- How Tall are all my Horses? Measuring Stick DIY | This Esme
To make a measuring stick like this you will need:
Suitable plastic or PVC piping - I used 32mm waste pipe
The same internal dimension 90 degree T piece
A hacksaw
A half round file, or Dremel or other multi-tool
A measuring tape
knowledge of the 4 times table...

This is probably one of the best diy videos I have ever seen. I can know tell people with confidence that my horses are 14 hands and 15 hands.
It’s so great how esme decides to put in the effort to make a measuring stick instead of buying it and just criticising it saying that it doesn’t work like some people would good job esme

I bought my measuring stick used and I really enjoy it but your DIY is very nice! I measured my filly every month since she was born, my last measurement was when she was 18months. I believe she was 15.2 at the bum and almost 15.1 at the withers. She’s definitely grown since then because she seem more even now (she’s 20 months) but since she doesn’t grow as much I’m gonna measure her next at 2 years old. Duke was definitively smaller than I expect. But then again we always see you squatting next to him :)
