Don Felder - Heavy Metal (Takin' A Ride)

- Drive it on up and let's cruise a while
Leave your troubles far behind
You can hedge your bet on a clean Corvette
To get you there right on time
Now if you're ready to dive into overdrive
Baby, the green lights are on
It's like you're running your brain on some high octane
Every time she reaches fully blown
Won't you take that ride on heavy metal?
It's the only way that you can travel down that road
Satisfied on heavy metal
Baby won't you ride, ride it until it explodes
Heavy metal
My oh my, how this lady can fly
Once she starts rollin' beneath you
You know you just can't lose, the way she moves
You wait for her to finally release you
It's not a big surprise to feel your temperature rise
You've got a touch of redline fever
'Cause there is just one cure that we know for sure
You just become a heavy metal believer
Won't you take that ride on heavy metal?
It's the only way that you can travel down that road
Satisfied on heavy metal
Baby won't you ride, ride it until it explodes

the movie responsible for my life-long want of a sub-lime Charger.
This song back in 1983 convinced me to save up 7K from a $4 an hour job for 3 years to buy a clean 1964 Corvette. It’s been 33 years and I still own the car!!
Great
Do you have any links to the pictures
this is one of the coolest things ive ever read in the internet
Awesome! I had a guy offer me a 63 convertible, for three grand in 74. Sure wish I could have come up with the scratch.
Wow
I assume nothing bad happened to you or the car all throughout those years?
The perfect song to listen to when you are cheesing.

CROSS COUNTRY CHASE😎😉
Dude I'm chessing my fucking brains out!
This song was in the animated feature "Heavy Metal." If you've never seen it, it's a must see. It's a great example of what animation could be if American animators pulled their heads out of their asses and gave animation the respect it deserves.
Its not the animators...its the people who control the entire entertainment industry & what movies/TV that are allowed on the air that we the people pay for....NOT them.
@@markwinchester3005 You make a great point. I guess I'm just frustrated. I've been on an animation lately and there is some great animation from all over the world. A few I've seen recently are "Technotise:Edit And I" from Belgrade, "Lone Way North," from France, "Windara" from Japan and "Grave Of The Fireflys" also from Japan (early Studio Gibli, Myazaki's studio.) We have the talent here, why we don't use it really gets to me.
@Zoomer Waffen I can only partly agree. Some of the animation was better than other parts, but overall It was (in my opinion) great. Something you need to keep in mind, this was all hand drawn. Computer animation didn't exist when this movie was made. It was also made on a shoestring budget compared to other feature length animated movies of the day. All in all it was a ground breaking piece.
I saw HEAVY METAL. Cool cartoon

That was Enos Straight from the DoH tv show as the cop on the bike.
It's so funny to read this. I have to be younger , so I know her mostly from Mrs. Doubtfire, Steel Magnolias & Forrest Gump. Bombshell is not a word I could ever use to describe her 😂

It's too heavy for me to lift up anymore ❤
My brother had a late 70s silver f150 with a souped up 8 track in it. Loud it was, for it's time. This was before kids wore seat belts. I would sit in the windshield wanting it louder. This is the first song that made me addicted to them speakers man. I would sit there thinking one day I'm gonna drive fast to this song. Mission accomplished and mastered. ❤
I know he hasn't anything to do with this song, but when I heard of his passing two hours ago. I just imagine him riding off to the sunset playing this in a 83 camaro!! Rest and Rock In Paradise Eddie Van Halen!!🤟🤟🤟🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I didn't know this song existed until the south park episode. Only heard it on the radio once. Cool compilation friend
That's rocking...
Had a lot of those old muscle cars back in the day, wish I had em all now👍
Wouldn’t have sold them EVER
As soon as this started playing, my hips started talking back--gosh, this guy can sing, and that beat!
I just saw him live, he still rocks!!! Opened for Skynyrd lol.
That would be autotune you hear...You can definitely differentiate would each brought to the eagles listening to their solo stuff..I think I like his flavor of stank the best..even though the other guys didn't like him much..he had a great influence..just didn't understand how much better of a singer Henley was than him and that caused strife..
All I can hear in my mind wherever I see a B-17 is the Don Felder song Heavy Metal (taking a ride)

Don Felder IS The Eagles. Period.
This is a mood right here, man.
I grew up during the era of these awesome muscle cars. Out of them all my favorite was the Shelby GT500KR that Nick Cage was driving, then the Fastback Mustang that Bullitt had with that awesome 390 lighting up the streets with sheer power! Had a few of those 390s back in the day. They were certainly memorable to say the least!

Thinking the same thing. A great movie. I had an 80 T/A. Never should have sold it.
Of all the celebrity deaths, his really effected me. Smokey and The Bandit was a big part of my early childhood. His passing put a perspective on how little time we have, and how fast it goes.

Another Classic from the underrated Don Felder. Too bad Frey and Henley treated him so poorly. Those guys have more money than they can ever spend and chose to squeeze Don's balls for more. I think I just shed a tear.
Thanks for supporting my music, I’m so grateful and I hope you never stop being a fan, I would like to honor you by giving you my personal information💜💙💜
They treated him like the ignorant person he was at the time..The other guys wanted what was best for the band which was to sell records..He couldn't understand how much better of a singer Henley was than him..He had a great influence on the sound of the band..along with Walsh on the upbeat spectrum..Just couldn't understand why he couldn't sing the songs he mostly wrote..Which was obvious to everyone besides him..He would also add backup vocal apart from from planned and that would chap arses..Walsh wasn't a fan of that either as you can catch by his eye rolls occasionally and sad puppy look making fun of Felder pouting some nights...playing it off as his usual animated antics if seen.....Lol..They were great for sure..Just had drama like most others..Not compared to Fleetwood Mac which made a careers of it..Lmao..Good times..Good coke
Always thought Don Felder and Joe Walsh were in the wrong band
@muthatrucka76 . He was an equal member of the band financially where Joe and Timmy were just hired hands. Frey and Henley decided to break a legal contract because they are greedy pricks. Look what it did for Frey.

How about that wheel hop in reverse??
Fun fact, the Bullitt Mustang couldn’t actually keep up with the ‘68 Charger in the chase scene. The Charger had a 440 in it, and they had to keep their foot out of it or they’d start walking away from the Mustang (which was running flat-out) 😉
