    There is a clear Christian Bale influence in the way Benjamin portrays Patrick, and it's a great thing, because he's not just imitating. It's like every time he talks, every gesture he makes, is with a mental image of Bale's Bateman in his head.

    this just doesn't capture the dramatic intensity of the film or book. the opening monologue when he describing the morning routine is wrong. he speaks like he's speaking with colleagues when in the movie he's describing the mundane practices that he does just to feel like he's fitting in.

      +Kyle Cottrell nah. I'm writing my own stuff. but anyway I don't know a lot about the theater side of the stage. I just know that this scene in general doesn't translate into another medium well for me. I know more about musical theater music than I thought I ever would. but do you think something like requiem for a dream would translate well? I think the wall would. I think black Swan should. but I'm gonna go see it and decide then.

    The pedestrian style choreography used in this so called musical, and others like it (Ghost, Bare, and the Carrie revival) is in no way theatrical. The music is in no way dramatic. The direction doesn't invite any kind of character. This is not theater. It's not even a good music video. It's just ... not good.

    • @ellafried9626
      @ellafried9626 Před 8 lety +5

      I feel like that's the point though. I was recently in a production of Carrie and the choreo was supposed to feel and look natural because we were all high school students. While choreography is definitely a crucial aspect of any musical, sometimes it is the right choice to go with something more natural and less rigid than strict choreography

      @vladdiethebaddie5275 Před 7 lety +2

      malepointe1 SO is a play not theatre because the movement is sometimes practical instead of choreographed??? Don't be ignorant, theatre comes in many forms. If every show was sung and danced like singin in the rain or anything goes or take your pick of another classic the community wouldn't be diverse

    • @firstnamelastname5331
      @firstnamelastname5331 Před 7 lety

      Carrie and Bare had choreography to reflect the environment and the characters and situations. It was perfect for that show. I am not saying all Broadway shows should look like that, I'm just saying that every show has it's own style and that you shouldn't criticize artistic choices to make the show more interesting or different.
