I know its been a while since this was posted but this is a great video. Nice hearing a really enthusiastic dad with his son. An some good stories too!
Nice! Lucky and a cool engineer! Once a conductor offered to let me see the engineer. I now wish I hadn't of declined his offer.
Miss seeing these in San Diego back in the late 1990's.
Great to see, congrats on the ride!

Col Ryan! I got to do this to on my birthday it was awesome. Only difference is I was in 9640. Good Video
Nope
I went to nyc
So I could video
Mostly because I knew the conductor and how to drive and engineer but the thing is I like the horn, yiu would hear it blowing every 5 minutes
I got to go up in cabs alot
That was nice of him. I wonder if they will let anyone get footage if it's not leading?
The door to the cab is locked but you can see it from the passenger seats
Also I did mine from 30th Street to lancaster
awesome video!
9646 was originally #813 when delivered to the Penn Central - and paired with #812, which is now 9638. Kinda bugs me that they didn't keep some sort of sequence to the numbering relative to the original car numbers (for example, #800 becoming 9645, while its pair, #801 became #9647, as opposed to say, #800 becoming something like 9644, #801 becoming 9645, etc)
I was on that same cab car yesterday
How do you get cab rides?
Lucky! But keep in mind you could get the engineer in trouble by posting this because you can see his face.
That's an old cab, the new ones have different buttons n stuff
What he did was illegal then, and would be even more dangerous today. He's talking while operating. He's distracted. He put the people on that train in danger. Stupid stunt.
You have no idea what you’re talking about. He did not put anyone in danger nor is he distracted. He’s been operating trains for 41 years he said. I bet he could operate that route with his eyes closed.
