The funny thing is, I don't think there is much more to Wildcats conceptually, than to the likes of Youngbood or Cyber Force. The reason to their success is that it lucked out on having genuine talent working on it very early on, even before Alan Moore, you had Chris Claremont and James Robinson writing and Jim Lee's artwork. And ironically, you could say this actually makes them stand-out. These dudes aren't deconstructions or foils to more traditional heroes, they are archetypical 90's supers, the pure embodiment of superheroes as black ops in pouches. And there is something to keeping the best version of that around, especially now that we are as far away as 90's were to Silver Age.
They were my favorite team superheroes for a minute....especially the Joe Casey run!
The final year of volume one, Brandon Choi returned, and it was amazing. That being said, the complete Storm Watch was way better.
Before Cortana...
...was Void.
LOVED me some WildCATs!!
Comics were awesome. Cartoon was awesome too.
Thanks for the nostalgia I loved the comics and cartoon as a kid.
The Wild Storm reboot was INCREDIBLE
The comics were pretty cool but I feel bad for not watching the cartoon since I've been hearing it's criminally underrated
Killer Instinct was my favorite cross-over event of the 90s.
Nice video. I don't know anything about the comics. But I love the TV show. It was a complete story, but it felt extremely rushed. 13 episodes was nowhere near enough to fully flesh out the characters and the story. We didn't get a full background story about some of the characters. There was details missing in the story. The data entry at the beginning of the episode showed huge sometimes gaps between one episode and the next one. If this show got a reboot, I hope they do a better story but not a different story.
Image had some good ass comics back in the day
Yup. Spawn, savage dragon, shadowhawk, wild c.a.t.s, especially my dude "the Maxx"
Storm watch as well as supreme
Invincible is their best comic line and you couldn't change my mind on that
The wildcats are the most underrated superhero team ever. They need a need a reboot both in the comics and in live action.
There is. The comic run is on it's 6th issue.
@@LastStarfighter00 Perfect now all we need is a live action TV show or movie and we are good
God those Jim Lee pencils and Mark Silverstri were so good.
I love the lore of Wildstorm, I’d only started reading their books late in the game (mostly with The Authority and the Stormwatch spin-offs) and the end of the world storyline that ended the run.
Kinda wish I was into comics in the nineties.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the way it seems like you actually read every comic you talk about. Not just skim wikipedia articles. Youd be surprised how many "comic book" channels treat comics like the red haired step child of geek culture
wildcats are getting an on going in november!!
Picked up the first issue today thought it was pretty good
Thank you so much for video, I collected more Image titles than Marvel. Good times back in the day! Met Jim Lee, got his autograph on my birthday, he's a really nice guy!!
They are back!!
Wish the dc universe who bought windstorm would use these series instead of just focusing on justice league...
I was watching the Flashpoint Paradox movie when I saw Grifter I thought he was Red Hood now after I saw him and Batman gunned down Black Manta I wanted to know more about him then I went down a Wildcats rabbit hole and I'm glad I did
I remember when the first issue of Jim Lee's WildCATS: covert action teams #1 comic book was first published in Summer of 1992!
I remember seeing copies ofJim Lee's WildCats#1 at the Comic Book Store and at the Newstands.
I was there when It first came out !
I remember this era like yesterday! I felt so inspired and hopeful! It told me. You can create your own and I did ❤️
God I miss the 90’s. Stan Lee’s gone, Alan Moore retired. Thankfully there’s still a handful of gifted writers and artists out there
I miss the 90s too.RIP:Stan tha Man.Formation of Image & Milestone comics ( both ground breaking in their own right )bought comics from both companies.
All facts
DC launched both the Vertigo imprint and Milestone imprint in the 90’s.
@@JakeTheComicBookDude So true.Don't know much about Vertigo ( even tho Space Brain did a retro video on them ) Milestone was really ground breaking with it's diverse heroes and 3 main titles featuring black lead characters and having many black writers & artists. Truely a first in comicbook history.Syfy wire did a 2 part special about Milestone ( interviewing a few people who actually worked there ) it was nice.
Wildcats/X-Men: Golden Age has some of the best comic art I've ever seen. Of course, the series started with Jim Lee so good art wasn't unfamiliar for them... for a while.
One of the best comics ever
@Modok.Saint424 wtf you said? Believer? Smh
It's a brilliant 90's super hero team. 😀👍
Yeah man! Too bad the animated show lasted just one season. A reboot of this show should be done today, due to the popularity of superhero shows and put on HBO Max.
@@Rodeo_Wizard it's a killer idea. 😀👍
I liked the cartoon show series of (WILD CATS) when it was on television, and if I was a Show-Critic I would of given it Three Stars plus half a Star.
An so I hope someday a reboot of (WILD CATS) cartoon show series gets made.
I still have my Wetworks and Black Razor action figures . Prophet and "The Sword of Damocles " storyline was one of my favorites.
Preteen memories , read them all couldn’t tell you one thing about them .
I stored this comic number one and it was water damaged and I'm still not over it
Same thing happened to my Spawn #1.
I wish DC would bring back Wildcats
They will soon.
Remember Devil's Reign crossover? That was an...interesting story.
When doing my DC Marvel crossover, I made the Kherans the creators of the Kryptonians. I noticed how similar they were to the more barbaric side of Kryptonian history. I liked how Jim Lee basically copied Jack Kirby's Eternals when making them. Sadly, most of the characters lacked any real likeability or good design.
Whew, I feel like I downloaded like 20 TB's of Info into only a 1 GB HDD. That's a lot of info, especially around the part where all the other Image titles were crossing over / promoting with each other's comics/universes. Well, this is another great video...Thanks.
Man,when I 1st saw Cable and X-Force I thought he was the man...until I saw everything else he tried to create. I mean with such an ego you would think all his characters would not all look the same. I loved the Wild Cats I never understood why Jim Lee had to leave his own book
I stopped reading WildCATS after Jim Lee left. To my understanding Jim didn't give a reason as to why he left his book. If he did we will never know but my guess is he was getting ready yo make a name for himself at DC
voodoo...;) grifter was my favorite
I was kind of around when Image first kicked off. I miss the Wildstorm characters.
90s comics....of course you need the psychic stripper on the team.
Great Video Fam 👍✊
I LIKE THIS CHANNEL ...KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ...I'VE FOUND REAL REAR COMICS HERE
This was cool
Any chance for a history of Weapon Zero? It's an obscure miniseries.
Hey JLS comics can you do a history / origin of another superhero team I used to watch when I was young called the Ultra Force?
Wildcats
Wildcats
We're good against evil
Theyve got invincible powers
YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Awesome!!!
I love Voodoo so much
not because she is a stripper right?
I’d LOVE to see a come back of the wildcats BUT they’re very 90s
Jesus forgot how messed up and confusing old 90s comments were.
I didn't much like the dc Wildcats once jim lee left image everything went down the crappier I feel that's just my opinion
What, no mentioning of Deathmate? I don't blame you because the continuity of the company crossover event(Valiant/Image)is a headache.
DC almost had an Xmen!! 🔥🔥
They are back. Can't wait
Right
Thanks!
What are DC's plans for the *Wildstorm* universe in 2021?
Jim lee said wildstorm characters will be slowly Pop up in Dc universe thats why Grifter was in batman and batman mention Halo. Midnighter saving superman in future slate idk about apollo
So basically DC absolutely ruined the Wildcats and anything to do with wildstorm
Jim Lee sold out to DC comics.
@@eyeseer1 obviously, how else could they do what I stated?
Pretty much DC bought Wildstorm and then did nothing with it
Grifter is such a cool character
Alan Moore and Chris Clarendmon. Angry comic book men.
We all know that Wildcats is in DC comics now.
I want Frank Miller to redefine the WildCATs story.
If anything, I’d like to see Frank Miller write Grifter.
Loved this series. Grifter is my guy!
I got 2 say i love wildcats their one of my favorite teams if not da favorite.i dnt knw if anythng been done on da wetworks team but i would like 2 knw more bout them n voodoo.i try 2 fne a bak story on her but not luck. I've read origins on her team mates but cant seem 2 fne her origin.
4:25 stripper on the team... sell me it now
Also why they let Fred Dukes into Freedom Force.
Storm Watch from out the gate was the better series.
I own WildC.A.T.S. issue #1 by Image comics, another issue by Wildstorm when it became a DC imprint featuring another Jim Lee creation, Gen 13, and Flashpoint featuring Grifter.
always thought they looked cool but the story was meh. liked the ghost rider - venom bad guy.
Rest in the good news ⚘ 🌚 👍 okay bye
Wut? Lol.
Is that like a Blonde Deadpool lol
Nah. Not even close.
This sounds like a D&D Group than some action "hero" group.
........
Answer: an X-Men ripoff!
wrong
lmao ... do your reaserch young blood.
No. The TV show Mutant X was an X-Men ripoff. They didn't even try to hide it in the show title! 😆
I hope to see this in Cinema ..hd movies
I remember the 90’s series. Almost felt different than watching the X-Men animated series.
