- After the extremely popular G3 pedal, Revv decided to breathe the massive saturation from their red channel into a pedal as well. Let's see what it does and send it into tons of amps, compare it to the red channel from the Generator 7-40 and the G3 and use different guitars as well... any more questions?

Pulled the trigger on this one the other day.... amazing,
That was the most epic pedal review I have ever seen. I can't wait to try it out.
Another incredible video, u r funny as hell which makes it even better. Also your playing has got better with the years, that demonstrates how committed you are to your audience, thanks!
Classic HP review... you never cease to awe me ... thanks
I don't need this kind of distortion very often, but when I do, I need something simple, that I can just kick in, and have it work. This sounds great. I'm looking at this and the G3, as well. The Empress is great, but I don't need that much Heaviness, all the time, and certainly not enough to justify the price, and the size of that pedal. Thanks!
Yes! More than metal. Sounds great for hard rock. Thank you for saying it!
Revv G4
Dude your demos are Monster! I get the vibe through my computer with your Outstanding array of amp models and sounds plus some very healthy chops well done! The REVV G4 is the best new distortion pedal out there.
Great sounding pedal, I'm much more interested in this one than in the G3.
About the color changing led, apart from the led cost, it would need a much more complex circuit around the bypass switch.
A separate bicolor led for the agression level would be way easier to achieve I think. And "bicolor" can have three different colors, it's actually two leds in one package, say here a blue and a red one, so you can light both to get purple...
There are a lot of situations where the most logical thing from the user/player point of view is waaay more difficult to do than the easiest one for the designer. Like all 3 way switches where the middle positions gives the highest/lowest setting, something you've bitched about in some Wampler pedals. You can't do otherwise, it comes from the way these switches work.
This is probably my next pedal for leads.
I've always wanted to learn how to play the sledgehammer. But the beginning seems so slow and frustrating.
Your video montages are very worked every time ... it must take you a crazy time with the multi cam !
This room in your studio with all the cameras is my dream configuration !
(but not the M4/3 for me, I do not like it too much, but I will not do the difficult haha !)
I swear if I have to put lipstick on for this pedal.....
I was laughing so much about the chickens and completely forgot about that you would probably compare it to the amp and the other pedal and it slightly aroused me because I didn't see it coming.
Regarding the visual feedback on the current mode (off, blue or red): it's not just an LED, but other changes on the circuit and the real costly component - the switch!
Excellent soundtrack demo for this pedal
Love the Pug dog shirt Henning! Oh yeah, the pedal is pretty darn awesome too for metal.
Yeah, I understand cost savings but if the LED change is being denied over 8 cents, what the hell.
I always swap my own leds in stuff, can you solder
@@Ottophil I solder ALL of the time dude! I use a Weller station.
for me it won't make sense to put another circuit just to switch color. just focus on the tone.
@@JGCRAFTONES - finally someone who gets it. They also don’t get the extra circuit can add noise.
Picked one up. It was OK at best. I returned it and got a EVH pedal. So much better.
I play it thru the clean of the smallbox it sounds great. It is my favorite out of the red and the purple. It is not fizzy or unable to handle it. Use Clean channel.
For argument, lets say an LED cost $1.00. Then three color equals $8.00 plus a little more wiring. TWO different color LEDs = $2.00 plus a little more wiring. Just a thought.
Or a Red and Blue LED behind a single plastic lens and you could get purple(ish) too!
Yay pedal review!!!
Great Pedals!
switching the color of the LED is not only about the LED itself.
The blue LED's are the worst, It's like getting flashed in the eye with a laser.
yea, it's not a big deal to add a Tri-colour led, besides that, a second stomp to switch between seems convenient too, and then... Ah~ [just say, don't mind]
All you demo guys need to start dropping a quarter into a jar for Steve every time you play "Erotic Nightmares!!" :D
Love the song!
That tone ! Holy fuck balls
Nice pedal and amp-Revv is great. Love the Maybach. My favorite guest star in your videos. Is my best option to getting one of those in the USA ordering from Thomann?
that’s your best option right now, I guess.
its not like youre gunna bend down and use the little aggression switch mid set anyways
hey the song at the end sounds amazing (with the ferrets) !!!! were I can listen all of it???
That is from: Frameshift “Unweaving the Rainbow”
So the light isn’t supposed to change colors from blue to red ? I swear it’s supposed to?
If Derk does not give lesly some chickens, ill bring some next time i come over :P
nooooo
With how pricey these pedals are, in regards to the light issue. He said it would cost 8 cents, vs a fraction of a cent, for multi color light. Well, charge 5$ more a pedal! I don't think anyone willing to pay 230$ for a pedal, is gonna stop at 235$
Pure madness. Maybe I'll give the quite noisy BE OD back and get the G4 instead...
should lower the gain knob 33 percent
Have the same prestige
The Revv G3 is a much more versatile pedal, it definitely has more mids and tons of gain than the G4, especially sitting in a mix. I bought my G3 in May of 2019 and play everything from Deftones, Slipknot, Tool, Megadeth and even lower the gain and can play classic rock like Zeppelin, Hendrix, Gary Moore and so on. It has more gain then you will need for any music.
I have both and I dont even turn the g3 on anymore... I love it to death but there is just something very special about the g4.
Bradley Briscoe I think it's quite the opposite. G3 is too tight. Page, Hendrix and Moore haven’t that kind of sound. I can’t imagine G3 except metal.
Wonder how a Ts9 would boost it for leads.
i've tryed it on this pedal! it cuts all the low frequency
#IGoRedForRevv sounds nice to my ears... just saying... 🤷🏻♂️
Leslie straps on? I'll just leave that alone...
When it comes to any red box distortion (most pedals really) I have to ask, what does this pedal do that others like it don't? Because these days, if you want my money in a saturated market, you had better stand way out in front of the crowd.
1. it's a full amp in a box (you can run it on an FX loop or direct to a Cab)
2. 3 tone/gain flavours with the aggression modes. They add a gain stage but also slightly change the voice.
3. Very effective and simple EQ.
Other than that... it's the tone. On these sort of pedals, in the current market, you pay for a specific tone/voice. Not necessarily all the features. And the tone, you either like or not. Almost the same as most amps... you get them mostly for their specific voice.
Hi, hope all is well with you and your family during these challenging times. Just wondering if you could provide me with some feedback on your thoughts of using the Revv G3 or G4 with the Orange Rocker 15 head and matching cab. I currently that amp and was looking at these pedals and was wondering which one possibly plays nicer with the said amp. I am a big fan of the Rocker 15 and I know it can be a little temperamental with different pedals. Thanks take care
old post but how did you go? i'm in the same predicament.
He played it with a Rockerverb. That should give you a pretty good idea.
OK Henning, let me buy red bodypaint and do some gym!
G3
G3 is much better. G4 has more "brutality" like you said, but in a bad way. Great pedal btw but G3 is completely amazing.
The g4 has absolutely nothing in a bad way. I have both and they are both great but the g4 is much smoother imo. Best pedal I have ever purchased
Mega Ouuuutchhh !
30:30 That G4 is more "le brutal" xD
Do French people happy of that mashup ?
I didn't care for the g4. It sounds way too fat. Not nearly as tight as the g3. I ended up buying two G3's. One setup for rhythm and the other setup for leads. There's currently a blackout edition of the g3 if you want to easily tell them apart.
la brrutaal !!!
Wich is better for a Fender style Amp like Princeton or Deluxe Reverb ? G3 or g4 ?
What are the speakers
Got the Revv G4 over all these reviews.. sounds muffled to me. Or maybe I would need a clean boost .. I am just plugging it into the clean channel of a Line 6 spider IV 75 , and its sounds FAR from awesome
it’s that amp
@@EytschPi42 Probably. Thanks for confirming. I ended up reading so many bad reviews on it.. I mean , I used to plug a Metal Muff directly into a bass amp and the guitar tone quality out of it was already 100x what I have here.. ok. Good bye Line 6 , thanks for the memories.
Revv = yes. Headless guit =no !
Which pedal G3 or G4 do you reccomend for aggressives leads? I have been trying to emulate the sound James Ryan gets from his video on the Schecter Super Shredder.
had the g3, and i didnt like it, its darker and middy than i expected. cant dial out some annoying mid freq out of it..im going to try the g4 later
Srew Olah watch Shawn Tubbs do it into the Two Notes CAB M. Sounds amazing and makes a portable rig
That‘s the Punkrock pedal of The year, no brainer.
28:17😂😂😂
!...! 22:27
is that Walters new forever home :D
it obsolitly can do funk its posivitaly a funk monster funkin free form funk for fun folks
Ask REVV about a stereo head or better yet a 3 channel 30watts per for a WDW solution in one massive tube head :D
g3 purple? ITS CLEARLY BLUE!!!!
Le first!
Love you Henning but gotta be honest about this thing....
The cost difference for a RGB (which means "all the colors you want") is silly...
As if that's not silly enough, they have drilled a fucking round hole instead of machining or using a screwed-on power socket. Sorry but I do have Pedals for 30 bucks that do have pcb-mounteded power sockets wich are inlet (you slide them on there) and properly held in place without any strain on the solder-connection/pcb.
These things sound great, but for the price I expect proper build quality and not a fucking ugly hole like I've built the thing myself. No wait, my DIY builds use proper power sockets (but the cases look seriously ugly, gotta admit that).
Step it up guys, this is just not what ppl should expect for more than 200 bucks.
Revv didn’t give me the prices for the LED, Simon from Laney did. They have an RGB LED and I asked. He said it is 80 times more expensive than the one color (not 80 cents), but that it is still only fractions of a cent.
@@EytschPi42 Hey, realized that just after sending my answer. Still love you Henning! Hope you know that :p
Does not sound as good as the Diezel VH4-2 demo
And the MXR EVH 5150 Overdrive Pedal sounds nice AF
stop playing with your phone kid your gonna go blind , lol.
