  • Well, the creeks are finally clearing up after a shocking start to the year and when the weather is stable it's time to target those big winter salties! Fishing with a beautifully handmade timber lure from Benn Durkin the BTD General. I've also incorporated my sounder set up for everyone who keeps asking, some interpretations with some incredible imagery from the Garmin 8412XSV and GT56 transducer, and a review after coming from the Solix 12.
    Enjoy!

      For versatility I reckon that’s the best setup on the market at current!

    Awesome video loved the winter Barra. Never see much doing with wooden lures but it is good to see there still going good. Can’t wait to see another Barra Flathead or Jack video.

    I would of moved in a little closer to the bank once I got the blue salmon but I’m a little bit further down the coast line from where you are and the water is normally a bit dirtier than where you tend to do your fishing up a little north, seems like you were fishing a pretty good scenario tho🙌

      Thanks mate! Yeah I knew I should have moved but persisted cos the fish were still coming through.. in saying that I’d never targeted barra here before this and all the fishing filmed in this clip took place over 35 mins..

      Any sunline dealer has access to it but it’s not really a mainstream product.. it’s a blue spool which says NY System Shock

    Wats better mick the old bird or the Garmin. I have a solix but used to have a Garmin, I liked the Garmins 2d a lot more offsure. Garmins seems to have caught up with its side imaging now. Keep up the good videos mate

    Micko whats the yellow line & black ? Is that the keel of the tinny & blacks what the transducer doesnt pick up cause of the side scan ? So from the outside of the black either side to then all the way left & right of the screen is what we're looking at aiy.?!... those 2 lil tips ive been doing lately so i must be doing something right thank f.

    How did you get your sounder to read that wide in shallow water?
    Did you install it yourself or get it shop fitted?

    • @Micksgonefishing
      @Micksgonefishing  Před 2 lety

      I installed it myself but in saying that I didn’t just connect the wires and send it. There’s a bit that goes into doing it properly to get the best out of it.. I might put it into a video one day, but basically it’s on its own system with a 100AH Lithium battery, ALL wires are wrapped in conduit to stop interference, no switches except for the NMEA, and a DC-DC charging system that does the electric battery and sounder battery, setup so it doesn’t cause interference with the sounder. Took a couple of goes to get perfect but I got it done 👌🏻

    You have your outboard up when doing the sidescan?

    • @Micksgonefishing
      @Micksgonefishing  Před 2 lety

      Yeah I just trim it up enough so it doesn’t impede the reading..
