This movie really is Nolan's forgotten masterpiece. Nobody mentions this one when talking about his movies. But it's about perfect and it really deserves it to be more known.
He will be remembered ... For now... too many film masterpieces are imposible to be all remembered in people's simple minds... When all bollywood smoke dissipates in future years, Chris Nolan masterpieces will remain FOREVER while this humanity remain ... as we know ... maybe better than now I hope
along side batman begins, it has to rate as one of the most complete, perfectly balanced, haunting movies of all time. Truly, I rarely see a movie so utterly perfect in almost every sense, it may not be remembered or revered now, but in the future it will, trust me, it will...
Insomnia is criminally underrated. There’s no 4K for insomnia but there is for the prestige. All hail Nolan lol
For me Interstellar, Memento, Inception and The Prestige are 10/10
Diehards mention it. Novices to cinema and Nolan's movies only saw his Dark Knight trilogy.
One of the greatest movies of all time, and vastly underrated in my opinion.
Yes it’s really so deep
yes
No cap
Don't you mean, underrappreciated. Everyone always says that.
yes yes yes definitely....
Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale were both awesome. The soundtrack never overwhelmed the story. amazing storytelling!!
0:25 goosebumps everytime.
In my opinion this is the best Nolan's movie. The screenplay is great and the music matches perfectly.
Mememto
Prestige
Oppenheimer
The rest...
The End of this movie is just.... wow. My favorite film of all time besides Raiders of the Lost Ark
Holly Nolan's trinity: Memento, Prestige, Inception
(+ Dark Knight and Interstellar) damn, biggest movies of our time
To bad this was made before Dunkirk and Tenet.
@@koflynn2159 Hell no Dunkirk and Tenet aren't as good as the ones he mentioned
@@Tonycillian5 Probably, I just really like war movies and Dunkirk was very different and interesting. And I'm like the only person that likes Tenet in the world.
@@koflynn2159 Both good movies, but Memento, Prestige, Inception, TDK, and Interstellar are untouchable
@@koflynn2159 naw I love Tenet but it pales in comparison to some of his other work
This movie is totally forgeted by peoples. Such a masterpiece.
what a masterpiece
David Julyan is very underrated Composer, hoping him and Nolan Team again one day he is brilliant
It's not about software - it's about Mr. David Julyan. He's a real composer magician. Perfect blend of real life instruments and eerie synthesizers.
0:35 is so creepy, yet so good.
Search "TOOL-Shism
love this movie, great story and keeps you guessing until the end where it all comes together amazingly.
Agreed, it was unbelievably underrated.
This is my most favorite of all Nolan movies ! Amazing performances all around
I like how chopped up this movie is. - how it dodges from past to present seamlessly... b e a utiful
when fallon says "goodbye" that made me tear up
This film man... utterly shocks me how no one talks about it. Truly is Nolan's Magnum Opus
even when i was watching closely i couldnt fully understand this movie D:
such greatness...
The Prestige is Nolan’s best work hands down and the most mind blowing.
I would argue that Tenet is his best work, but the Prestige is certainly up there. Either way, he is the best filmmaker of the modern world
It so remembering me Playdead's games Limbo and Inside
Months after seeing the movie, I watched it again.
The soundtrack, the scenes.. Everything. It sends a chill down my spine.
Parlor tricks turn into murderous science, two insane magicians messing with powers beyond their control..
"Science, in the hands of a madman, is like giving a nuclear bomb to a cockroach."
Hello, my friend. Your comment is 9yrs old ! Fuck, time is a son of a bitch.
@shaiksfq6691 your pfp is fuckin sick dude 🤙
this music is so eery, and terrifying
And calming in a way
It’s powerful but not overwhelming
Fantástica....
God, i just love the music, and everything in christopher nolan's films. It's all so original, and above all gripping. Really wish I could say something to him.
One of the best movies ever made
Agreed mate, forgo the dark knight trilogy (which is awesome as far as superhero films go, they are top notch) but his earlier films like Following and Memento, honestly really got me into underground cinema and all that pretentious shit.
inmense score , to the high of Bowie playing Tesla
Best movie ever, or maybe along with Into the Wild :)
A fantastic movie all around. Perfectly cast.
So eerie and foreboding...... I love it!
Thank you for making it clearer than it already was
maybe the greatest movie ever made
"How could he not know!!"
Every great magic trick consists of three parts or acts. The first part is called "The Pledge". The magician shows you something ordinary: a deck of cards, a bird or a man. He shows you this object. Perhaps he asks you to inspect it to see if it is indeed real, unaltered, normal. But of course...it probably isn't. The second act is called "The Turn". The magician takes the ordinary something and makes it do something extraordinary. Now you're looking for the secret... but you won't find it, because of course you're not really looking. You don't really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn't clap yet. Because making something disappear isn't enough; you have to bring it back. That's why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call "The Prestige".
Best movie ever
Thank you for the video!
It's not anything like that. It's actually a movie about magicians, not some romantic thing with magicians. In this movie you won't be thinking Batman vs Wolverine,it's way better than that.
I think it was more about ones entire life dedication to an art form to achieve perfection. I agree it’s better than capeshit.
@@JKSmith-qs2ii
I think the initial intent was that the movie is too good to be thinking Batman vs. Wolverine more than anything.
I do wonder what my original comment was a response to...
Anyway, yeah, it very much is a movie about obsession and rivalry. We're seven years later since that comment, I still love it.
Favorite film
Dude .... this movie is Incredible ..... 10/10
It really is amazing how Borden was the good guy and victim in this all along. Jackman was the bad guy.
@Ferdi Habub actually there is...its Alfred. Not his twin freddy. Angier and freddy are the destructive ones. The obsessed ones. Watch david taylors walk thru commentary and also read deep cinemas review. After sarah dies because of freddys and angiers obsession and angier goes to coloroado offscreen Al and cutter form in cahoots against angier and his obsessed twin freddy. All the hints are there. Listen to nolans dialouge. All in the details. The movie begins with cutter lying in court. Freddys final line before being hung is a dead giveaway. Abracadabra is a riddle, an anagram. Ab = alfred borden...ra= robert angier. Cad is a term for a man who mistreats woman which both angier and freddy did in film. Magicians often wear an amulet in magic. In the form of a triangle. The triangle symbol is obvious thru the entire film...what does this mean? Well one side is ab, the other ra, cad in the middle. Thus forming 3 sides. Al is the third side in the film. He is the one who eventually wants to break away from the trick with is brother because he knows its gone too far and he does not share the same obsession that angier and hie brother freddy has ( as revealed in the end when robert asks "you really dont know why we did this do you?") All of the evidence points to cutter knowing about the "twins" from the start. "He doesnt deal in methods" says cutter early in film. He also says to freddy after messing up the knot "some nights you just dont get it.." also later when angier is trying to figure out bordens new trick. Cutter simply confirms what he already knows "he uses a double" after robert goes to colorado ( machine never worked..also in dialouge...robert simply uses root again) Al and cutter get together and come up with a plan to frame freddy and kill angier. Why do you think the film ends this way with Al nodding to cutter? They worked together. That is the films real magic trick. Cutter plans both angiers and freddys death offscreen with enough hints in dialouge to prove it. Al does lose quite a bit in the end and may not be considered a winner, but he was never a bad man. His twin freddy becomes the bad one. Him and angier. Al is stuck in the middle. Hence the amulet in magic. 3 sides. Freddys final words and a brilliant script reveals all the secrets....but as nolan ask the viewer in the opening scene and thru freddys words "are you watching closely? " .....many were not. Many just watch the movie and take it as is. Hardly the case.
The soundtrack works better with your comment than the film.
@@nicholasrousseau227 wow interesting but why did cutter help kill angier?
Nolan's masterpiece.
I would say Tenet is his masterpiece and most underrated film
A Masterpiece
Masterpiecies ignored & are masterpieces understood before or after death .
A film way before its time.
This is Nolan's best film
I would argue Tenet takes the bacon on his Best film
the music is just omg ;w;
Tesla stated in the film "Man's reach exceeds his nerve." Angier had done that, and it broke his sanity. Borden ended ihis obsession and in my opinion, ended his misery.
Leo O'Rourke Actually Angier was more of psychopath at the end. Framing somebody and stealing there daughter. Threw out the movie I always thought Borden was crazy as well but not that psycho.
+ Mario Maker
I disagree a little bit, it's not like Borden is a one hundret procent good person. He was the one who killed Angiers wife (that wasn't what he expected, but still) and it was really cold blood when he killed Angier and said he didn't sacrifice anything.
All three aren't saints and that's what I love about this movie. That they are doing not so nice things, but you can understand them somehow.
After Inception his best work.
There is a comic drama audio of Batman the killing joke that used some of this movie's music. Loved this song when Jack became the Joker.
that it was!!!
It's funny how this movie is about performing magic trick, but in the end performed the magic trick on us..... "Are You Watching.. Closely?..."
I GOT TO WATCH THIS AGAIN! TIS MOVIE IS THE SHIT! I LOVE IT!
first of all, they were both "Fallon", they weren't brothers. Tesla's machine duplicated Borden. Second, it is revealed that it was the father because he tells Angier at the end of the movie that he loved Sarah (his wife)
he never actually duplicated Borden, they were brothers from the begging, twins, he explains this at the end of the movie, which would also explain why he knew nothing, or cared to know, about Angiers machine, or what he was doing with it. Think about it, if he too had been duplicated, he would have known what was going on, instead of getting tricked as he did by Angier and ending up in the gallows. I know this, because i thought the same thing, about him being duplicated, that time he was seen by Angier at Tesla's show. Turns out, the truth was a lot more simple, and hidden before our very eyes.. As Cutter kept on saying, "he's using a double!" we, like Angier, didn't want to believe the secret could be so simple.
Im not really sure to be honest its been a while since ive watched it, but i agree with you it would make sense
OMG, i couldnt remember what this movie was called, i thought it was the illusionist because i hadnt seen it since it came out. Then i freaked because Scarlett johanson was in it AND Bale, ANNDD Jackman? lol, Its like Wolverin and batman fighting over Black widow with magic! XD
My second cousin was in this movie ^_^
Hello from the future and I see what you did there
the one nolan movie hans zimmer didnt do lol
Memento, Insomnia, Following
Tenet
Christian Bale is so fucking good.
Anyone give me the torrent link of THE PRESTIGE movie soundtrack.
Opening similar to Tenet prologue
Ya
Are you sure about that? Dont think you watched the ending closely enough.
Now you're looking for the secret. But you won't find it because of course, you're not really looking. You don't really want to work it out. You want to be fooled.
Is it just me that thinks this song resembles Zimmer’s soundtrack made for Man of Steel? Specially the beginning

@gamer00100 what's his name or her
Borden had a twin you fool! He never used a machine
What do you mean ?
The score to this movie sounds similar to the soundtrack of "The Descent". I was wondering if it was composed by the same composer, and it was indeed.
the descent... talk about an anxiety inducing movie. for a horror movie it was really well done.
@@bagelbeater Yes, superb movie. And it was low budget. The soundtrack makes it even better.
up there with Citizen Kane
angier was wild though he was out of control
It's not revealed whether it's the uncle or the father though so you don't know that :)
@gamer00100 Don't tell me your cousin was an extra as audience in perfomance scene :-)
Look closely
Be coz the closer you look, It will be easier to fool you
J DANIEL ATLAS
But there is one thing, the machine wasn't ready at the time so it couldn't of replicated Borden
@gamer00100 who is?
Where in the movie is it said that they are most DEFINITELY brothers..(**SPOILER ALERT**) Also remember that Borden's key word to his journal was "Tesla"
I prefer Julyan's scores, especially this one, to Zimmer's work. Inception is great, but his other scores bore me.
Have you listened to interstellars score? It's amazing.
Why else do you think I am comparing the scores from his movies with one another?! Of course I hvae heard it...lthe one and only time I have watched Interstellar. Can I be honest? Despite the money, Interstellar is Nolan's 'worst' film. I have that word in quotes cause it is still a better effort than most modern sci fi movies, but let's be honest, it isn't a great movie. As I said in my original comment, most of Zimmer's work is sthe same. This is because he has a team of guys who 'write' for him and when they hand in their work, he takes the credit. His writers will obviously be writing to what they think he likes, so we get similar musical motifs in all his films. That's why I love The Prestige soundtrack. It has zero 'Zimmerisms' and is actually kinda random, in so far as it just provides a strange added layer tp every scene without nessicarily marking out cues and events in the picture itself. It adds to the dresm like wuiality of the film. The Prestige is my favorite Nolan film anyway, bar none, so it's hard to persuade me to change my thoughts on it.,
Actually, Interstellar is one of the only films Zimmer did on his own.
I'm doing a class with Zimmer and he's gone over all his thought processes and music diaries for Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Sherlock Holmes, Frost/Nixon, Interstellar and a couple others.
Interstellar's soundtrack, "Day One" in particular, is one of the most beautiful scores I have ever listened to.
Dennis Potter memento has an interesting soundtrack as well
This movie was so depressing.
This movie was a lesson in obsession. It will only lead you down to a path of pain. It's ok to tell stories like this. Similar to "Vertigo" that is a classic as well.
Watch whiplash
@gamer00100 Hugh Jackman?
One person wasn't watching closely
The machine that was made for Angier was different from the machine that was made for Borden i thot
Was this Movie released in Australia?
Where on earth do you get that from? They were brothers its said in the movie....
Abra Catabra
wow, how come i didnt do that before, wikipedia's that site that's always 100% correct and is a fully reliable source, am i right? You're right, i should be backing up my info with wikipedia facts....ok genius, if they were brothers then wut would the word "Tesla" have to do with anything in his act?
Directed by Christopher Nolan…
the unconvincing part of wikipedia was the part of the explanation that said that one brother was named Freddy and the other's name was Borden...That is why i don't rely on wikipedia..IMDb is reliable tho, so congratulations you are right and I am wrong. well that sure is very disappointing that they're brothers. Borden using Tesla's machine would've had so much more relevance to the plot...how the fuk did Tesla's machine even connect to Borden then?
he used it to trick angier into going half way around the world, chasing a pipe dream lol. That was the relevance, using the fake journal entries, it was one of the movies best twists, especially because Angier returns with something Borden was never expecting, better yet, even comprehending possible...
Who is him ?
Batman vs wolverine...
Batman wins in the end...
way to go Batman !!!
Just look it up on wikipedia dude
Not enough ppl watch closely in this movie
@insatiablebloom cant you just say your friends pet cat lol
I wish angier didn't have to die
@bennihana123 it would have been the best if indiana jones showed up in the middle of the movie lol
no i'm pretty sure Borden won. His unintended Prestige in the end got him his daughter back, with the cost of "Fallon's" death.
but, lets not forget that in the process, his obsession also caused the lose of his wife, his mistress, and his twin brother, so this supposed 'victory' came at a grievous cost...

Oh dear. Okay then try IMDB maybe that is more reliable for you?
Not even Nolan's best work...Interstellar shatters this masterpiece to bits. BRILLIANT director.
+Evan Jordan I disagree. Interstellar has its fault, but this is simply a masterpiece. Have a look at the youtube video "The Prestige: Hidden in plain sight"
+Evan Jordan Interstellar is one of Nolan's worst movies.
Big Christopher Nolan fan. Although the Prestige doesn't have the same "cinematic grandure" that Insterstellar had I do think it's a better movie, I just think the Prestige is pretty much flawless.
Agreed. The Prestige has a better story, and is a better written film imo.
Richard Desmond it really is
Dedicated to tesla
movie was fantastic a real work of art and the soundtrack is good but I think it could have been better in my opinion
Neither of them win
