  • This video shows me practicing high wind speed Compass Mode control of a Staaker drone from an Alfa Romeo GTV6 at the New York Safety Track (NYST), October 2017.. My other Staaker clips give more samples of other flying modes.

    I own a Alfetta GTV 2.0 and I was one of the first pre-order customers for the Staaker, but after a year of waiting and several missed delivery deadlines, I cancelled my pre-order and bought a Mavic Pro. But I have nothing but love for the car and the Staaker company. Thanks for sharing, and both the car and the drone look equally impressive. Ciao!

      Buon giorno, Paul Misencik! Thanks for your positivity. Do you use your Mavic mostly in autonomous mode? And what’s it like to operate? I’ll check whether you have any uploads. Back in 2015 I placed my pre-order with Lily, which I got nervous about when the more capable Staaker was announced. To Lily’s credit they refunded my pre-order in full when they cancelled their launch, so I took that opportunity to pre-order my Staaker instead. Yes, the wait was a little tough, but I have strong connections to Norway and the Staaker’s potential capabilities meant more to me than needing a drone immediately with compromises. I think I’ve learned enough now and hope not to crash the Staaker anymore after this! Cheers!

      Sorry for the delay in response. Knock on wood, so far I haven't crashed a drone. Not the Mavic, and not the DJI Spark, which I also have. But I'm pretty darn careful not to. lol.
      Mostly I fly both the DJI's manually. The autonomous modes work, but a drone that uses visual tracking is never going to track as well as a drone that is following an electronic tether. That's just the bottom line. And that's what drew me to the Staaker in the first place. I looked at the Air Dog (expensive, with a shaky, 2-axis gimbal) and then preordered the Staaker because I like to film cars, often by myself, and being able to have the drone follow me without my input was an appealing thought.
      Now I still film cars, but usually not alone. The DJI visual tracking will track my car for a while, then stop. Or if another car passes me going the opposite direction, it will sometimes break off and start tracking THAT car. It's not ideal. But all that said, I am enormously impressed with the quality of both DJI's. Extremely well designed and easy to operate, and (for my purposes anyway) magnificent quality footage for the money. I'm a fan.

      Nice! I wanted the staaker when it was up for pre-order so I can film my friends and I mountain biking. It looked like the most solid and easy to use tracking drone compared to others. But as start up companies go, I knew that the actual release date would be unpredictable. So I got a DJI spark since it was the cheapest option and it's tracking abilities look similar to the mavic. I still use it for biking, but only manual flying instead of tracking bc visual tracking is so poor. Now I'm considering the staaker again since it's available now and price is down to $999. What do you think? I'll probably keep the DJI spark for short cinematic shots.

      Cassy Samel - sorry for the late reply! The Staaker is my only drone experience. I like what it does really well because I’m a solo operation. I have to drive the cars! The battery lasts a very solid 20 minutes, but that always goes by faster than I expect, so I’ll order a 2nd battery soon. The functionality of the Staaker is fantastic, and I am confident with all the controls.. but again - it’s the only drone I’ve used. I’m very glad the price came down to $999.. I paid full price.. plus some repair parts. But the repairs went quickly and it’s flying again! Cheers!

    Nice GTV6. Would be interested in purchasing if you have considered selling, but look forward to seeing more videos of it this summer if not!

      Thank you Alyssa, I'll take that as a compliment. It will be several years before I'd be in a position to sell, but I'll come back here if that time comes. I apologize I have not been able to carve out the time for more videos.. I really hope to get more done this summer. Cheers!

    Just wondering if you changed to the wider steel rims and what it looks like now.

      Hi Cliff, thanks for asking - I did not change to steel. I sourced a set of Alfa Romeo magnesium Campagnolo rims (15"x6.5") to use with dedicated track tires, so I can switch to the OEM rims with street tires when not tracking. I bought a new set of 205/55-15 Dunlop Direzza DZII Star Spec tires, and they were fabulous. The tires are now worn out (3 seasons). I'm finding it very hard to find decent 15" track tires - so now I'm deciding my next step: Probably buy a new set of 16" rims because the tire selection in 16" is much better than 15".. but the 4x98mm bolt pattern isn't common so I'm going to ask around on the AlfaBB forum how other owners have solved the tire selection problem. Cheers!

    Cool, what speed did you drive on lap one in K/hm?

    • @65SATisfaction
      @65SATisfaction  Před 6 lety

      This varied probably between 50 and 70km/h .. slower than race speed.

    • @65SATisfaction
      @65SATisfaction  Před 5 lety

      When racing, I can drive the 2.1mile/3.37km lap in 1:54.. so my speed averages a little over 60mph/96kmh. The fastest I get in the straight is 90mph/145kmh. The slowest corners are 35mph/58kmh.
