In this clip, Albert Hughes shared his fascinating encounter with music legend Prince. While hot off the release of his film, "Menace II Society," Hughes was invited to meet with famous faces including Madonna and Prince. The meeting with Prince saw Hughes and his brother taken to the icon's infamous Paisley Park in Minnesota. Hughes commented on the surreal environment, from white doves flying around the lobby to Prince's eccentric pitch meeting involving a glass table and offers of Snapple. The meeting culminated in the revelation of Prince's passion for a new film venture - a positive narrative about overcoming the struggles of the music industry. The most cherished takeaway from this surreal encounter was a CD handed to Hughes by Prince himself. Hughes called it his 'little man's fingerprint' souvenir, which he has strived to keep safe and unplayed to this day.
One of my regrets is not meeting Prince. When i moved to Minneapolis friends would tell me about the random parties he would throw at Paisley Park. When he died, i left work and drove to Paisley Park. Remember it was raining that day and helicopters circling his house. His house isnt in some gated community. Its right on one of the main streets in the town.

You won't believe this story. Back after 911, I was traveling by plane out of New York to somewhere. My father taught me, when you're black and travel by plane, be careful about your appearance. So, I get to LaGuardia Airport and one of the security agents saw me dressed well and told me they would provide a courtesy to avoid the long security line through the terminal until things slowed down. They placed me in a makeshift "room." It was actually just a partitioned area not far from the security checkpoint. I'm standing in the room, basically playing pocket pool, when security brings in another "guest." It's Prince. Mind you, I grew up in New York City, so I'm not one to get star-struck. In fact, the best thing you can do to a celebrity is leave them alone if you don't know them personally.
Now, I'm not a big Prince fan, but after 15 minutes I began to feel that I was being rude by not saying anything. At this point, if he wasn't a celebrity, I'd definitely small talk. However, my mouth just wouldn't work. Every time I peaked up at Prince, I couldn't believe how tiny this man was. His shoes looked like they were size four, with the equivalent of a 10 inch lift and he was still short as hell. He just looked bugged with his pencil thin mustache/goatee, shades, and standing still like a statue. We were in that little room together for about 25 minutes and I couldn't bring myself to say one word to this funny looking little man.

I became a student of his art by the time he dropped the funk bomb 1999!
Prince has been my favorite artist since 1982. I've studied his work in addition to reading several biographies of him in addition to meeting people that knew him. He NEVER advocated homosexuality in his songs or personal life! Prince was a lover and connoisseur of female sex and beauty.
I don't think that he was a closeted homosexual because after being an international icon for nearly forty years, it would have been known by now!

Prince was good but he is pretty overrated. All his songs seem to flirt with being brilliant masterpieces but they don’t ever get there. A Prince song is blue balls. It starts out with so much promise, but it fizzles out. His best written song was probably Nothing Compares 2 You which Sinead made famous. Like I said, he was good, but he doesn’t hold a candle to a Marvin Gaye.
