    As a newcomer in the UAE, your primary aim should be to establish yourself, showcasing your dedication and skills. Any work should be payed even if it is so little, we are training interns but they also help us with so many little taks which are also very important and avoid other lawyers to waist time on. Interns should not be taken advantage of just because they are new, how are they supposed to survive and pay for their basic life expenses there?

      I am with you! But at the end of the day many companies do not help at all and what you get from that experience is huge. So this needs to be assessed on case by case scenario.

      Actually this episode is strange Criteria, how to pay for life survival if the companies didn't pay!!
      We are not in our home land so we can work for free and under our parents coverage, Dubai is very expensive city and if the companies didn't pay they will not find candidates.

      @@ahmednajeeb8821 And even if it was not an expensive place to live in. LAwyers spend many years to study and put a lot on the table. Why would ANY graduate lawyer do anything for free ? Sounds like a legit scam already, where the company gets everything for free from a lawyer who has insecurities.... but I really hope that no any lawyer would do it so

    Hi. Good video. My wife is 15+ yrs PQE and a Lead Payments lawyer for a large US investment bank in London but works across the EMEA region including Dubai for expansion projects, etc. Other areas include Corporate Law, Cross Border Mergers/Transactions, Business Transfer, Asset Purchase etc. If the UAE work gets bigger she may have the opportunity to relocate to Dubai so what kind of salary could she achieve? Thanks

      Large differences on whether is counsel or firm but wherever it is I would expect her to be on high curves either way. There are publications on salaries, send me an email and will try to source you from leading HR firms.

      It’s a hard question to answer but from my limited experience I have seen an experienced paralegal/trainee paid ca EUR 4000/month and in other cases a qualified lawyer with 3-5 PQE earning ca EUR 5000/ month. Take note that part of that is allowances. It’s also nationality based as she said. Sadly I know Pakistani lawyers making much less. Dubai living is also super expensive

    I'm sorry to disapprove you but the knowledge is not according to law. In UAE, the only one lawyers allowed to practice should be emirati citizens. The rest of applicants that are working for law firm in UAE, they do it as a Legal Counsel and the procedure of getting the card as a registered Counsel is very complexe. You guys are free to contact Dubai Legal Affairs Department and you will be directed accordingly.
    In UAE, foreigners lawyers can practice just into DIFC Courts.

    • @MariaRubert
      @MariaRubert  Před rokem +1

      Hi Raluca, you are right. There is a difference in the UAE between 'barristers' and 'legal consultants'. I'm indeed registered with the Dubai Legal Affairs Department as legal consultant. Please note that when I make a video for foreigners it only addresses this possibility. No one coming from abroad will be able to register as a UAE barrister. Hope that this clarification helps grounding the video and its reach.

      @@MariaRubert i have a an LLM in civil law . I am experienced as a paralegal. However, I realize most nationalities with an LLB once they get to the UAE register through their firms they are working with to be legal counsel. I don't have the experience of a legal counsel but can I put myself out as a legal counsel and gain more legal knowledge and experience as well.
