Patrick Duffy was the funniest of them all and he does stand up. The 2 of them used to have the whole cast in stitches with the help of a bit of booze. Larry used to give advice to the other actors too on negotiating their contract with the producers.
Love watching this, also shows you how much WORK went into filming just the smallest scene. They always filmed in Dallas in June, July, sometimes early August, before filming the rest of the season in California. All the interior scenes were filmed in California. Outside shots at the real SF and in the Dallas area, usually aired thru November of that season. The summer of 1988 is the last time they filmed in Dallas for the series, part of the cost cutting the show went through as it's popularity and ratings began to fall.
@Judith Anderson: The reason why it is no longer showing is because Larry Hagman, who played JR Ewing in the original and the reboot version of DALLAS, had passed away and the writers were unable to kill the character so fast that it had to go the next mile - framing Cliff Barnes for the murder of JR Ewing. Im still watching dallas 2019 larry hagman was great. Sue ellen miss ellie and jock before he died the way he kept jr in order. The scenes and all the talented actors and actresses were excellent. Im glad years ago i bought all the dvd DVD's . Up larry rip. I hope they do a reboot.
Knots Landing was another great show and the spin off to Dallas with the characters of Gary and Valene Ewing Lucys parents moving to California and Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy along with Charlene Tilton guest starred in a couple of episodes throughout the years until the infamous Bobby returns from the Dead after that the crossovers stopped but only seasons 1 and 2 have been released on DVD still waiting for seasons 3 to 14 to get a release as it would be nice to have the collection complete. Dynasty managed to release all nine seasons with their short lived spin off The Colbys so it would be nice for someone to get hold of the show and give the fans what they want and have the complete BOXSET of Knots Landing as it is far more entertaining than the reality crap we have now ie: The Kardashians!
Julia, I would say Jock kept both JR and Bobby in order, everytime a fight would break out, Jock would be there to get between Bobby as well, not a onesided thing.
Loved this !!! Looks like they filmed it during the summer of 1983. The scaffolding on the back of SF is when they were supposably repairing Southfork after the fire at the end of the 5th season in May of 1983.
My first time at the real South Fork Ranch was around the time TNT of the new Dallas was just starting out. I have to admit that I enjoyed being at South Ranch when the cast and crew were not working that day. I did not have to wait hours and hours in the hot sun that day. I did the tour and visited the gift shop, walked around the Ranch for about three hours and my mother and I left. We went to see the Ranch three mor times over the years. I was blessed to Ranch while not waiting on the actors and also when there was only few people were at South Fork Ranch.
It's insane that Larry has been gone 12 years already! Indeed, we miss you and R.I.P.! These scenes really underscore the amount of work it takes for one damn scene lasting a minute or two! I am not sure if this was the entire shooting scene for Larry at the beginning of the video, but look at how many people show up just to film him and Patrick walking from the house to the car....and ever the trooper, Larry is wearing a three piece suit in the heat and hot Texas sun! It also shows his level of professionalism even if he was drunk all the time on set. It NEVER showed (at least negatively) in the results of the filming, and may have even boosted the characterization! And to have to play the character in front of hundreds of people from crew, extras, and onlookers....it takes true talent! God bless him!!
I visted the house in june 88, you could tour parts of the house & surrounding grounds, the pool looked very small, but was used in filming & the staicase in the house wasnt the same as we saw in the show, but they did film scenes in the kitchen & dinning room.
Man I don't think any of us appreciated how stunning Victoria Principle was back in the day. She's the most beautiful woman on TV or Film in the last 50 years, and it's not even close
Seeing that boom microphone, it's amazing how they don't end up in the framed shot more often. Even the shadow of it on the garage door must've played havoc. Good camera work!
Interesting that they played background music during filming. I have to wonder how they filtered that out afterwards for the final cut. Looks like all they used for sound was a boom mic which would have picked that up easily.
Totally awesome ... there is a history of this infamous motorcycle outlaw turf that happened in 1984 where they eventually shoot each others in the streets of Milperra , Australia killing some of them and by standers in which they postponed they meeting to next day because the meeting was gonna happen on the night Dallas was on .... one of a kind tv series
Great stuff. This looks like a day where the heat must not have been so terrible. I've seen photos/videos of other shooting days in Texas where the actors are literally sweating through their clothes.
Dallas, dynasty, falcon crest and the colbys should have been in the same universe where all the famillies were related some how. Angela channing could have been jocks little sister. Blake carrington and jason could have been cousins of angela and jock.
Une page se tourne DALLAS est là référence en tous les domaines : dans les affaires Pétroles et autres. Cela est triste Dallas sans Larry Hagman donc sans JR ce n'est pas DALLAS.
Those fans/visitors were so rude to come and visit the real South Fork Ranch. They should have back then opened up South Fork Ranch on days when the actors were not working that day. Plus, I am sure the visitors had to wait in the hot sun for hours and hours for a tour, so the actors could finish up with a scene. I guess at the same I would not have mind meeting Donna Reed, I guess I mean watching her in person to do a scene. But at the same time I could not wait out in the hot sun for hours and hours in the hot sun to wait for a tour to open up.
Sue Ellen did at this time drive a station wagon (Ewing 2) however Larry Hagman as part of his contract renegotiation after "who shot JR" had a driver and car at his disposal on set. Here he's seen talking to Leonard Katzman the show producer but as can be seen, Larry is the powerful presence on set! No JR Ewing, No Dallas!
Patrick Duffy was my all time favourite hot actor really gorgeous man . Larry Hagman was to Dallas to what john Forsyth he was to Dynasty brilliant and superb actors .
Kind of a letdown, all that build-up just to watch "Bobby" and "JR" chat for a bit, then "JR" get in his car, turn it on, and turn it off a second later.
This show was and is a legend. So miss it along with the happier and simpler times of the 80's
I agree 100%.

haggman was a very hard working actor
JR was the symbol of the 80's. Confident, materialistic and flamboyant.
Larry was the best... all these years later.. seemed like a true gentleman
Larry Hagman seemed to be very polite to everyone in set. I’ve read he was a super nice guy
And SO funny! Always very amiable and had a great sense of humor.
Patrick Duffy was the funniest of them all and he does stand up. The 2 of them used to have the whole cast in stitches with the help of a bit of booze. Larry used to give advice to the other actors too on negotiating their contract with the producers.
@@troublebrewing99 there’s a video on CZcams somewhere of Larry and Patrick making Linda break character by laughing in a serious scene- hilarious!

Best series ever to come out of the US..
Dallas was the best primetime series in America and around the world.
What I loved about Southfork, it looked like a comfortable estate....not like a museum like Dynasty
loved the show! R.I.P J.R

Saw it on that scene, take 1 thing, where it was on June 13th, 1984, usually shows would start filming in July, this case it started a month ahead.
Loved this show, never missed an episode!!!
Love love love this show the best program ever Larry Hagman is a star
Yeah and of course Patrick Duffy. Two controversial brothers. I love to see them when they are not on agreement over an issue
Personally I think jock and miss Ellie were the backbone of the show
I Like seeing behind the scenes stuff. RIP Larry Hagman.
Me too. It's interesting how they do things. LH was the best ! RIP hun!
RIP Larry Hagman who died on November 23rd, 2012 at the age of 81.

Loved dallas theme song
It fits right in.
Saw how they play the music in the background of a scene.
Amazing all the work that goes into one short scene! Morgan Brittany is stunningly beautiful.
Met her one time at a car show, a true beauty! 👍
That was the scene, where she was hoping JR can help her get Bobby, and then working to break up Bobby and Pam.

Loved this !!! Looks like they filmed it during the summer of 1983. The scaffolding on the back of SF is when they were supposably repairing Southfork after the fire at the end of the 5th season in May of 1983.
In Russia, the fire in Southfork is the last episode of Season 6, the great series ( we have a mini-series this is the first season)
Love hearing JR's voice brings back so many memories
the writers must have had a hell of a good time coming up with jr's lines

It must have been over 35°C and poor Mr. Hagman had to walk around in that suit.
and, that's one reason he was paid, to quote him: "...a ridiculous amount,of money...". R.I.P.
Larry Hagman was a Texan he was used to that weather.
It didn't bother him one bit, with the suit and briefcase.

You wonder how much time it took to set up that simple shot of Larry Hagman starting up the car?! He didn’t even drive away.
His chauffeur likely.

Did somebody (that is,one of the cast/crew or just a visitor) took his/her home camera to the DALLAS set?
Dallas like america as a country was around when the states was at its peak in everything now its just a shadow of its self
The 1980’s looks like World War II footage in color.
Love the nut huggers those 2 were wearing lol 😝

JR in a station wagon?

What is with the background music?
I think is Brams string sextet OP 18 2 andante ma moderato
It's not part of the episide.
Music is used to play during the scene, they filmed during the episode.
Short shorts everywhere lol
Pam is missing on your picture
Didn't see one overweight/pot bellied crew person on that set, thin was in haha.
This be translated in English so we can understand thank you
Did they really play the music, while performing a scene?
Probably to set the mood.
Yeah, that's what it looked like, when there's music that you hear on screen during a scene.

any reason the license plate is missing at 1:00?
Maybe they used to lease new cars for a few days to complete a scene and return them after filming . . .
MMAFighter38 , PROBABLY BECAUSE THAT MERCEDES WAS OWNED N CALIFORNIA NOT TEXAS.....
I would’ve let Larry take the Mercedes-Benz for the weekend.
You can't do this with CGI.
What's the music in the background towards the end - it's gorgeous and very moving.
It's used during the scenes they filmed, to also air on Tv.
Its not the same music
JR Ewing always knew how to seduce a woman and get what he wants to get from her.

Yep I caught that too lol! Although I cannot find anywhere where he was involved in the show. Probably uncredited.
