at 72 and was clear for years he didn't want an obituary, and to only tell inner circle people, no formal wake or funeral just a quick graveside burial service for immediate family. We followed his wishes.

I am not proud to admit that I believed the rumors about Shannen being hard to work with on 90210. Then she got fired from Charmed and everyone pointed to her 90210 firing. I just accepted it. I still loved Shannen though.
After she shared her initial cancer diagnosis nine years ago, I watched a lot of interviews with her. My gut told me that there was a lot more to the story. Then about five years ago, I realized that every single co-star from Charmed was friends with Shannen- Holly, Rose, Brian and Drew. Everyone except Alyssa Milano. I also followed her on social media and saw that Brian Austin Green, Ian Ziering, Jason Priestley, Tori Spelling, Gabrielle Carteris and even Jennie Garth (to some extent) were friends with her!
What I thought I knew about Charmed was totally wrong. When you have five co-stars from the show telling one story and one saying it's not true, then it's kinda true, then it's revisionist history. The guilty one is very easy to spot!
It breaks my heart that Shannen got fired from Charmed because of Alyssa. Shannen's Prue was a total badass and so much more enjoyable than Alyssa's Phoebe. But she told them to fire Shannen or she would sue for a hostile work environment. She had someone documenting every word ever said to her as alleged proof.
Shannen had her job taken away and lost millions of dollars in residuals. I listened to Shannen's podcast from the first episode. I'm glad that I got to know her through it, as did many fans. We also got to hear the truth. RIP Shannen. We love you and will always miss you!
Well the people on 90210 said she was hard to work with and the people working behind the scenes on Charmed said she was hard to work with. Professionally it’s best to keep up appearances and be friends with everyone in Hollywood than it is to be in drama or not friends. People who complain about a celeb usually get hounded by their fans, so those who have grievances likely stay quiet.
I can imagine a large amount of Charmed fans who were Pro Shannon likely hounded the new cast members and asked them questions to see if they were pro allyssa or pro shannen, they could easily just play both sides and follow both celebs to avoid the mess

Honestly, I’ve never heard of invitations to a funeral, I always thought anyone can show up to pay their respects.
I'm sure all that were on the yea list were emailed their invites. Certain celebrities are very specific as to who and why people are invited or not. It's a personal thing, you wouldn't want people that font like you to your birthday party.

I was sorry to hear they weren’t exactly a vibe match but Shannen is from the South and lived in California for the last part of her childhood and then her entire adulthood and Alyssa is New York - Long Island specifically - and there you have it. Alyssa had a more flexible approach to the work and Shannen had a more concrete working style and it just wasn’t a vibe match.

Only Shannen knows what really went on behind the scenes and the decades since after 90210 and Charmed ended so she has every right to choose whoever she wanted at her funeral. Alyssa especially dropped the ball in continuing the fued rather than owning up and reconciling her beef with Shannen.

I don't know if anyone actually sends out invitations, but I've been to several private funerals at the request of the family either by phone call or in person - their obituaries indicate there is a "private service" being held.
I love my original Charmed Sisters and that will be on my rotation to rewatch for years to come.💖 That being said I hate that Alyssa and Shannen didn’t work things out before she passed but maybe there were conversations behind the scene that we didn’t know about. Rest in peace Shannen.🥺💖🌈💐💐

That is why so many celebrities feel lonely. Even with their millions of fans and red carpet parties with other celebs, very few of them have REAL friends. Many don't have any friends at all. When you see all of these celebrities hugging and hanging out laughing together, it's nothing more than a photo op. They show you how much they love each other, when in real life they hate each other. It's a very sad life that so many go through and Shannen Doherty dealt with that her whole life like most do. Shannon was the person that gave me strength to go threw cancer alone. I was terrified but she made it look like it was not as frightening and lonely as I thought it would be because somewhere out there others were fighting the same fight I was feeling as run down as I was and still keeping on going. I felt less alone when I was able to hear updates on her because literally the moment I told people I had cancer they all dropped me as a friend. My partner bailed on me because he didn’t want to be with a bald woman….he actually said that. The only other person who stayed was just staying because they kept asking who got my car when I died who got my jewelry. So I chose to kick that person out of my life because being alone was far better then being surrounded by jerks. Having updates on her was like hearing someone else who understood what I was going threw and it truly helped keep me going. I wish I could have thanked her for helping me so much.
It is well documented that Jennie was not the kindest to Shannen. Funny how people "pretend" they are friends once they are gone. The same goes to the Saved By The Bell cast when Dustin passed.

Good for Shannen, I too am stage 4 yet living as long as possible. I did my will a decade or more ago and blocked about 20 people from high school, to my ex husband, ex boyfriends that were jerks etc.. Then I changed it to where I will have no funeral, no need. I will however let friends approved by my best friend or mom have them see me at the cemetery before I am interred and they can have a memorial somewhere near there and tell fun stories. It's important to make sure you do what you want in your life and your death.
People come to a funeral because it's appropriate, because they are curious about the funeral, you should be happy that someone wants to come at all.

Yeah, it’s not a common thing. But I think she did it to avoid having her mother doing it. Since she already knew she wasn’t going to last long, she didn’t want any burdens on her momma. She was concerned of dying before her mother; it will be hard on her momma.
I wouldn't send out invites but my family knows that my brother and his wife are not welcome to be at my funeral. My son will kick them out and tell them they are not welcomed.

There was a line from the movie Death Becomes Her. Something like , "Madelyn would show up to the opening of an envelope." Milano and Garth playing phony is what this reminds me of. Showing up for the photo op and publicity. Disgusting.
She and Garth reconciled over the years and ended becoming friends again. Don't believe everything in the press. Most of the time they don't know what they are even talking about.

Jennie garth actually had the audacity to go on her podcast, I choose me with Jennie Garth and act like they were best friends. There is an episode called I choose to grieve the death of Shannen Doherty. She has a therapist on and she cries about it. I understand that they made their peace, Shannen said they were in a good place, but the way she was crying on and on, you would’ve thought her best friend in real life died.
