    Gottta tell you, I was holding my breath for a good portion of this! I am a Floridian, and NOT an accomplished artist by any means, but there is no way I would have attempted this (a California sunset) on live camera, but you DID! And it was incredible! I learned a lot from your frustrations, which you overcame beautifully!!!!! Beautiful!!!!!! I learned so much!

    This was my weekend painting that spilled over a few days. Excellent use off color. For me it was a tough one. It really made me practice gradations. It also made me consider getting the reflection right. I found that early on in the painting I let the alignment of the reflection and similarity drift off and that’s where I got In trouble. In addition I really had to pay attention to the difference in value between the sky and the reflection. Excellent lesson. I will take your advice and paint the same reference 3 times. I’ll give this one a little while to rest so I can recover from painting induced PSD.

    • @GebahiArtworks
      @GebahiArtworks  Před rokem +1

      Yes, when it comes to clouds and reflections it can gets a little daunting! That’s why you just have to simplify what you see. For example, you don’t have to put everything you see, only what catches your eyes! I’ll give you an example like I did for someone else, simplifying a subject is like having your house on fire and you only have a backpack, what are the most important things that you can put in that backpack! Same with a painting, what are the most important parts that strikes you, the rest you can leave out! You can add or subtract what you want. You can enhance the story or dumb it down for the viewer to understand what you’re trying to convey. In one of the three paintings, try painting fast! By doing that, it will force you to quickly see what’s important without over thinking, because you won’t have time to think, only see quickly. Another exercise, look at the reference photo or painting for no more that 3sec. And see what you remember, and you’ll see that your brain will only remember the big shapes and what caught your eyes that split second!

      Hello Mohammad, I used two different brands of acrylics, I use Golden heavy body and Tri-Art high viscosity acrylics! You can find the links and coupons in the description. For brushes, I use synthetic white hair, make sure the hair is not too soft! Princeton synthetic brushes for acrylics are really good.
